I am also having the same problem. Everything was fine before patch 2.06, now I can't get over 15 fps on a brand new retina 15 inch macbook >_<
I would just like to say, Seeker you are the man! Turning AA to app controlled in the nvidia menu fixed my game entirely I went from having to put shaders onto medium to just have barely 30 fps to putting everything on extreme and turn indirect shadows on and having 40-60 fps. Thanks bro! :D
Setting my AMD (Radeon HD 6850) card to "Use application settings" for AA through Catalyst Control Centre also did the trick for me, so it may not be a Nvidia specific issue.
I'm getting incredibly low fps as well. I played up to the point when all the eggs I collected hatch in the spawning pool and it dropped my frame rate from 60 to 20. I can't play like this. WoL ran perfectly for me at max settings. What's going on here?

i7 950 3.2ghz
6gb ram
GTX 480
Win 7 64bit
Bump for blue response, the issue isn't going away just because if you ignore it.

I know you already have our money but how about some support....???
have u guys tried playing on a different server (like EU)? my framerate seemed much too low for my system as well and noticed a sizable fps bump when I played on EU
Same prob. Beat the campaign with no issues. Only time I notice FPS drop is in multi-player. After the game is going for a while, it just slowly drops out to unplayable.

Upgrading my drivers now and going to try what was said above.

Watercooled I7 OC to 4gigs with a watercooled OC'ed 280
Bump.

My HD 6770 used to run 4v4 games with everything set at ultra, averaging in the 40s and 50s, dropping in the 30s during large fights.

After upgrading to expansion, I dropped all settings to high and yet, 10 minutes into a 4v4 game I'm getting 25 fps, dropping in the low teens during engagements.

I understand that the graphics engine has been updated, but this is too large a drop. Downgrading a whole tier in graphics, and yet still averaging 20fps less can't have been intended. Not to mention that, by the looks of it, my case is nowhere near the worst.
Same problem here.
I'm running it on an Alienware m14x with a 3GB GeForce GT555M. I get constant fps drops while on multiplayer, specifically when there are a lot of units on screen (even on the lowest settings, implying that there is something wrong).
The game is whitelisted and I have the latest NVIDIA Drivers Seems weird since WoL ran just fine.

I hope that this gets fixed soon...
I don't believe it, I thought it is just me experiencing a great performance drop from wol to hots...looks like I'm not alone...
If you have an Nvidia card, go into the Nvidia control panel, 3D settings, set Anti-Aliasing to application controlled and let set it to Off in the game.

I literally doubled my framerate, and at 1920x1080, you won't even notice it's off.

I suspect it's an Nvidia default setting, because I don't remember turning it on. Regardless, kill AA, get lots of FPS.

+10 for this post.

Once I did this I was able to set my shader to High and everything else was maxed out and running smooth @ 30 FPS. Thanks for the heads up as this was very helpful.

interesting, I'll try this tonight. thanks!

I absolutely had to jump in here and comment: THIS ABSOLUTELY WORKS.

Sorry for the caps, but I think people having issues with graphics with an nVidia card need to look at this very closely. I have a mid-range computer, nothing elite, but it ran WoL on max settings with AT LEAST 30 FPS at all times, then HoTS came out and with everything set to extreme (recommended by game) I was getting about 3 or 4 FPS, in other words it was completely unplayable. After toying around with the settings, I found out what many of you mentioned before which is that it seems to be the shaders setting. Having that on Ultra, or even High will drop my FPS down terribly, meanwhile none of the other settings seem to have an adverse effect on my FPS. I was able to get to a steady 25-30fps by turning Shaders to medium and everything else that I was allowed to max, I maxed.

However, I was still unsatisfied so I tried out what this poster mentioned and it legitimately works. I don't know why this was happening, but for some reason my nvidia control panel settings were overriding my application settings (even though I have it set to let the 3d app decide settings). So, I specifically went into the profile for SC2 and changed it to application control, went back into the game, maxed everything out except for AA (off) and boom, steady 30ish FPS. Sorry for the long post, but this is awesome and I'm upset I waited this long to fix it.

If you are having trouble, at least give this a shot!!

Can you please elaborate on the part were you went into the SC2 profile to change it. I also have a Radeon and my system setting show at "User application settings", thanks in advance.

I also have a Radeon HD 6850 but that doesn't help. terrible fps in mutiplayer starting at mid game at medium setting. What about the morphological filtering, anisotropic filtering, tessellation, texture filtering quality setting ?

I set the "wait for vertical refresh " to always off /performance and "anti-aliasing mode" to Multi-sample AA in Catalyst Control Centre .

how to went into the profile for SC2 and changed it to application control?
AMD Quad core 965BE @3.8Ghz
Nvidia GTX660
8 gigs DDR3

Went from never dropping below ~45fps in big fights in 2v2s to ~15fps.

Even 1v1s against AI are choppy and stuttery with huge FPS drop during late game.

Gonna give Blizzard a few months to fix this since they're no longer the company they once were.

Glad there are other RTS games out there that run at a clean 60 fps from start to finish because their programmers know how to do their job properly.

EDIT: This is with all graphics settings as low as they'll go.
Same problem here. This is not a graphics settings issue.

I had 60-120 FPS back in WoL on ultra settings depending on action on the screen. Haven't played for a while, and now with the latest updates and HotS I get 20-50 FPS on both ultra and high settings, with only 40% CPU usage and 15-30% GPU usage and GPU temps hovering around 50 celsius. Turning off SLI makes no difference, switching between fullscreen/windowed makes no difference, all antialias settings are off.

Even lowest possible settings results in 20 FPS in big battles which I never came anywhere close to in WoL on ultra settings.

i5-750 @ 3.8 GHz
2x GTX 570
8 GB RAM
Win 8 64-bit
Tried both 314.07 and 314.21 Nvidia drivers
same problem here. Im playing on all low settings now because anything else is just trashy.
