Any help on this? I've reset my DNS cache and have verified the permissions of all the folders. I can read and write everywheere!

Thanks
There are some AUS/NZ users who have had DNS issues in which temporarily switching to using Google's DNS servers (and thus not their own ISP's) to resolve the issue. Can you try that out?

I apologize if this sounds rude, but seriously?

What could possibly go wrong that would require me to do all that? Why is Blizzard having such difficulty with Mac users? The amount of times I need to come on these forums to get help is staggering.

Anyway, I am not very good with computers, and that whole thing just sounds like a pain in the !@#. Hell, i'd rather reinstall.

I suppose there's no other way out?
The issue I mentioned is happening for some internet service provides, and not our end. We've checked with our servers and AT&T (backbone network), and haven't seen any issues.

This workaround is to test to see if it is your internet service provider.
Okay. I switched the DNS servers and it is still a problem.

Same error. Any other workarounds?
And we're talking about the live version of StarCraft II right? Just making sure this isn't relating to beta.

Can you do a trace route to us and see if we can see if there are any issues along the way?

Ok, done... Not really sure what any of this means but there are stars at the bottom of the traceroute text.

Any suggestions? Should I send this to you or anything?
I have the same problem, activate ticket, waiting for reply

It seems surprising to me that this would occur to many different people over many different service providers within such a small time period if the fault were not on Blizzard's end.

It seems more likely to me that Blizzard screwed something up which then caused many people to not be able to play their game instead of many people's service providers - over many countries (for example, I am in France right now) - suddenly all messing up simultaneously.

Regardless... any update on this?
Nothing yet, as mentioned before there isn't much we can find on our end that points to issue. We have a post here that explains a little more details for South East Asia users: http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/7708411977

At this point there isn't much we can suggest. It is still being looked into though.

Can you post your trace route?
I'm a North American user.

In any case, here's my traceroute.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do.

Thanks
This is really upsetting... how come i cant play SC2 any more!
I'm not a mac User but I'm getting this problem.
Yep same problem here
If you're in the South East Asia region, then this is a known issue with some ISPs when connecting to North American servers. This isn't something that we can address on our side, as the happens before the connection reaches our servers.

The domain name server (DNS) helps translate domain names (like us.blizzard.com) into an Internet Protocol (IP numbers like 12.129.242.31) which then can properly get mapped to the right resource. What is happening is that the game is trying to get to it's end destination but when it attempts to go though the ISP's DNS, the servers are not translating the IP number correctly or at all, thus having this issue. This is why using a public domain name server (like Google's) works for now.

This can also happen with a few select ISPs in other regions.

The workaround listed in the link above can help you get back into the game until the issue is resolved.
Out of interest, what has changed? I am having the same problem and i have been playing on the america server since i bought the game when it was released in 2010 with no problem at all.

I am apprehensive about changing to a public domain server, and it shouldn't really be necessary. Something must have changed on your end?
The specific problem seems to be that many ISP's DNS servers in the SEA region are resolving "us.depot.battle.net" to 68.232.45.253, which does not work. Google's DNS server resolves it to 12.120.152.128, which does work. This problem started happening 2-3 weeks ago.

I've asked my own ISP about it and they suspect the problem is coming from Akamai - it's their server which is giving out the wrong IP address (see http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/7708411977?page=5#88 for the details).

Obviously it's not as simple as Blizzard just asking Akamai to fix their servers, or it would have been fixed by now. It would be nice to find out what progress is being made though!
Thanks for the additional input, Nobody. I'll send this up to our team to see if they are aware of the issue with Akamai.
Thanks Nobody, I also read your comments on the other forum. Such a great help. People like you make online gaming such a great place to be. See you on the ladder!
