So much drama. Apparently the guy who looted that Echoing Fury posted it in the EU RMAH for 250 EU because he needed to make rent ASAP. The lucky sniper got it just as it hit the RMAH and resold it a few days later for 40,000,000,000.

The 'lucky' winner was this guy: http://www.diabloprogress.com/hero/hieven-2432/Hieven/7687734

Pay to win. Going to be difficult to find much fun in competing against players with a lot more disposable income than the rest of us.
yea I dont think its fair that Charlie Sheen gets to bang all these hookers and do all this blow and I dont just because he has mroe disposable income than me.
This just makes me want to play more - we all have the EXACT same chance to find that echoing fury.

If your motivation to play is the chance of finding an item that sells 12k USD, I'd suggest buying lottery instead..

I 'quit' a couple of weeks ago, but this kind of reaffirms why I started losing interest. I can't compete with those guys. Every dollar gained is a dollar towards school. Woe is me I guess.
LOL... FFS there is no competition between you and the dude who payed that ridiculous sum...

Why would someone want that annoying weapon that fears mobs all over... insane.

Overall, the dollar value of that item was purported to be over $12,000 USD (I don't know the current dollar to gold ratio at the moment).

actually about $8000 ($0.20 per mill is what websites are selling gold at)

Pay to win

actually its cheat to win I promise someone who has 40 bill to spend on a weapon runs a gold selling website with a ton of gold he cant sell.
The crazy thing here is there is still one roll on that EF that isn't perfect (the 40% damage could have been 50%).
I do not reply to topics but the last part of yours needs a response. This is a game, I do not understand people who whine about players who may be better off or have more disposable income. Do you want every player to have access to the same income pool? Or maybe, you can work harder and earn more income. So what if someone else can buy godly gear and you can't, just play the game and have fun. I do not know how old you are but the younger gerneration needs to quit whining about so much. Also, it does not matter how well off you are, there is always someone who has more. So just play, have fun, and don't worry so much.

Cold damage mitigates that fear proc.

Spend the money.. If you do not want to than quit crying... You will be rated and fighting others rated on your level...

I was actually in the top 50 for US server PVP dummy. Regardless of how the score is interpreted, there's no way a non-RMAH'er can compete with those high rollers. Which is essentially my point -- PVP will draw competitive players. I was one of those until I got wise and sold the gear last week. I'm still helping out other players where I can though.
Acrimony I respect you and all, but I just can't see why you feel it's necessary and obligated to "compete" with those guys. It's gonna be hard to be the absolutely best geared player on the server, just like it's hard to be the best football player. People with money will have advantage, period. Even if RMAH doesn't exist, a rich player could still pay money to get best gears in black market. Even if all the gears are account-bound and cannot be traded, a rich player can hire a team to farm all the gears for himself. The privileged has advantages over the under-privileged, in and out of the game. That's just how the universe works.

By the end of the day it's just a video game. It's not even a game designed for competitive play like SC2.

I'm just disappointed that all things being equal, a player who plays the game and plays to gear will always lose to the one who has enough disposable income to outbid everyone else. It sucks and I realize that's how the world works, but I was really hoping for a level playing field.

Not a valid analogy. You can't re-roll on an Asian server to improve your loot chances.
i'm jelly.
wow nice weapon
