Balance Patch Coming Soon - July 22

Hello everyone,

Thank you for playing on the balance test map and giving us detailed feedback on not only the current changes being tested but also the previous changes that were discussed and tested. After gathering more feedback, playtesting in more detail, and analyzing recent games at the highest level, we’ve decided that we’d like to implement a balance patch with the changes that are currently being tested.

We believe the Thor change is effective and will be quite safe, while the Widow Mine change is significant and pushes the strength of the unit to the point that it’s a major threat. The Time Warp change will also have a significant impact, however, we feel that both the strength of Protoss and weakness of Terran in the highest level tournaments has continued a bit too long and we’d like to act with a bigger set of changes this time around.

While we feel these changes are significant, we’ve also heard feedback that they may not be drastic enough. In either case, we feel there is a higher than normal chance that current strategies will be heavily impacted. We’ll be watching closely after the patch is released to make sure that everything is going as expected with Protoss and Terran and we’ll focus our efforts in the coming weeks to make sure the game is in a better state. Thank you for everyone’s help, and we look forward to seeing the results of the next patch soon.

Note: A full list of the upcoming changes can be found here.
Thanks for the update, and keep up the good work!
Oh...Ok.
It s good to see you trying everything to kill Templar Openings.
Thanks a lot for trying everything to make the game more versatile and dynamic.

My real thoughts:

Huh?

Templar opening has been dead since the first WM shield buff.

It was at least possible to go for a templar build if you re ahead through whatever.
Now even attempting to go for templar builds is equal to building carriers or a mothership.
Excellent news! Help is on the way terrans.
I dont even know what to say.... Blizzard you dont listen to advice.... gg

EDIT - I just dont understand how this can go through with all the other buffs that terran has received. I agree that something needs done to help in the viable AOE. But anyone who was around for season 1 HOTS knows what is going to happen. Parade pushes all day long there will not be a lategame ZvT anymore.
Good changes.

Terran needed some sort of splash against Zerg.

I don't know... while Zerg had the ability to make a 200/200 army better and better (even a muta/ling/bane one, the more banes you have the better), Terran was kinda stuck with what it had once it reached 3/3.

The mass bane Zerg comp should look less scary to the passive Terran now.
Thank you blizzard. Don't listen to protoss and zerg QQ .... btw I hope that you will make terran tier 3 units viable again maybe in LotV. As I like to say better late than never ...

Not true.

9/12 pro gamers thought WM radius buff was good.
Hi!

These changes are nice and cool, I am curious to see how they work out on ladder and tournaments, and as a terran I am really fine with this.

Please take a look at TvT, recently you buffed siege tanks, mixed armory upgrades, removed the transformation servos upgrade and made mech vs bio really really strong, before these changes I had close to 70% winrate in TvT, now it's 39% playing only bio.

I also noticed people talking about ravens, I had no opinion so far but I played a TvT, the mech player didn't attack for 50 minutes directly, and we ended up playing skyterran, the way seeker missles workk prevent any direct fights, the game ended after one and a half hour, and I learned that battle cruisers are useless in late game, while pdd and auto-turret work fine and fun
