I can't play offline.

Mac Technical Support
So like I stated in the old thread, I had to drive 20 mins to get to my buddies place just so I could post this. Very inconvienant considering gas prices in Germany are sky high. I expect to be reimbursed for that. Second, last week I played offline mode with no problems, but today I can't. Says I need to login and authenticate to play in offline mode. Pretty sure when I enter my email address and my password, that should be enough authentication. That is the whole point of them correct? I have NO internet at all at my place. What do you suggest blizzard? I force the Germans to give me internet?

I've already answered your post, but the short story is that this is how SC2 was designed to work. You will have to authenticate every 30 days.

Why did the Shadow Priest's account expire? Too lazy to drop Shadowform to Renew.
Bah-ah-ah-ah-rains!!!
Hey, have you figured out how to play offline yet? I'm in same situation right here. Can't get it to work. Let me know if you find out how. Thanks
Cain,

Have you reauthorized the game for offline play by connecting to Battle.net?

What do you call heavy rains in Mulgore? A Taurential downpour....
Bah-ah-ah-ah-rains!!!
I type in my battle net account name and it won't let me click the "connect" button. I can log on to my account and edit but I can't even play the game.....offline or on. I just played yesterday and now no......what could have possibly changed. I did nothing to the computer.
Ok, so your Battle.net account name should be your email address. It won't allow you to connect unless you have a full email address in it. Is this what you are putting or your SC2 character name?

How silly...
I have connected to battle.net tons of times, usually daily, but even the same day that I was connected earlier in the day, later it won't let me play offline if I have shut my computer down. This 'every 30 days' is bull. I log into my account daily and it still won't let me play offline if I have no internet and have shut my computer down.
There are 2 ways to play offline:

Guest Play
Guest play is accessed by clicking the "Play as Guest" button on the login screen. This gives you access to three accounts local to that computer that will let you play the single-player portions of the game, including the campaign, challenge missions, and skirmish mode versus the AI. Note that achievements and online progress are only enabled while logged in to Battle.net.

Offline Play
If no connection to Battle.net is available, StarCraft II offers offline play on your StarCraft II character. A prompt will appear upon attempting to login, stating that Battle.net is not able to be reached. By selecting "Play Offline," you can continue your campaign or play single-player skirmishes and challenges, including those unlocked on your registered StarCraft II character. As with Guest Play, achievements and other online functionality are not available in offline play.

Do you mean when you turn of the internet completely and not shut your computer down?

Pfft! Secret doors, who needs 'em? What do I care about secret doors?... and the unparalleled delights they keep hidden from the world!
When I have logged into battle.net once, I can play offline or online as long as I don't turn off my computer. I can log in once, then take my computer to the park or wherever, as long as I don't turn it off, and I can play.

Once I reboot my computer, then I can not play offline. I must get back onto the internet, login to battle.net, then I can play for as long as my computer is turned on.

EVERY time I reboot my computer, if I try to play offline without first logging in with an internet connection, it does that stupid 'authenticate' message.
This sounds like it may be a permissions issue or some corruption. Have you tried the additional troubleshooting steps?

Reset the permissions on your Starcraft II folder:
    1. Select the Starcraft II folder
    2. Press Command + I
    3. In the Info box, go to the Sharing & Permissions section and click on the lock and unlock it, entering your admin password when prompted.
    4. Make sure you have Read & Write permissions
    5. Click on the Burst icon (cog wheel) and select Apply to enclosed items

Please use the steps below to repair file permission settings on the hard drive.
    1. Navigate to /Applications/Utilities/ and open Disk Utility
    2. Select the hard drive the game is installed on
    3. Select the First Aid option
    4. Click on the Repair Disk Permissions button

Also try running the Repair Tool from Applications/Starcraft II/Support.

I stupidly put my complaint in the MAC tech forum and I use a PC. However, I did change the permissions on the folder like you said and changed all the subfolders as well. Repair didn't find anything and I have recently done a fresh install. Will see if the sharing thing helped.

Edit: Nope, didn't work.
You should post in the Windows forums, as Mac solutions are different and may not work.

same problem here.. and I even created a thread bout this like 1-2 months ago..
and no blues ever posted in my thread..
and now it is mysteriously gone.. I dont know if it is because blizzard delete the threads discussing offline play on purpose.. or maybe its still there but i cannot link to the thread I made..

wake up blizzard..! the "authenticate in 30 days" isnt working..!!

pls FIX this in next patch..
i bought SC2 at gamestop, and i have put in the authentication key already. i can play will connected to the internet. but when i am not connected, it says that its not connected to the server, and i cant play because i have a starter account. but i paid for it, and authenticated it.... now what?
This may mean the game is not fully up to date even thought the launcher says it is. Try this:

Repairing StarCraft II
    1. Navigate to /Applications/StarCraft II/Battle.net
    2. Delete the Battle.net.MPQ file
    3. Launch StarCraft II

This will force the game to see it is missing data and self repair.
I am having this same issue. I can play online, but when I try to play offline, it says I have not downloaded 100% of the game data. The "Play as guests" option is also greyed out when I log in, and it says I need to download all the game data in order to play offline when I scroll over it.

This is very frustrating because I have to hook up my computer in another room to get internet. A room which is not my own.

Thank you
This is a known bug for 1.5.3. There isn't an ETA yet, but when we know more, we'll post more info.

I don't know about other people, but when my internet goes down I sure don't get 30 days. It seems to randomly choose when to stop working and require me to authenticate my account. And for the record, the 'play as guest' option doesn't always work.

I would prefer that I could authenticate my account once, and then play whenever I want. Considering how much I paid for this game I'm very disappointed that I can't always play it when internet is down for extended periods of time.
