Jan 10, 2011 Unplayable Stuttering Issue Okay, I recently got back on SC2 and have encountered an extremely annoying stuttering problem where the game will randomly stutter for 10 or so seconds then fast forward to make up the time. During the the stuttering I can't order my units or build anything. I used to play sc2 on release for a bit and didn't have these issues. My set up other than my internet connection has not changed. I am now on fiber optic. Anyway, I've tried everything. Here is what I've done to try and troubleshoot it: 1) Downloaded newest nvidia drivers 2) Downloaded older nvidia drivers 3) Downloaded at least 3 more sets of drivers (no luck) 4) capped my framerate in the variables txt 5) Turned off all non essential windows services 6) monitored my GPU core temperature to make sure it's not overheating. During the game the temperature never exceeded 77 celius. According to manufacturer video card is safe up to 110 or so. 7) Also did port forwarding on router. Nothing has worked.. the stutter is the same all the time. Was playing fallout vegas two weeks ago and didn't have stuttering issues, also used to play SC2 in beta on exact same setup and didn't encounter stutter. System Specs: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 @ 2.83GHz 4 Gigs of Ram Geforce GTX 280 Visa Home Premium 32-bit SP1 ... I have an issue with being unable to upgrade to SP2 and do not want to reformat but I doubt this is the issue. What can I do?Addicted4 Jan 10, 2011

Jan 10, 2011 MASSIVE Game/Installation Issues. I had a hard crash to desktop last night. I re-booted my computer, but decided not to try SC2 again. I came back tonight to play, and encountred a crash while loading into a Custom 1v1 Multiplayer Matchup. The Installation repair instantly loaded, and I got messages that said it was unrepairable, and I had to re-install. I tried reinstalling in my old directory, and it failed. I used the default settings, and the installation actually completed. Now however, I'm stuck in an infinite loop of the Blizzard Updater. I keep getting the same patch over and over and over and over. Anyone encounte this before?Pwnbblegum4 Jan 10, 2011

Jan 10, 2011 Game wont let me play with my Mexican Friend. I moved to Mexico a few months back, i made a friend, considering i have the money, i bought both me and him a copy of SCII, i bought mine first to make sure it was a game he would like, he would, and he did, i let him use my account. So a few hours ago i bought him the game, he tried to log in, said he couldnt log into his account due to some "language pack" What kind of nonesence is this? This angers me that Blizzard wont let me play with a friend just because he lives ONE COUNTRY AWAY. May i add, he knows english just as well as spanish. If this docent get fixed i shall make sure not to buy any more Blizzard Products, as i feel like my money has been stolen as it is.ZogJhones2 Jan 10, 2011
Jan 10, 2011 SC2 will not start... This has probably been posted before, but a brief look through the tech forums didn't find anything. I click on the shortcut to launch the game, (normally, as Admin, from cd... anywhere) and the game just pops up a little msg box stating "An Error Occerred Starting StarCraft II. Please Try Again" w/ an "OK" Click Box. The game used to play fine. Than I installed a gtx460 & Dx 11. I have been playiong wow since the new vid & all has been fine there. Does SC2 not support Dx11? I see in the sys requirements than Dx 9.0c is needed, but it doesn't also state anything about newer versions of Dx. I did a repair, No joy. I did a full reinstall, same results. No Joy. As you can see I have played the game before. I have a rank. I would like to find a fix for this w/ out having to revert back to Dx 9.0c since my Vid bennies best from Dx11 Any ideas or help would be great. Thanx. Here is my Dx log, I trimmed the fat. Jan 10, 2011 What graphics card should I buy? My current setup is as follows: Dell Inspiron 537 Slim-Tower Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 (2.33GHz, 4MB) ATI Radeon HD 4350 512MB 4GB DDR2 SDRAM It runs at around 30 FPS on low settings. I'd like to upgrade it so it can run at around 30 FPS on high settings. Looking at the system requirements, I'm guessing my graphics card is the weakest link and is most easily upgradable. What graphics cards should I get to run SC2 on high settings? I'd prefer to spend $100 or less. Is that enough to buy what I need?Mainspring1 Jan 10, 2011
Jan 10, 2011 Poor performance in SC2: Good evening everyone, I am posting a tread to ask for assistance in fixing some fps issues I've been having. I've tried some of the great advice on this forum already but I haven't been able to get anything to work yet. So far, I've messed with the in-game settings extensively, updated all motherboard and video drivers, used driver sweeper to remove any old driver information, edited the variables.txt, and even done some slight (very) overlocking but nothing has worked. I'm starting to think that maybe it's a problem out of the game and if someone has other ideas on how to assess what is wrong I'd love to hear them. My system specifics are as follows: Geforce GTX 480 (driver version 8.17.12.6099) AMD Phenom black quad core 2.3GHZ (OCed to 2.5 GHZ) 8192MB DDR-2 Ram (sorry I don't know speed of this but they are identical sticks) Creative SB X-Fi Windows 7 64 bit My problem is that any time I get to mid/late game the frame rate drops to a state where I can hardly move in the game (probably less than 5 fps) and it makes getting to any really fun game states a frustrating time. If anyone is more knowledgeable I'd like to hear their advice. Thank youBevos8 Jan 10, 2011
Jan 10, 2011 Problem with single player vs AI I was taking a break from the game so i had to patch it with the most up to date files. After i was done patching i went to play a player vs AI game. I found out single player is not even an option to choose it was blacked out so i logged out and back in it worked or so I thought until it could not find any of map files not just custom maps but maps that came with the game. Help would be nice, I think the new patch has a lot of bugs since this never happened until I updated.MarkousRazor1 Jan 10, 2011

Jan 10, 2011 Radeon HD 6850 ground texture problems I recently purchased a new Radeon HD 6850 so I could play SC2 on ultra. Now, whenever I try to play SC2 in windowed (fullscreen) mode, the ground textures are all black. If I move my screen around, I'm able to see some of the real ground textures, but the black textures still follow my screen around. The game works perfectly fine in Fullscreen mode, and the graphics card is able to run Crysis on highest settings, so I don't really understand what the problem is. I've tried fiddling around with all the graphic settings in SC2 from low to ultra, nothing seems to work. Also, all my video card drivers are up to date. Any help would be appreciated! Jan 10, 2011 Which Cheaper Graphics Card is the Best? Hi everyone! I started another thread a while back about how to get better FPS, and you responded by telling me to get a new Graphics Card (my current one is a Radeon 5450. I have about $260 to spend, but ~$60 needs to be spent on a Power Supply (I have a 300w one). I'm basically set on the GeForce GTX460, but if there are other cards that are in my price range that would be good (eg, able to run SC on Ultra, I have an AMD Athalonx4 processor, I really don't think that the processor is slowing me down), I'm open to suggestions. So, basically, what manufacturer of the 460 (or whatever card you guys convince me to buy) would be the best, like Gigabyte, EVGA, PNY, etc., and is there a good PSU (preferably 650w or more) that I could buy with it and keep the total under $300? Thanks everyone!!FearItself6 Jan 10, 2011

Jan 9, 2011 am i experiancing the best resolution possibl so my sc2 highest setting for resolution in my video settings is 1440 x 900, which is the suggested. my graphics card is gigabyte hd 5770(1 gig i guess) and my monitor is this Acer AL1916W 19 inch Wide Screen LCD Monitor (Black) Specification Mfr Part Number: ET.L5209.005 Display Type: TFT Active Matrix Display Area: 19" Pixel Pitch: 0.284 mm Brightness: 300 cd/m2 Contrast Ratio: 500:1 Viewing Angle (H/V): 150 / 130 Response Time: 8 ms Max/Native Resolution: 1440 x 900 Interface: Analog Power Consumption: 36 W Speakers: No Color: Black Built-in Power Adapter Dimensions (WxDxH): 448 x 182 x 369 mm Weight: 4.1 kg --so if i had a better monitor do higher resolution settings open up? wow i just noticed it changed to ultra from the public test.. and whats this setting refresh rate? which sticks me on default. shuld i turn that up or will i damage thigns? and wats post processing? its the only setting that sugests i use medium, but its on ultra anyways.. any comments wuld b nice thanksBud3 Jan 9, 2011

Jan 9, 2011 Mission Briefing Issue While after release I never had any issues, for my last several play sessions, I've been experiencing video and audio stuttering during mission briefing sequences. The video stuttering is most evident during the gameplay video captions during all briefings and the audio problems are seemingly random during briefing. All other cinematics, gameplay, and audio do not suffer from this. All drivers are up to date. Relevant system info: GPU- NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 CPU- Intel Core Duo 2.13GHz I've experienced this issue with 2 nvidia GPUs, the first only capable of medium and high settings, the current defaults with nearly all ultra settings. If anyone knows of a fix, please let me know, or if you need anymore info, simply ask. TY Custos0 Jan 9, 2011
Jan 9, 2011 Multiple Driver Crashes\BSOD in Multiplayer So ever sense I got SC2 I have had graphical issues. During the single player campaign the in game cut scenes were missing textures checkered throughout the scene. There was one mission I cant remember which one now but I couldnt even load into it until I reverted to old video card drivers 197.45's, it would just crash starcraft on load. Now in multiplayer my drivers crash constantly where the screen goes black and then comes back a few seconds later saying windows has recovered a driver crash. So I installed the latest 260.99 drivers and the same thing continues to happen and now I occasionally BSOD with nvlddmkm.sys being pointed at. When reinstalling drivers I go through the right process of uninstalling drivers, rebooting to safe mode to driver sweep, delete the drivers that come with windows so it doesnt install those on reboot, delete the NVIDIA folder before hand, and install the newest ones for a clean install. I was in a crazy good 1v1 this morning when I crashed and it made me very frustrated and sad. I play several other game (WOW, MW2, CS, Civ 5) with max settings in the game without this problem. I do not understand why I am having such a hard time and really need the help. I run SC2 with max settings and do use 2 monitors sense you have asked others. I run the game at 1920x1200. If you need dxdiag let me know and ill paste it in. My Specs: Windows 7 Ultimate I7 960 @4.0Ghz X58 3X SLI GTX295(Running 260.99 WHQL drivers) 6G Dominator RAM 1600Vask13 Jan 9, 2011

Jan 9, 2011 Please Help! Okay, so I bought my buddy a copy of SC2 to get him away from FPS's. He has a Gateway P-173xl FX, it runs an Nvidia GeForce 8800M GTS...The issue is the whole laptop shuts down whenever he starts up the game, whether he's in the lobby or campaign mode. Any clues? His drivers are up to date except for his sound one.Rabbit7 Jan 9, 2011

Jan 9, 2011 StarCraft still won't run. Okay, about a month ago or so I posted a thread about how my game crashes right as I start it up. I posted a video of what happens (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qj8y3qq_RM) and I have still not received any help. I've reinstalled the game, used the repair tool, and tried restarting my computer many many times. There are many other people with this same issue who have also not found a solution. Blizzard, I have StarCraft, StarCraft 2, World of Warcraft, its expansions, and Diablo. All I'm asking is the ability to play the game I spent $60 on. Please, help.Tyler3 Jan 9, 2011

During like every third game i play it will Crash, this happens to me a lot in WoW also i will just get the Error message. Anyone else have this problem and knows how to fix it? Jan 9, 2011 Invisible Units Whenever I start Outbreak on the Campaign most of my buildings and units are invisible. Also, all of the minerals are invisible. I thought it had something to do with the campaign, but I found a video of it on Youtube and everything is there. Also, you can see the units on the mini map, you just can't select them unless they are in certain spots on the map. Has anyone seen this? I am using 2 Radeon 5670 video cards using Crossfire.BrockSamson3 Jan 9, 2011

I have been forced to play at low seeting which i can earn an increase fps gain while doing this, i was able to play at an ultra setting when the game was first realeased but now anymore...It started to get worse and worses over time little fps drops here and there now after about 5 mins with the graphics settings on medium for all it just goes below 10fps. When i am getting good fps it is between 60-72fps bad anything below 20 its very choppy game play. i noticed that the shadder option is causing great stress on my fps as i turned that on low and kept everything on ultra i can get around 25-30+ fps... Now to contiune i tryed checking temps on my comp my gpu temp rises as the computer is left on longer and longer but hangs around 75-85 depending on what im doing, it also has been at temps to 100+ which i do not know what that means and only when SC2 is running. I have cleaned my rig pretty good and made sure all my fans were running, and cleaned the dust out without tearing the whole thing apart into pieces. I just need to know what i can do should i just through my PC out the window and go buy the very top of the line to run this game i thought these specs were good enough to run this game on at least medium settings.......... p.s. my nividia driver is updated what other drivers should i update if possible, remeber im computer retarted. just imagine your talking to a child.VieathanJS9 Jan 9, 2011

Jan 9, 2011 Double Minds Can I create two accounts, one for Windows, which I'm using and one for the Mac, used by my brother? As an example: my account is BJas to be used in Windows and my brother has on Mac Jippzzy. Can I do that? Just to play against each other with different names...BJas5 Jan 9, 2011
Jan 9, 2011 Drop from games following lag. Every couple hours my internet will stop working for 20 seconds or so. In game it brings up the screen about searching for a server or whatever it says. After 20 seconds everything goes back to normal. I get all the messages that people sent while I was lagging. I can play and type to allies once again etc. About 5-30 seconds after recovering from the lag I instantly drop. I believe from the point of view of the other people in the game it says I leave the game. If there is a fix or explanation for this I would really appreciate it.BrentheGreat2 Jan 9, 2011

Jan 9, 2011 Not getting many points in ladder match ever since i began playing Starcraft 2 1v1 ladder matches i have never gained more than 1 point per win (if i was lucky). Yet, my win ratio is about 47 % (72-83). If anyone knows how i could fix this problem please contact me through this thread. I honestly have no idea what is the matter with my account and neither does blizzard.zanos0 Jan 9, 2011
Jan 9, 2011 matchmaking blizzard you need to fix the match making crap. it aint right especially in teams. i am trying to rank up and its near impossible when im matched against 4 plat players and im the only silver league trying to go to gold and the rest of the team is bronze unfair for players like me causes loses and harder times to rank up beyond annoying and stupid. makes me not want to play it knowing im not even placed in a team who is in my rankDominator0 Jan 9, 2011
Jan 9, 2011 Hello I found a MAP HACKER RUINING LADDER SYS HEY this noob ass cheater BackDoorHero needs to map hack in order to cheat the ladder system and everyone playing with and against him. I just watched the replay after suspecting a map hack, and BackDoorHero clicks on my base to see what I'm building MULTIPLE TIMES, and the exact location of our proxy and what my ally is building WITH FOG OF WAR ON, all while dumping cannons all over his base right before I bring my dark templars in.. what a rip off, watch the replay, how do i upload it SO YOU ALL CAN SEE??? Game was played at 4:10pm eastern time, 2v2 warzone, backdoorhero & atomkill vs gondar & outrage.....Gondar2 Jan 9, 2011
Jan 9, 2011 Graphics Card & CPU, Help! Sorry if this is the wrong forum. My stone-age computer, even at the minimum graphics settings, won't go higher than 20 FPS on 1v1, and tops at 5 in 4v4. So I was thinking... Anyone know of a good video card and/or processor for StarCraft 2? Preferably under $100 a piece, please. BTW, I use XP. Also sorry if I used the wrong technical terms. EDIT: Forgot to mention, my current card is a ATI Radeon 1400/1500 series with the driver fully updated.toonygeek1 Jan 9, 2011
Jan 9, 2011 Computer turns off when playing This seems to happen infrequently for the most part, but today I had my computer turn off 3 times on me while I was playing SC2 (once immediately after a 1v1, twice during campaign). It gave me no warning, and did not lag or freeze beforehand, just all of a sudden, my computer would be off (No shut down screen, either). Does anyone else have this problem, or is my computer just bad? I have a laptop with windows 7, if anyone was wondering.Andrew3 Jan 9, 2011
Jan 9, 2011 Possible to Create SC2 Installation Disc? I recently got a new laptop, and I already had starcraft 2 installed on my desktop computer. But, I made a digital purchase, and thus downloaded the game digitally. Is there anyway I could make some sort of installation disc on my original computer to put into my new laptop, so I wouldn't have to go through a 10 hour long download of starcraft 2 via internet?Check6 Jan 9, 2011

Jan 8, 2011 Game won't start Hi there everyone I have just started having an issue with my game today after playing for a while this morning. I came back to play again in the afternoon and it never worked. I double click on the icon on my screen and get the hourglass for a second then it goes away and nothing happens. I also tried going through program files and starting it and I also ran the blizzard repair, and did all the things I could think of and it still doesn't work anymore. Any help would be appreciated.SamirDuran6 Jan 8, 2011

Jan 8, 2011 1920 by 1080 resolution cannot be chosen! my monitor support is meant to be run in 1920 by 1080, and it s been that way for like 2 years. but when i updated by comp, the option enabled (in game) me to choose 1920 is gone. now i only can choose 1600 one. why? my normal out-game screen is still run in 1920...but i cant even choose such option cuz it s not even shown in option tabAUTUMNBUNNY1 Jan 8, 2011
