Yes, the tool-tips specified "melee hits" before they were changed. This was before the skill system overhaul. After the overhaul Virtuoso and Fundamentals were removed, and the Magic Weapon tool-tips were changed to "attacks".

Now the question is will anyone have a build without this? I mean, adding poison, life leech, or a chance for knockback to all other spells on top of the weapon damage boost seems too good to pass up.
Does magic weapon and familiar stack?
