Sep 7, 2010 Sound issue: Dialogue not playing in game Hey, so I'm playing the campaign, and in the challenges as well, whenever portraits pop up, no audio is played, or only played sometimes. In the challenges, there is just silence while the portrait mouths out something. I have an Asus Xonar DS audio card, an Intel i5 processor, Radeon HD 5770 graphics card, and use surround sound Promedia speakers. I have audio set to max channels since my computer can handle it. Any idea how to fix this?Monocle0 Sep 7, 2010

Sep 7, 2010 Installing Multiple SC2's.. for NA and EU I originally installed the SC2 version for North America, and I didn't know that I would only be able to play with people in this region. So I thought it was worth buying the EU version, but when I go to install it it says it will rewrite everything and that there may be a problem. And I am installing the EU version onto an external HDD and the NA version is on my laptop's HDD, can I just go ahead and install it and will everything be fine? Will I be able to launch either region and be able to play on them separately?Casey0 Sep 7, 2010

Sep 7, 2010 Vid drivers not compatibl Black square cursor When I installed SC2, it said that it detected that my video drivers may not be compatible. My pc is "new", it's refurbished but I just got it, and I also notice that after playing SC2, I sometimes see this black square on my mouse pointer when I hover it as a cursor.. i.e. like when you're hovered on any area you can write a text.. It disappears after a restart or after sleep mode. I called technical support and they told me to restore, which I did, but it still happens. This leads me to suspect this issue is connected to my video drivers...? Im not a computer savvy person so I don't know. This is my pc: Gateway FX 6831 (intel i7 860 and ATI HD 5850) i have the 01 version though but I think the only difference is the HDD size. http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6488404&CatId=4928 from dxdiag: Display Drivers: Main driver: atiumd64.dll,atidxx64.dll,atidxx64.dll Version: 8.680.0.0 WHQL Logo'd: n/a DDI Version: 10.1 Driver Model: WDDM 1.1 Also, I have DirectX 11 IIOODQLE2 Sep 7, 2010

Sep 7, 2010 graphics problems with Radeon HD 5870 I am having graphics issues with sc2. Movies, and backround images in the home screen have a pixelation effect and makes the game barely tolerable. I found if I turn the "shader" option down to low in game that it fixes the problem, but anything above the low option throws everything out of wack again. I play many games on this comp, and never had an issue with graphics, or any errors. So it seems this is solely a sc2 problem. I have updated to the 10.7 drivers, and it didn't fix the problem. I went back and tried all drivers from 10.4 up to see if one would work, and nothing. I updated chipset drivers and updated my mobo bios, and nothing. I have tried a clean install of the game and CCC to fix the issue, and still nothing. I'm really not sure what to do from here. Here are my system specs: Intel i7 920 2.66ghz ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB using CCC 10.7 8GB corsair ddr3 ram Asus Rampage II Gene mobo Windows 7 Professional 64-bit 24'' widescreen HP w2408h LCD monitor @ 1920x 1200 Antec Earthwatts 750 watt PSU Here is a screenshot of the problem: http://img805.imageshack.us/img805/2438/screenshot2010072802135.jpg I thank you all for reading this. I hope someone knows a way to fix this so I can enjoy the game at full resolution and graphics! Thanks in advancedeadboldt24 Sep 7, 2010
Sep 7, 2010 Glitchy Mouse Cursor Appearance Every once in a while, usually after playing for an hour or more, my cursor image will become very fragmented. The arrow becomes a series of horizontal line, the type-cursor has two vertical lines and no horizontal lines, and the "square select" cursor is horribly mangled. Once i exit starcraft, the issue persists into windows and can only be fixed after a system restart. Thus, my cursors in windows each have a distinct and consistent glitched cursors. I have the latest drivers installed for my Radeon HD 5850 and I don't know how to fix this. It makes playing very difficult, and diamond league all that much further out of reach. Any help would be very appreciated. Shredder0 Sep 7, 2010

Sep 7, 2010 In-game Launch Error In the Starcraft menu font & appearance, I receive the message: "The launch of this game makes reference to mod or map dependencies which are no longer available" upon starting the game, before the login screen. Ever since the 30 day authentification glitch has occured I have not been able to play...at all....I cant connect to battle.net, i cant authenticate anything, I cant even play offline. I am tired of looking at a $60 desktop icon that only reminds of the freat game I used to play. I am tired of logging into this site daily in the hopes that some new news will come out about this patch. I want a refund or a replacement, or something....anything! I just want to play Starcraft! Come on..its been 4 weeks! ADDpillz2 Sep 7, 2010
Sep 7, 2010 Runs fine in campaign, multiplayer unplayable When I play the game in campaign or against the AI the game runs fine on the recommended settings. When I play in multiplayer, whether its a 1v1 or against the AI, I get horrible constant lag that makes it impossible to play. In games against other players they have also complained about getting really heavy lag while I am in the game with them. I've tried adjusting my settings and changing different things but there is no difference when I do so. Any help would be appreciated. IronWaffle85 Sep 7, 2010
Sep 7, 2010 Need some help getting SC2 to run better It seems during each map my game would like to freeze on me for about 5 secs. One of these times is the beginning of each map. The map starts and I see my command center and scvs, but the game freezes there for about 5 secs. These tends to happen to me about 2-3 more times during the duration of the map. I checked to make sure it wasnt something running in the background of my computer, but I have everything turned off. Here are what my current video settings are set for: Display: Fullscreen Resolution: 1024x768 Texture Quality: Low Graphics Quality: Custom Shaders: Medium Ligthing: Low Shadows: Medium Terrain: Medium Reflection: Off Effects: Medium Post Processing: Medium Physics: Low Models: High Unit Portraits: 2D Movies: Low Anyone have any ideas what could be causing the freeze? I know my computer isnt the fastest, but I hope its something I can fix. AMD Athlon 3800+ Memory - 2GB Video Card: Nvidia 7800GT Windows XPRob2 Sep 7, 2010
Sep 7, 2010 B.Net Game Freezing for All Players in Game Hey, Anyone have this happen?: Was in a game with 3 others and about 10 minutes in, everything on screen freezes. At first I assume it's me and start cursing the internet Gods. The music is still playing, the environmental animations on-screen are still happening but no commands can be issued and all units are stuck in place and all menus seem functional. I was about to leave when one of the other players says "I think I'm lagging." I was surprised because I figured I shouldn't be able to get any messages if it was just me. Then the 4 of us realize we can talk, and somehow the game has "frozen" on the b.net side of things. Lasted for 10 minutes - until I got bored of trying to figure out what was going on and left the game. Anyone else have this happen? Anti2 Sep 7, 2010

Sep 7, 2010 Ladder Issues I'm getting an intermittent issue with ladder games in 2v2. On 2 of my teams it continues to show "5 placement matches remaining" even though we've already placed in a ladder. It worked one day then stopped the next. I'm not sure if it comes and goes or just went. It shows fine for my partner, shows fine at the end of the game, shows fine in my list of ladders. It just doesn't show right on the main screen in multiplayer mode when we're in a party. Blackstone1 Sep 7, 2010

Sep 7, 2010 Increase maximum temporary replays? title says it all... is there a way to increase the maximum temporary replays that are kept before I save them? Sep 7, 2010 Unable to join (random) multiplayer games... Subject line pretty much says it all. I can join and play custom games and even host them, and i can play 2v2 and 3v3 when i join a party and queue with friends. However, when i want to play by myself i can not find a match. It just says "expanding search, searching for more players" forever and i never end up finding anyone. Ive waited 10 minutes before and not a single match. I go to a university and i know they block p2p programs, but i find it odd i can play 3v3 when i join my friend's party and he queues but i cannot find a game by myself. Are there any solutions to this?Lettuce0 Sep 7, 2010

Sep 7, 2010 Fuzzy soft shadows Not sure if its normal for SC2. In actual gameplay I have no problems with graphics, but when I'm in the story mode the edges of some shadows on, say, raynors face appear pixely, even on Ultra settings. Is there a way to remedy this in variables.txt, or is this something driver related. I don't have any screenshots myself to show what I'm talking about, but I'll use this video as an example. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eo1BPrMCUgU Is there a way to get the lines between the shadows and light more defined, like when you see the strands of light on Raynors face.Chaos0 Sep 7, 2010
Sep 7, 2010 Graphic bug on bridge view-screen in campaign I'm experiencing a bit of a bug with the view-screen on the bridge in campaign - the one you use to replay missions and cinematics. The background of the screen is a flat greenish colour, rather than whatever texture it's supposed to be. As far as I know, the rest of the game all looks fine, except for this one screen. Here is an image of the screen: http://i54.tinypic.com/s2w2mc.png Any ideas as to what's wrong? Nero0 Sep 7, 2010
Sep 7, 2010 Can we get our cd key back? I got starcraft 2 everything runs I got no problem expect I lost my cd key and now I am afraid of what would happen if I need to install it again, anyone can tell me if I just got to be careful or blizzard can tell me what it is so I can save it somewhere and not let this problem happen or have to buy another game just because of a little mistake I know some people might say well its your fault but thats still shouldnt be a issue for someone that is regiserted on sc2 paid everything and then if something happens have to pay for a new one because of a little mistake, I just dont want to spend another 60$ ecomony is horrblie and I dont think I can get another one until it goes down to 30-50$ I like blizzard but I may stop using them as to this issue where just because of a mistake I got to pay for another game I might as well just stop buying and go somewhere else. Might be not good but at least I can play w/o worrying about my cd keySWoCLeader5 Sep 7, 2010

Sep 7, 2010 cannot add friends hey, the issue is that the area where you type in the friends BNet email address is completely grey. I see the area, but I cannot click it or enter anything into it. I also cannot see any of my friend requests / send any through facebook, etc. I've already reinstalled the game in hopes it downloaded wrong, but the problem is still there. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.Ocelot1 Sep 7, 2010

Sep 6, 2010 Question about windowed mode! The reason why I play SC2 windowed is because I get an increased frame rate. However, a problem that I have is that the cursor goes outside the window if I move my mouse too far. This is particularly annoying when I am trying to play the game and my cursor moves away. Is there a way to make it so that the cursor does not go outside? Thanks.Korn1 Sep 6, 2010
Sep 6, 2010 in-game saved screen function not working? hey all i've been having difficulty getting the screen-save feature to work so i can quickly pop around the map. For some reason, CTRL+F8 saves a screen to f8, but any time i try and save a screen to f9,f10,f11, or f12 i just takes me to the corresponding menu option rather than the screen i saved it to. is there something i particular i need to do to get this to work? thanksSpooN0 Sep 6, 2010
Sep 6, 2010 play as guest my cousin likes to play sc2, but of course he is only 10 and no way his parents will give him 60 bucks for a game. so i have the game, and i let him play on my computer if he's been good. can't really give him the pass since it is my account, so i let him play as guest and he's having fun, enjoying the comp stomp and doing the campaign on easy. but i'm usually away on the weekend and i think that's when they do patches or something but every weekend when i leave he cannot get on, because sc2 requires an "active" sc2 acc to play as guest. this is just annoying for him since he can't play when he has free time unless i decide to change my password every week. he just wants to do a comp stomp, that's all he wants, let him have a little fun. is there anyway around this, or shall i just do something that's technically legal since i have bought the game. trekkie3 Sep 6, 2010
Sep 6, 2010 "Temporary Outage" I was playing fine just yesterday, now when I try to log into the game and put in my password, it gave me the message that Battle.net has had a temporary outage. I followed the advice in the sticky, but now when I changed my password and try to log into SC2, it won't even allow me to try and put in my password before the error message comes up. Any ideas on what to do?DarKNeSS0 Sep 6, 2010

Sep 6, 2010 Brand new Dell - 1 day old BSOD Crashes Good day all, I had a Gen3 XPS system from Dell when I first bought SC2 and the game was simply unplayable so I went ahead and bit the bullet and bought a brand new Studio XPS 9100 system with Windows 7 64 Bit Home Premium. The vid card that came stock with it was garbage so I just threw my old ATI Radeon HD 4800in the new system upon getting the new system. I only plan on running games on the new system and thats it so I immediately removed all the bloatware on it and anti virus garbage off of the system. To make a long story short after 4 missions and approximately 12 hours of gameplay thegame as already BSOD crashed on me twice already once with the POS original card that came with the system a Nvidia Geforce 310, which caused me to decide to put the ATI Radeon card in the system. Then 30 minutes later same thing with updated drivers and the ATI 4800 HD in the system. Again this system is 1 DAY OLD! Its no wonder everyone is giving up on PC gaming... Anyone know whats up with this new system???WhiteDragon15 Sep 6, 2010
