We now utilizes temp summons to deal the majority of our damage which cost Soul Shards, Soul Shards cap at 5. We generate Soul Shards via shadowbolt, demonwrath,Doom ticks and if talented Shadowflame and a 50% chance on Demonic empowerment with power trip. Our mastery also changed from being flat damage +big boost during meta into a flat damage boost for our pets when Demonic empowerment is active. We also no longer have weapon drops as we all now have artifact weapons, we utilise the Skull of the Man'ari (Thal'kiel) who will serve as our path for character progression this xpac while also roasting us from time to time and making quips on what we do.Nakkiel38 19m

Most of this will be touched on in more detail in the Rotation section. 1-1 Soul Shards The biggest change coming with Legion is our secondary resource. We no longer have Burning Embers (R.I.P. 2012-2016) and have moved back to using Soul Shards. Souls Shards are not partially filled by non-Shard spending abilities and you can have a maximum of 5. Soul Shards degrade/regenerate to 1 Shard outside of combat. Conflagrate and Immolate are now our main source of Soul Shards. Casting Conflagrate gives you a Soul Shard and Immolate has a chance every tick to reward a Shard (15% chance on tick, doubled if the tick Crits). Chaos Bolt and Rain of Fire are our baseline Shard spenders, costing 2 and 3 shards respectively. And don't worry, Rain of Fire actually does damage now. 1-2 The Scepter of Sargeras We no longer have weapon drops in Legion, but we have a spec specific Artifact weapon: The Scepter of Sargeras. This staff serves as our character progression throughout the max level experience in Legion, providing a number of Traits ranging from a new ability, Dimensional Rift, to increases in damage to several spells (See section 3 for more details). Throughout Legion, you'll earn Artifact Power and Artifact Knowledge, which increases Artifact Power drops for that character, that can be used to gain Traits. There are also hidden effects that the Artifact has. A list of all know hidden and PvE relevant effects can be found below... when some are discovered. ...2-1 Stats and How They Affect You Intellect: Increases your Spell Power at a rate of 1 Int = 1 SP. Spell Power increases the damage done by all of your spells.Critical Strike: Gives most of your spells a random chance to deal additional damage (around double in PvE). Increases the damage dealt by Chaos Bolt at flat rate (eg. 20% Crit rating increases Choas Bolt's damage by 20%).Haste: Reduces the cast time of all your spells. Increases the rate at which Damage over Time spells (Immolate) tick. Reduces the cooldown of Conflagrate charges.Mastery: Causes your spells to deal a random amount of additional damage, up to a percentage. Also causes damage you take to be reduced by a random amount, up to between a fourth or fifth of the percentage above.Versatility: Increases all damage and healing done by a percentage. Reduces the damage taken by half of the above percentage.Multistrike...? Multistrike has been removed in Legion and has been replaced by another stat on old gear. 2-2 Racial Bonuses Alliance Dwarf: Might of the Mountain - Increases your critical strike damage/healing by 2%. Gnome: Nimble Fingers - Increases haste by 1%. Human: The Human Spirit - Increases all secondary stats by 2% from all sources. Worgen: Viciousness - Increases critical strike chance by 1%. Horde Blood Elf: Arcane Acuity - Increases critical strike chance by 1%. Goblin: Time is Money - Increases haste by 1%. Orc: Blood Fury - Increases your Spell/Attack power by 2243 (at level 110) for 15 seconds. 2 minute cooldown. Troll: Berserking - Increases your haste by 15% for 10 seconds. Undead: Touch of the Grave - Your spells have a small chance to deal extra damage to the target, healing you for the same amount. 2-3 Tier Bonuses, Legendaries and Other Notable Items Order Hall Set - Vestments of The Black Harvest This is a set of ilvl 810 gear earned through your Class Hall campaign. 2 Piece - Increase your out-of-combat regeneration in outdoor Broken Isles zones. 4 Piece - While you are below 35% health you take 50% reduced damage in outdoor Broken Isles zones. 6 Piece - Intellect increased by 500. 8 Piece - Spending a Soul Shard has a chance to increase your Mastery by 2000 for 12 seconds. The Arcway and Court of Stars Sets In the Mythic-only dungeons, The Arcway and Court of Stars, there are several 2 piece sets; one for each armour type and two for every class/spec. Journey Through Time - Trinket and Neck: The effect from Chrono Shard (trinket proc) now increases your movement speed by 30% and grants an additional 1000 Haste. March of the Legion - Neck and Finger: Your spells and abilities have a chance to deal an additional 27200 to 36800 Fire damage. Nightwell Arcanum - Head and Shoulders: Your spells have a chance to increase your Haste by 3000 for 15 seconds. Tier 19 Set - Legacy of Azj'Aqir This set will not be available until The Nighthold raid is opened. 2 Piece - Conflagrate gains an additional charge and its charge cooldown is reduced by 3 seconds. 4 Piece - Casting Chaos Bolt reduces the cast time of your next Chaos Bolt by 20% for 2 seconds. Legendaries In Legion, Legendary items have been introduced as world drops, giving you a bonus similar to Epic world drops of old. They can range from bonuses for any class, ranged, Warlocks or Destruction specifically. They currently drop from PvE bosses, World Quest Chests and PvP strongboxes. At release, you will only be able to equip one Legendary at a time; this limit will likely increase as the expansion progresses. Prydaz, Xavaric's Magnum Opus - Neck - All Classes: After not taking damage for 5 seconds, you gain an absorb shield for 25% of your maximum health for 30 seconds. This effect may occur once every 30 seconds. Sephuz's Secret - Finger - All Classes: Successfully applying a loss of control effect to an enemy grants you 70% increased movement speed and 15% Haste for 10 seconds. This effect may only occur once every 30 seconds. Norgannon's Foresight - Feet - Warlocks, Priests and Mages: Your instant cast spells have a chance to trigger Foresight, making your next cast time spell castable while moving. Pillars of the Dark Portal - Legs - Warlocks: Demonic Gateway now casts instantly and you can use Demonic Gateways twice before triggering a cooldown. Alythess's Pyrogenics - Finger - Destruction: Enemies effected by your Rain of Fire take 7% increased damage from your Fire spells. Odr, Shawl of the Ymirjar - Back - Destruction: Enemies marked by your Havoc take 8% increased damage from your single target spells. Feretory of Souls - Waist - Destruction: Casting a damaging Fire spell has a 15% chance to generate a Soul Shard. Magistrike Restraints - Wrist - Destruction: Chaos Bolt has a 30% chance to strike an additional enemy within 30 yards. 2-4 Stat Builds, Gems and Enchants These priorities will change based on Talent choices, Artifact progression and target counts. The priorities and enchants/gems suggested below will provide a good stat priority for most situations. Stat Priorities Haste is currently our best secondary stat by a large margin, likely due to Immolate tick and Conflag recharge interaction. Crit is our second best stat, whilst Mastery and Versatility are more or less similar with Vers pulling just ahead of Mastery. In short: Haste > Crit >> Vers >= Mastery Note: If you invest heavily in mastery, you will experience huge swings in damage from fight to fight based on how lucky you are. If you would rather have a more consistent build, consider avoiding Mastery in favor of other stats Gems Currently, socketing Haste gems should be your priority. Enchants For Cloak and Ring enchants, Haste should also be your priority. Neck Enchant Mark of the Hidden Satyr is currently our best neck enchant. Food, Flasks and Pots You should be using Haste food, Flask of the Whispered Pact and Potion of Deadly Grace. ...3-1 Talents Talents have been through a significant rework in Legion; there are many more Talents that effect your DPS throughput now and not in a "Pick Your Different Flavour of AoE/Single Target/Cleave Talent in this Row" structure either. As such, there are a lot of different set ups for a lot of different situations where you'd want to change talents; many different setups may even excel on a per Boss basis. My aim with this section is to provide an optimal pure ST build and the basis for a dungeon build, then examine each row to show why you would deviate or stay with the suggested Talents on each row. Roaring Blaze: Conflagrate increases your remaining Immolate damage on the target by 25% until Immolate is refreshed or expires. Shadowburn: Blasts a target for 316% Spell Power. Generates 2 Soul Shards if the target dies within 5 seconds. Instant. Costs 1 Soul Shard.Discussion: In Single Target, Roaring Blaze should be picked as it pulls ahead of Backdraft and scales with Haste. If you have low haste (exact number to be determined, probs <20%), Backdraft can pull ahead of Roaring Blaze. For situations with a consistent flow of dying adds, Shadowburn's shard refunds will pull ahead (you should not use Shadowburn over Chaos Bolt unless you will get the Shards from said target dying). Tier Two: Reverse Entropy: Reduces the cast time of Chaos Bolt and Rain of Fire by 0.5 seconds and they refund 35% of your maximum mana. Cataclysm: Conjures a cataclysm at the target location, dealing 700% Spell Power Shadowflame damage to all enemies within 8 yards and afflicts them with Immolate. 3 second cast. 45 second cooldown. Mana Tap: Consumes 25% of your current mana to grant 10% increased damage for 20 seconds.Discussion: Mana Tap currently pulls ahead of Reverse Entropy in ST, but misusing it (dropping buff or going oom) is punishing. Cataclysm should be taken when burst AoE is required and it can be used on multiple targets/add waves on cooldown. Tier Three: Demon Skin: Your Soul Leech now recharges by 1% maximum health every second, and you may now absorb up to 20% maximum health. Mortal Coil: Horrifies an enemy target into fleeing, Incapcitating them for 3 seconds an healing your for 11% maximum health. Shadowfury: Stuns all enemies within 8 yards for 4 seconds. 1.5 second cast time. 30 second cooldown.Discussion: Demon Skin is your go-to for this tier. The other two talents are very situational but can have niches in Dungeons, particularly Mythic+. Tier Four: Eradication: Chaos Bolt increases damage dealt to the target by 12% for 6 seconds. Fire and Brimstone: Incinerate now hits all enemies near the target. Soul Harvest: Increases the damage of you and your pets by 20%. Lasts 10 seconds, increased by 2 seconds for each target afflicted by Immolate, up to a maximum of 30 seconds.Discussion: Eradication should be used for ST and cleave, and is very potent with Wreak Havoc. When you rarely use Chaos Bolt, choose FnB for constant cleave or Soul Harvest when can consistently get 10 or more extra seconds on cooldown, particularly good when paired with Cataclysm. Tier Five: Demonic Circle: Summons a Demonic Circle for 6 minutes, allowing you to teleport to its location and remove all movement slowing effects. Limit 1. 0.5 second cast. Burning Rush: Increases your movement speed by 50%, but also damages you for 4% of your maximum health every 1 sec. Movement impairing effects may not reduce you below 100% of normal movement speed. Lasts until cancelled. Dark Pact: Sacrifices 20% of your current demon's health to shield you for 400% of the sacrificed health for 20 seconds. If you have no demon active, your health is sacrificed instead. Usable while under control impairing effects.Discussion: This is largely preferential. Dark Pact is great for soaking mechanics and the other two provide different forms of movement abilities (keeping in mind Demonic Circle requires a cancleaura macro to replace it once placed). Take either DC or BR unless you need to soak damage. Tier Six: Grimoire of Supremacy: Doomguard and Infernal can now be used as permanent pets. Grimoire of Service: Summon a second demon for 25 seconds that deals 100% increased damage. 1.5 min cooldown. They will additionally perform their utility action on summon. Grimoire of Sacrifice: Sacrifice your current demon to gain Demonic Power, which causes your spells to sometimes deal 100% Spell Power Shadow damage to the target and enemies within 8 yards. Approx. 20 RPPM. Lasts 1 hour or until another permanent Demon pet is summoned.Discussion: Some important things to note about this tier: Sacrifice no longer gives you a spell on Command Demon, so choosing which demon to summon does not matter as this talent prevents you from using a pet's Command Demon ability without re-summoning. Also, Supremacy changes Lord of Flames to be activated on an Infernal's Meteor Strike ability (which you should turn off auto-cast to control when it is used). For AoE or stacked cleave, use Sacrifice. In ST, you should use Service over Supremacy. Tier Seven: Wreak Havoc: Havoc now lasts 20 seconds and has no cooldown. Channel Demonfire: Launches 15 bolts of felfire over 3 seconds to random targets afflicted with Immolate. Each bolt deals 42% Spell Power Fire damage. Soul Conduit: Each Soul Shard spent has a 20% chance to be refunded.Discussion: Single Target, Channel Demonfire and Soul Conduit appear to be close. CDF has good synergy with Eradication when its cast within Eradication windows. Soul Conduit will become more valuable when more shards are available to you, especially with legendaries (15% chance of shard on Fire spell). Wreak Havoc excels at permanent 2 targets, possibly Council/3 targets. Loses value when Rain of Fire is your Shard dump, where Soul Conduit pulls ahead. 3-2 Artifact Traits Artifact Calculator: http://legion.wowhead.com/artifact-calc/warlock/destruction/AqSCImA Active Ability - Dimensional Rift The first trait you receive with the Scepter is Dimensional Rift. This is an instant cast spell with 3 charges and a 45 second cooldown. This spell will open one of three rifts, chosen randomly, to deal damage to your current target. This can be in the form of a huge chunk of Fel (Chaos Rift), a rapid fire succession of Shadowfel bolts (Nether Rift) or a slower slew of Shadow bolts (Shadow Rift). These currently appear to not have infinite range and will cease dealing damage if their target moves out of their range. Use of this ability will be covered more in the Rotations section. Golden Traits Dimension Ripper: Incinerate has a 5% chance to grant a charge of Dimensional Rift. Lord of Flames: Once every 10 minutes, your Summon Infernal (Infernal's Meteor Strike with GrimSup) summons 3 extra Infernals for 25 seconds. Conflagration of Chaos: Conflagration has a chance to guarantee your next Conflagrate critically strikes, and to increase its damage by your critcal strike chance. Other interesting Traits Soul Snatcher: Chaos Bolt has a 5% (+5% for each addition level) to refund 1 Soul Shard. Demonic Durability: Reduces the cooldown of your Unending Resolve by 30 seconds. Eternal Struggle: After casting Life Tap, you take 3% (+3% with each level) less damage for 6 seconds Planeswalker: Transporting through your Demonic Gateway increases your movement speed by 30% for 6 seconds. Golden Trait Shortest Paths Getting to each Golden Trait the cheapest way possible is rather simple with the Scepter. The following are the shortest paths to each starting from Flames of the Pit (the trait immediately following Dimensional Rift). Flames of the Pit --> Devourer of Life --> Residual Flames --> Conflagration of Chaos Flames of the Pit ---> Eternal Struggle ---> Burning Hunger ---> Lord of Flames Flames of the Pit ---> Master of Disaster OR Fire From The Sky ---> Demonic Durability ---> Fire and Flames OR Soulsnatcher ---> Chaotic Instability ---> Dimension Ripper Following these paths in any order will not increase the total amount of Artifact Power you need to unlock all 3 as quick as possible so long as you only get one of the two traits in both forks in the Dimension Ripper path. Suggested Trait Path To get the most out of your early Artifact Traits, you should look to get Impish Incineration (Lord of Flames path, detour after Eternal Struggle), then Lord of Flames, then Conflagration of Chaos, and lastly Dimension Ripper before filling out the rest of the Artifact. They provide an item level boost to your Scepter, increasing its stats. Relics also add a rank to one of the traits in your Artifact that have multiple ranks, further increasing the benefit they provide. You will start with 2 Relic slots and unlock a 3rd later in the expansion. Selection of which relics to use will mostly come down to ilevel when leveling, so prioritise higher ilevel relics until you can be picky about the traits the relics buff. 3-4 What about Glyphs? Sep 12 [7.0 Guide] to Logging (the only proven +DPS) Introduction Due to the recent patch and the changes that Warlocks, among other classes, have undergone, people are now more than ever concerned about how they are performing. I believe that the best way to evaluate performance is in evaluating your logs--and, without knowledge of how to analyze logs, or how to log, that's impossible. This guide should cover those sufficiently and allow interested players to improve their performance, or, if they would prefer, ask for help. Foreword Please feel welcome to dispute anything posted. I am very dedicated to making an accurate guide that keeps up with all the newest theorycrafting, and to that extent, I will be doing my best to keep up with recent information--but nobody is perfect. For example, if I wanted to jump to the Known Bugs section, which is in Section 1, and is Subsection 3, I'd type "1-3" into Ctrl-F! ... 1-1: WarcraftLogs WarcraftLogs (https://www.warcraftlogs.com/) is a World of Warcraft fansite dedicated to hosting interactive combat logs and fight rankings for current and past raids in WoW. It is commonly used, to great effect, to evaluate how well someone is performing compared to other players of their spec and to optimal play. By the end of this guide, it is my belief that you will both understand how to evaluate logs and why we evaluate logs. -Why Warcraft Logs? Warcraft Logs is a lot more user-friendly and in-depth than World of Logs--not to mention that its developers (who I am wholly unrelated to) are continuing to update and build on its foundation, where World of Logs, to my knowledge, is remaining stagnant. 1-2: Downloading/Setting Up the Logs Client The WarcraftLogs website is fairly self-explanatory with regards to setting up the client, but in any guide for log analysis must be a guide for actually logging. I've broken it down into a 3 step system. 1: Go to https://www.warcraftlogs.com/ 2: Find this [ http://puu.sh/dxBDb/3fed32d7d1.png ] section--it's in the upper right-hand corner of the home screen. Click "Sign Up," and make an account! 3: Now that you're logged in, go to where you clicked "Sign Up"--your username will have replaced that option! Click your username, and a dropdown menu will appear. Select "Download Client" and install it! Then, start the client on your computer while playing WoW. This window should appear: [ http://puu.sh/dTL5x/25b02f7b54.jpg ] From there, hit Live Log, and you'll arrive at this screen: [ http://puu.sh/dTLcR/ad07786613.jpg ] Then, if you wish, you can select what page to record your logs on (the default, as you can see, is Personal Logs), and click go! Then, all you need to do is enter World of Warcraft, enter "/combatlog" and raid! All the combat you're doing is now being recorded in real time to Warcraft Logs, where it can be analyzed. When you're done, simply type "/combatlog" again in-game to stop recording combat logs, and click "Stop" on the client! Advanced Combat Logging: In game, to enable Advanced Combat Logging, access the main menu (usually by clicking escape), select System, select Network, and check the boss for Advanced Combat Logging. 1-3: Known Bugs Sometimes, when attempting to log, the client will record nothing, or state "Error - Bad Line". While this is not intended, it is more common than isolated--it can be fixed by simply restarting logs. ... 2-1: The Interface The WarcraftLogs interface is intuitive and user-friendly. An example of a log is one of my Personal Logs, found at [ http://tinyurl.com/k66hywk ]. I will be using this log for the purposes of demonstration throughout this guide. [ http://puu.sh/dxCDv/bb44cf32ef.png ] The image above is what you will first see when reading a log. The first page it shows you (the one shown) is a summary of the various measures of performance recorded by the service. Each of the different tabs (Damage Done, Damage Taken, Healing) will take you to a page that details each individual type of performance. These will be covered in the following section. The Graph The Graph can be manipulated and modified to display only certain data--whether you wish to focus on a specific player, a specific damaging mechanic, or a specific portion of the fight. To access a specific portion, simply click and drag from one end of the graph you'd like to observe to the other--it'll automatically display only the information from that slice of the graph. To display a specific player or mechanic, simply select that option from one of the tables below the graph. The Options The options, located in the upper left hand of your screen, will look similar to these [ http://puu.sh/dxD8d/4b43537a58.jpg ]. Each of the selections (The Butcher, All Friendlies, etc.) have a small arrow to their right--indicating the presence of a dropdown menu. You can select these to choose which boss you would like to observe (selecting The Butcher, in this case), which kill of that boss (if there is more than one in a log), or which player/enemy you would like to observe (selecting "All Friendlies" in this case). Views Located just below the graph are three tabs: Tables View, Events View, and Fight Analysis. Tables View provides the standard table of values--useful in other sections for viewing uptimes, percentages, and other numeric values. Events View simply lists each combat log event by time, useful for determining specific cast orders or time between events. [ http://puu.sh/dxDDd/b792b43c05.png ] Fight Analysis is a handy, automatic, mechanics analysis of the fight. It's useful for determining who caused wipes, or what went wrong on a kill. 2-2: The Tabs Damage Done: This is likely your primary tab of interest. When evaluating warlock DPS, it is one of the main two tabs that you will actually be interested in. When you click this tab, it will default to taking you to a screen similar to the summary--a graph, with a tables view of Damage Done and DPS beneath it. [ http://puu.sh/dxDS9/076101ed08.png ] From here, you can observe how your DPS is compared to the rest of your raid for the fight. However, for evaluation, we must look at the specifics. From there, you would click on your name from the tables view--which would take you to a tables view of your abilities used and damaging effects. [ http://puu.sh/dxE0m/b583e10694.png ] Damage Taken This tab is similar in nature to Damage Done, but displays Damage Taken instead. You can use it to determine uptimes of damaging debuffs and other effects in the same manner you would with Damage Done. It is, however, not entirely relevant to evaluating Warlock DPS (very useful to determine who's draining your healers' mana, though!) Healing This tab is similar to both Damage Done and Damage Taken, but again, deals with healing and healing buffs instead. Useful to determine how much you're healing for with self-heals, but not relevant to DPS. Buffs For Warlock DPS analysis, the Buffs tab will be fairly invaluable. It is a graph -- which is less interesting than the preeceeding tabs' graphs -- and a table containing the uptimes of Damage, Defensive, Healing, Movement, and Raid buffs, in addition to stances and unknown buffs. The reason it's important to Warlocks is not to determine if someone had buffs--but to determine how they're reacting to Trinket Procs, using Dark Soul, using their potions, or even Fire and Brimstone in some situations. If you click on a particular player, it will take you to a screen similar to this one: [ http://puu.sh/dxEIj/ae75429356.png ] Debuffs This tab is less important than the others in terms of DPS analysis, but functions similarly to buffs--but with debuffs. Deaths This tab simply displays deaths and the time leading to those deaths--it can be invaluable in determining who is at fault for a given death. Interrupts This tab displays all interrupts used and can be used to fix issues in interrupt orders in raids. Dispels This tab displays dispells and can be used to determine which player is dispelling the most, or if someone dispelled something they were not meant to. Works for both Offensive and Healer dispells. Resources This tab allows you to view resource expenditure/generation over a fight. It can be used for Demonic Fury, Burning Embers, and Soul Shards and displays raw gain, wasted amount, and net gain. Casts This tab displays number of casts, time spent casting, et cetera. It's especially useful to assist in correcting an opening sequence or observing a particular set of casts (such as a Hand of Gul'dan 2-stacking mishap). Summons Shows all pet, minion, guardian, and demon summons throughout a fight. Replay This feature can show the positioning of players throughout a given fight provided the logging player is using "advanced combat logging," an option found in-game. ... 3-1: The Basics Before you evaluate each given spec, it's helpful to know what kind of things you're going to be looking for. -DoT/Debuff Uptimes: You are going to be looking through the Damage Done section of a Warlock's spellcasts, looking for Damage over Time or other debuffs effects such as Immolate, Corruption, Haunt or Doom. Different DoTs or Debuffs will call for different uptimes. An example: [ http://puu.sh/dxGe8/43d53f1d91.png ] -Cast Ratios: You may also be looking for ratios of one spells' casts to another. This can be done very easily by looking at the casts column and checking numbers. An example: [ http://puu.sh/dxGkX/81bd70a89b.png ] -Buff Usage: All specs have some degree of resource pooling for certain procs or cooldowns. You will be comparing the amount of certain buffs cast, such as Dark Soul or on-use trinkets, the times that randomly proccing trinkets activate, and more to determine how effectively someone is using their spells. An example: [ http://puu.sh/dxGsY/f960820817.png ] 3-2: Destruction Destruction Warlock rotation errors are, in my mind, the easiest to correct. When evaluating a Destruction warlock log, make sure that the following things occur: A 90% or higher uptime on Immolate. Usage of Dark Soul: Instability once every two minutes (without Glyph of Dark Soul) and, if using AD, a bonus charge used during other procs (or during the execute). Chaos Bolts being cast during CDs or Procs en masse, but only used one at a time otherwise. Burning Embers never reaching 4 and wasting generated embers, in the resources tab. On multiple target fights, a high uptime on all targets of Immolate (using the "Done to Enemy" selection found just above the graph). On cleave or AoE fights, high Havoc usage. On cleave or AoE fights, high Shadowburn counts and a high ratio of Shadowburn Hits to Shadowburn Casts (which would mean that Shadowburn is well-cleaved by havoc). Note: if I am missing any factors, please post additions or corrections below. 3-3: Affliction Affliction Warlocks have a relatively simple rotation, especially in Single Target, but you should still look for the following things in a log: An extremely high (as near to 99% as possible) uptime on your main three DoTs (Corruption, Agony, Unstable Affliction). Usage of Dark Soul: Misery once every two minutes (without Glyph of Dark Soul) and, if using AD, a bonus charge used during other procs (or during the execute). On single target fights, a high uptime (around 60-70%) of Drain Soul. On multiple target fights, it can be considerably lower. Without Soulburn: Haunt, a fairly high Haunt uptime (50% or above) but even more importantly, haunts used during procs rather than needlessly wasted. With Soulburn: Haunt, a high uptime on the Soulburn: Haunt buff (90% or above). Soul Shards never being wasted (at the moment, this means sitting at two and casting the remaining two only during cooldowns or procs). On multiple target fights, check to make sure that the three DoTs have a substantial uptime on each of the targets (using the "Done to Enemy" selection found just above the graph). Note: if I am missing any factors, please post additions or corrections below. 3-4: Demonology Demonology Warlocks factor 'when' a spell is cast quite often compared to the other specs, rather than 'how much'. Due to this, it is one of the harder specs to correct with logs, but there still is a great deal of factors to watch for when evaluating Demonology performance, such as: A high (95% or above) uptime on Corruption and Doom. Dark Soul: Knowledge once every two minutes, and if using AD, a bonus charge used with other procs or during the opener. A high usage of Soul Fire with Molten Core procs in Meta. A roughly 40% uptime on Hand of Gul'dan. (This is raised to 55% in Single Target situations with the 4-PC from T17) Pooling and dumping of Demonic Fury with SF and ToC, with Procs and AD (but never capping at 1,000 fury). On multiple target fights, a high uptime of Doom and Corruption on all targets (using the "Done to Enemy" selection found just above the graph). If using Grimoire of Service, the Doomguard should be cast every two minutes, usually with CDs. If using Cataclysm, there should be a cast of Cataclysm every one minute. If the Glyph of Dark Soul is being used, DS and Cataclysm should be cast at the same time. Note: if I am missing any factors, please post additions or corrections below. ... 4-1: Afterword I am not the best Warlock, and I accept this--however, I am passionate about this class, and intend to go forward in WoD with stronger progression and theorycrafting than before. 20m Demonology vs Destruction So After finishing the raid last night, staying Destro I pulled about the same DPS as I did the previous week. I wasn't expecting much but i assumed it would go up just a little. On the other hand, the Demo warlock in the guild pulled significantly more DPS as he was the previous week. This made it look like this patch was favoring Demo. So I decided to make the switch and see if I could pull more DPS than my Destro spec. Nope. On a target dummy, I was pulling about 200k DPS (leveled out) as Destro, while in Demo I was pulling about 160K DPS. Is this because there is such a huge gap in my artifact level / ilevel? My destro weapon has 873 ilevel, while my demo weapon only has 778 (due to lack of relics). My demo weapon is also level 20, while my demo weapon is level 14. Is it really that big of a difference from one weapon to the other if you don't have both weapons maxed out? Does this mean I can't switch specs to maximize my DPS? Without first farming a copious amount of AP and relics? What did everyone else think of the buffs from raid last night? Anyone going to be making any switches?Thöraxe1 20m
22m Need help from fellow locks So I'm leveling this alt in my off time from my main and I love this guy he was shelved for awhile but still a favorite char of mine. My question is this I'm having serious trouble deciding what spec to play. I plan on doing basic stuff maybe raid occasionally if possible but what I'm really looking for is a fun lock spec to play. 23m Which spec to dump AP in after buff? I'm sitting on a considerable amount of AP ready to be spent. I'm just not sure which spec to drop it in. I'm at 16 traits for Demo (my usual, cleared EN with this and did pretty well), 15 for Demo (just got Expendables and I'm pretty crappy at this spec) and 13 for Affliction (one rank in Hideous Corruption - am decent with this.) With the recent damage boosts, what do the Warlock Elite suggest I invest in? I could easily dump everything in Demo but kinda flirting with Affliction (but I think it's still bad now.) 38m WoW is not Hearthstone I don't know if Blizzard devs know this. All the important elements of our class is screwed up in RNG right now, and Hearthstone locks are like 90% RNG... Can't help but notice that. WoW is a game people have taken very seriously since it's inception. You don't go tack on a bunch of RNG to our DPS. Ever wonder Ret Paladins where garbage in Vanilla and TBC? RNG, Seal of the Casino was so crucial to their DPS but it was utterly random, making them a garbage DPS spec. Looking at Warlocks: Affliction should not have RNG shard generation as one of their major damage sources (UA) requires shards to function! You just turned them into Vanilla Ret Paladins... Destruction should not have a RNG passive mastery, their damage is already spiky and random enough with crits. They need some consistency to balance out the randomness. Ironically Demonology has a different problem, its completely not random, hence why it is doing so well in DPS. Unfortunately, the spec has one of the most stale and boring rotations in the game that gets absolutely wrecked if you have to move a inch. No flexibility, no choice, no fun as a result. Just understand, WoW and Hearthstone are for two different audiences of players: WoW is about semi-serious players who care about their performance and enjoyment with their class of choice; some people have spent literal years with one class, that takes some serious devotion. Hearthstone is very different, attuned to a more casual audience that will swap classes at the drop of a hat. The game is so random that attempting to take seriously will cause you to scream in frustration as you get screwed over by the sheer amount of RNG. Hearthstone is not a game you should ever take seriously. Please Blizzard, Realize this.Duemalt2 38m
52m Idea for new warlock ability So my idea on this is for a change to the mastery. Currently if a warlock gets spell locked for a school we are !@#$ed. Get spell locked while casting chaos bolt? Hope you like standing there. Warlocks are the Masters of chaos. Why not change our mastery to do two things: 1) whenever we get spell school locked we have a mastery% chance to simply ignore it And 2) make it so our mastery does mastery/2 to mastery% damage of a random type. 1h Life Tap Sucks What else can you say about it? If you aren't managing your mana you'll go OOM in the middle of your rotation and instantly shave 10k off of what your dps was. The play style feels absolutely terrible. Maybe if it wasn't on the gcd with our other spells it would be alright, but hitting an empty mana wall 10 times a fight really sucks.Nebekinezzar1 1h

I have two sets of gear, 843ilvl Haste Crit set. 10500 haste (30%) and 6400 Crit. Mastery 40% This was my Destro set. 845ilvl Mastery Haste set, 11280 Mastery (120%) and 6347 (Haste 20%). This was my Aff set. I was in a raid and there was mage doing really bad dps for 845 ilvl (115k). My friend asked why is he so bad, I told him because he stacks ilvl and has the wrong stats and i will show you what using the wrong stats for me would be like. I was figuring im doing 170k with my Destro set on dummy so i said ill prob do 150k with my Aff set on. When i went to the dummy i was doing 187K average after 4 pulls. Since I was thinking oh this is rng or something after i seen it was a dps increase the first pull. So i was looking at why is this working and i saw 40% extra spell dmg chance vs 120%. Thats triple mastery dmg chance on spells vs a 10% haste loss. And i think it makes up for losing alittle crit rating. So i was like my casting feels so slow now so I was skeptical on actually using that set. But then i thought lets ditch Roaring Blaze and roll Backdraft. When i did that i was sustaining 210K over 5 min tests on dummys avg. Which is 40k more than what i was able to do with my Haste Crit set. And since im using backdraft its easier on the rotation and your casts is inline if not faster than stacking Haste. 1h Agony not working correctly in raid finder? Hi I just recently ran the raid finder, i was going affliction to start since I like its playstyle. Problem is I have noticed when i apply Agony the ticks don't cause the agonys damage to stack to higher numbers. To put it bluntly, i apply Agony and the damage ticks remained at 2.2k and the counter for Agony never went up past1. I had to manually keep applying Agony to get the counter to reach 20. I Also noticed that i was not able to gain shards at all during this issue.Mysticvoid0 1h

1h A long rational post about Affliction Dear Blizzard, I have come to the Warlock Class forums to attempt to understand why it is such a struggle to play my class, more specifically, the Affliction specification. In our raid group we have two demonology warlocks who are performing well in 5 mans and did quite well in Emerald Nightmare last night. Generally, as affliction, I was at least 80K dps behind them in most encounters. I was asked the question from our officers ‘why did you choose a bad spec’ which got me thinking. The only thing I can say is ‘It’s not bad, it just isn’t performing well at the moment’ I have to believe that the developers are aware of the problems and want to fix them because right now, affliction is not fun to play and the other two specs, at least for me, also are not. So, rather than simply post ‘Buff Please’ I thought it would be a good idea to make some points and a couple of suggestions from my perspective that I think may improve things. There are people who know far more than I about the spec but I have been playing the same class since BC so I think I have a certain level of experience to be able to make these comments. Which are: 1. AOE – Right now, our AOE is bound to seed of corruption. There are some problems with seed though. Firstly, the cast time is very long meaning you can’t build a number of seeds across multiple mobs to do effective damage. Second, the seeds require too much damage to pop and have too long an expiry period for them to pop on their own. There is naturally the sow the seed talent which allows for a larger application of seeds at once but choosing that talent will lower overall DPS dramatically since the extra dot from Siphon Life is crucial in viable Affliction specs. The way AOE is at the moment, I feel like I am being carried through trash and cleave fights. I want to pull my weight. Suggestion: Firstly, allow Seed to explode from any damage, not just personal damage. Second, move sow the seeds to another tier. It is quite disheartening to see our most viable single target dps and our best aoe talents on the same tier. It means that to be optimal in raids, we need to change talents between each fight. This seems like something that wouldn’t be intended design on your part as it goes against what I know of Blizzard when it comes to FUN FIRST. 2. Soul Effigy – I know some people hate this talent and I will agree it has some serious issues but it is not without potential. Soul Effigy is a great idea as it gives us more dots to manage and is fun to work out how to place it effectively in a raid. However, it has some major problems as well. Firstly, it makes the opening dot application in a fight long and convoluted. Second, it is extremely difficult to manually or tab target in a fight. Third, the range is quite limiting and Fourth, it can be quite buggy. Suggestions – First, to make soul effigy more viable in movement fights, make it so that when it is first cast, it copies any dots that are already on the target. That way, we can dot up the boss, soul effigy then start managing all the dots. This will also make it viable when we need to move to another location or switch to a new target. Second is targeting. At the moment it the name plate disappears when you are not targeting it. This can be fixed by simply making the name plate an enemy plate so it doesn’t disappear. Those of us that want to min-max will still set it as focus and use focus macros etc but simply changing it to an enemy plate will go a long way. Third is range. This is more of a wishlist item but even increasing the range by 10 yards would help. The buggy nature of it, I’m sure you will fix in due course, but in the immediate future can you please at least fix it in Ilgynoth. It straight up doesn’t work at all. It says it is obscured most of the time. 3. Artifact Talents – this one is open for debate but for me, many of the talents are rather uninspiring and two of our gold talents have limited use in raids. In other specs and classes, these gold talents are something to aspire to because they give you a noticeable boost in performance but that isn’t the case for Affliction. Both Wrath of Consumption and Soul Flame rely on killing a target before activating. Unless a fight has many adds, Wrath has very little value. Soul Flame may be great for AOE but it feels like a better solution to simply increase AOE effectiveness and replace Soul Flame with something more interesting. I have to believe that it is not the intent that we need soul flame to do effective AOE. Other classes can do high cleave damage with a single ability, I don’t see why we need to have a gold artifact talent to compete. 4. Spell damage – this is the ‘buff please’ portion of our presentation. It feels like Affliction dots are not quite as potent as they should be. I know with my own gameplay that there is room for improvement, I get flustered at times and a dot might drop off and sometimes I reapply too early but that doesn’t account for the large disparity between warlock specs (affliction 18% behind demo) and even larger disparity between other classes. We don’t have another non-damage spec to choose. If a Warlock cannot be relied on for consistently competitive damage, we lose our raid spot. Suggestions: I’m not convinced the solution is to just ramp the numbers up. That would create bigger problems with gear scaling down the track. Agony is our highest damage dot so it makes sense to give that a 5-10% boost but also, assuming soul effigy is fixed, increasing the amount of damage transferred over would also be good. Perhaps instead of 35% it should be 40% and see what effect that has in PTR testing. I personally think that it might need to be higher than that but at the risk of swinging the pendulum too far, an incremental push would be better. These are the main points. There are other niggling issues but I think that the main larger ones are covered here. I know this has been a long post and if you have made it this far, thank you for your time reading it. This post comes from a place of deep frustration which I’m sure many in the Warlock community are feeling at the moment. I don’t need to be at the top of the DPS meters, I just want to contribute to my raid group and I want to do it in the spec I enjoy playing. Finally, please give the community feedback or some indication of what you are thinking when it comes to our class. The Soul Shard increase, while great for faster openings and burst, doesn’t even begin to address the wider issues. You have many people who love your game playing something that is not fun. Please let us know what you intend to do or what you are considering, not just for Affliction but for the other specs as well. To the community, if you do not agree with my suggestions, that is fine as I'm sure many of you are more knowledgable than me and have better ideas. However, rather than be negative about the post or suggestions, let's try to be constructive. Suggest something else, let's discuss how to make our class better and do so in a constructive way. Perhaps the developers will find the discussion useful when looking at how to fix things. It is easy to be angry but let's at least try and talk with a level head. Thanks again. Lac.Lacrimamorti31 1h

2h Legion Aff Playstyle, Love it or Hate it? While I think number tuning is important, it is also important for us to communicate with Blizzard as much as we can on how we feel about the playstyle of our class/specs. A complete overhaul of a spec is probably not going to happen during an expansion, but other things can - abilities, talents, and... possibly... artifacts (I say this with the mindset that we should get a non-punishing AP reset if it comes to this). Anyways, I'm curious as to how people feel about the playstyle of Affliction. This isn't about numbers, this is purely about mechanics. 2h Mythic+ shunned No one will take a warlock to mythic+ or even basic mythics. I continue to get declined for all mythics unless the group has auto-invite turned on. I don't even have bad DPS. 2h Maybe it's just me........... But I have noticed a marked decrease in my shard regeneration lately. And I am not talking about since today's hotfixes. For the last week or so, I have noticed that I am getting fewer shards to regenerate as compared to before. I just want to know if I am just having terrible luck, or if others have noticed this as well. I waited this long to say something just to make sure it wasn't imagining it. Also, has anyone noticed that shard regeneration out in the world is actually better than it is in raids/PvP? Like there is some odd hidden nerf to regeneration once you get into instances. 3h Xavius Haxx Protip: If you get sleepified, use your Imp to dispel the tank and get more Corruption so you can go mad and get buffed 150%. Just make sure you have your cds up when you do get buffed and blow everything before exiting the dream 'cause it'll all come back up when you leave. If you feel like living on the edge you can do it again outside the dream at the end of the fight and try to time it so the boss dies before you get mind controlled. The buff lasts 20s.Tulzsçha1 3h
3h What I personally want out of Aff PvP. I want 3 or 4 DoTs to place and maintain on each target. I do not want UA to be the current stack-monster that it is. We don't rot anymore. And we barely even care about anything outside of Agony - and not EVEN for its damage, despite being our highest damage DoT. We just want our UA Shards. I want to put 1 UA on a given person, and that's that. I want UA to serve as my dispel protector. Maybe make us only able to UA 1 target at a time. Make it a 1.8 cast or something, that's fine. But make it reflectively important, and not such a throwaway that you have to stack 8-10 times on one single enemy. We want to rot teams! I want more incentive to Corruption someone. Or even Siphon Life. Although right now, both statements are because Aff PvP is basically 100% about the UA stack, but it doesn't have to be that way (which will be addressed in my next point). But if you look at Corruption, it's actually just... Why? It's our weakest DoT. It has no secondary effect. And at this point, if you just grabbed one of the special effects on our other DoTs and slapped it on Corruption, you'd look extremely lazy. (Such as moving the Shard gen from Agony to Corr, since Agony already serves as our "highest damage DoT" role.) I want one set of DoTs to be threatening to my target. I'd like for one round of UA (my ideal reworked UA, where it's not mass-stacked) + Corr + Agony + Siphon to do no less than 40% of someone's maximum hp over the course of roughly 18 seconds. Now I can do what I've always been intended to do, and start controlling the fight while my damage is working its course over time. That being said, I'd like more utility. Let's start with my most missed spell, Curse of Exhaustion. Why don't we have this? Who decided a 30% slow was too good for us to have? Everyone else seems to be throwing around anywhere from 50% to 90% slows. And we can't have a 30%? I remember when we had Kil'jaeden's Cunning. It let us cast while moving, but slowed us by 30%. It was removed because it was deemed too powerful, and the slow wasn't enough of a punishment. So which is it? 30% isn't strong enough when it's against us Warlocks, but way too strong when Warlocks use it on other people? I do like that we have Weakness and Tongues back. But my only problem with it is that we have to select which one we bring into the game, and cannot use the other. What we could do is have both, as well as Exhaustion, and we can only have one of them active at any given time. So for example, we can put Weakness on a Warrior so he doesn't just Swifty us in the mouth. Then when we feel stabilized, put a Tongues on the healer, but this removes the Weakness. When someone's trying to run away, we have the option of slowing them a tiny bit with Exhaustion, but now their healer can cast things fast again. Does this not provide us with our "PvP class fantasy" of having lots of utility, while remaining balanced and skill-intensive? - - - - - - - - - - That's really about it. In basic summary, I want to rot & control again. I don't want to stack UA's on a single guy forever. And I don't want to SB Haunt + Malefic a single guy forever. 3h I'm depressed. I've mained this character for 11 years. I've pushed through the low points because I was always at least competitive, and the specs were relatively fun. I love the expansion as a whole. The lore is awesome, the questlines are fun and rewarding, there's always something to do... But something awful has happened. Wow is a SOCIAL game, and my class has relegated me to an an antisocial existence. I can spend hours in LFG getting declined over, and over, and over again. I can finish my "solo" experience of world quests, crave some interaction with other people... But I can't experience it. The multiplayer aspect of the game has been fatally handicapped by a near total and complete lack of acceptance into groups. I'm not denied group experiences because I'm bad at my class, or because I'm a toxic player who ruins the fun of others around me. I'm denied group play because my class cannot compete in any measurable metric that matters to the other four members. The 10% buff, while nice, has not fixed my damage, and moreover, has not fixed the public perception of what my class can do. For the first time in 11 years, I'm considering hanging up the toon and maining one of my alts. Not because I enjoy that playstyle, but because I enjoy people, and I don't get to work with them anymore. Please, Blizz, make this class a priority.Devorick21 3h

You can't apply 'distinct strengths and weaknesses' to some classes while leaving others god tier and versatile. Why not just give us what we what: make all classes diverse but keep enough versatility that we all have a chance at topping any fight. 4h Warlocks still underperforming Not sure if anyone else is feeling the same way but legion it's self is a huge step backwards for warlocks as a class where as other classes all took a step forwards. Buffs were not even close to enough tonight. It feels like all of the flavor has been lost from the class especially affliction. Our dots still feel incredibly weak. Explain why was warlock nerfed again in pre patch when so much tweaking is still needed? Why couldn't you wait blizzard until some proper warcraft logs and data were released. I mean your excuse of wanting to get more data was good enough for us how come more data wasn't needed before they were nerfed instead of listening to every kid complain about how we were performing in bg's. 4h Lock needs a major overhaul. I tried. I tried to log in and even just do some world quests and send followers on missions. I got the missions done, but going out into the world to actually do any fighting just made me sick to my stomach. Damage increase? 4h Destruction is solid, Demo will be Arcane 2.0 Just relax. Let the gear start rolling out, figure out the mechanics to fights, and learn how to optimize before you abandon all hope. Our numbers are looking much better tonight. The statistics tab in Warcraft Logs doesn't mean a damn thing, so please stop clinging to it. We can sustain 400-500k+ in Mythic+ packs of 3-4+, and an easy 300-400k on 2 targets. ST is a little less, but we can still maintain 250k or so. And in EN, so many of the fights are great for us. Basically everything except Ursoc and Neth are great for Destro, and those two are great for Demo. Practice. Gear up properly. Nail your rotations. Get your talents right. Ask for help. And if you're going to look at logs to see who's doing what, look at them properly - don't just look at the rankings and be like "SEE, SEE, WARLOCKS ARE DONE!!!". That isn't what they're for and the number at the end doesn't tell anywhere near the whole story. And Demo will be very similar to WoD's Arcane Mage - just wait, again, till the gear rolls out and it becomes more acceptable/suitable to tunnel bosses again. 5h Stepping away from my Warlock as my "Main" When I first started playing this game during Wotlk, I went through all of the character choices and tried to decide which one seemed the most fun to me. I seemed to identify the most with the Warlock class and through out the leveling process, you couldn't have told me that I would ever have felt differently or regretted my decision. I enjoyed leveling my Warlock so much, that I actually stopped leveling completely for about 2 weeks just to do battlegrounds like Alterac Valley. Going through and earning each of my demons and mounts through quests added an extra flavor of special to the class. You were not just simply given mounts and demons for hitting a certain level. I got invested in the class and it is something that a lot of the older Warlock players carry with them to this day. Through the rough patches (and there have been some bad ones), these ties and commitments keep them from walking away to a more viable class. The game has changed. I'm not one of those players who will sit around and complain about all of the changes and claim everything was better before X, Y, and Z, because the truth is it wasn't. The game has changed in some ways for the better, and for some ways for the worse. For the most part though, I think most of the changes were made for the betterment of the game. The game needed to evolve, it needed to get faster, more accessible, and more friendly to the casuals while challenging the hard cores as well. With the game changes came more boss mechanics and more classes being homogenized. They wanted us to feel like any group was viable and we didn't need that perfect set-up in order to be competitive. This is where things begin to fall apart. The Warlock class was able to survive this meta (although barely in Cata) by having different options for certain situations. Destro was the burst go to class and an easy fit to fill most high priority and target switching situations, while affliction was great for dotting a couple of mobs and channeling the boss hard for high single target dps. (if mechanics allowed for this which they almost never do anymore) The entire Dot class style of play that Warlocks bring has always struggled to keep up with the ever growing mechanics of fights. It's an old style of game play that I personally feel just doesn't have much place in World of Warcraft right now. I think the developers feel the sting of this too and they have no idea how to progress this class any further. They keep trying but I feel they have lost touch with how to balance these type of classes for competitive game play. So here we are with some minor buffs coming in just a few hours to some how make us viable compared to other ranged classes. We are going to receive about a 6-10% damage boost depending on the spec you play (I personally play destro so i know the number is 8% with perfect Sim dps, but in reality that will be about a 5-7% damage boost) These aren't numbers that i'm just pulling out of my beehind here. This is simple math. This is what the math tells us our damage will be after buffs. I don't know know about you guys but 8% of bad is still bad. We will still be in the same place we were before the buffs. There is not going to be any reason for a serious progression guild to choose a Warlock over a Mage. We are a pure dps class. That is all we do is dps. We don't even have the most useful utility in the game bloodlust/heroism. We aren't even able to interrupt effectively. I know that hybrid tax is long gone as it should be, all classes should be viable. BUT, a pure dps class should never have all 3 specs sitting at the lower middle of the pack and be given an 8% damage boost when we are falling behind other classes by as much as 30 percent. I will be parking my Warlock and just keeping my artifact knowledge going until some real changes are made. So why after all this time? It's embarrassing It's embarrassing playing as a Warlock right now. We are the laughing stock of the community. I raided with the top guild on my server for three expansions on my Warlock, and right now I feel as if I'm being carried every time I run a Mythic.Kandorice10 5h
5h Demonology. while i don't talk about everyone, i actually seem to like the current Demonology, got a good system going on, but i will have to admit, while it "for me at least" seems to be a good spot right now, it still needs some tweaking and love, such as demons staying up longer, some artifact changes might be good, and Mastery should be a mix between the old mastery and the current demonic empowerment, which i think would be raising the baseline damage of all demons, and also increasing the haste and health bonus from Demonic Empowerment. and they could also make the Demonic Empowerment have a shorter cast time based on ether haste or mastery, or make a talent of having a weaker powered Demonic Empowerment, but it's a passive. another good thing would be if you choose Hand of Doom, it only applies Doom on targets without Doom, instead of Refreshing it making the talent kinda useless "in my opinion!" what's more i think we all would like more love in the Demon department, Cosmetic wise that is!, we should be able to "Hire" a new demon ~to get a different name and a different color" and we could also get our old Improved demons/Grimoire of Supremacy , but instead make it more logical, such as the Wrathguard having two attacks "on account of having two weapons" and the Shivarra having the weakest base damage, but has four autoattacks, "and possibly have Chaos Damage" and the special would be a short cooldown Whirlwind. the others could be having the Fel imp having a stronger fireball with a shortrange aoe on impact, the Voidlord could have improved armor and health, with a threat generating cleave attack, and finally having the Observer "a Great replacement to the old Observer could be using the Voidcaller, the Voidwalker wearing a cloth/leather looking robe with the two lanterns and the rune just above it, this would a better upgrade for the Felpuppy, instead of us having a demon that looks like it can't take a hit, and has a pulsating !@#$" ether the same as it's old version, or it could have an additional Leech to it's attacks. 6h Great job blizzard I think the warlock class is in an interesting spot. There is a lot of potential for the lock this expansion. I don't know about the rest of you, but i feel pretty cool summoning hordes of demons to destroy my enemies. I think it would be really awesome if my warlock could summon and keep a horde of demons at my side. I don't mind demonic empowerment because i think of it as a damage spell even though it doesnt do direct damage. i cast the spell and damage implicitly happens and thats just how i view it. The only thing i can say about this spec is its very intensive to play well and may require addons to play it to its full potential. its more chaos than destruction rotation wise. Destruction is pretty cool. I really like the havoc mechanic we have. I just havoc -> tab -> immolate->conflag dump. rinse and repeat. spam rain of fire inbetween and you see some pretty good numbers. I know there is a lot of controversy about the mastery but i honestly see it as crit too. But before i get downvoted to hell let me just say that chaos bolt always crits.. the mastery adds crit to the chaos bolt basically. I understand why people could be upset because their 'die' button has gone away. I think a decent solution to this could be something like removing the 3 casts to our artifact ability and just giving you 1 cast. make that one cast hit like a truck.. let me feel cool like the Mil+ crit fire mages too. now we have our mastery RNG and a big 'fu die' button too. I would also like to add i feel really sweet brining my group utility making lock rocks and summoning people. Nothing makes me feel more important than when i cast my summon macro or my lock rock macros. I think things like this make a lock feel unique and needed in groups and should be emphasize more to give us that role all locks are looking for noadays. Possibly make lock rocks on par with health pots, or give them separate CDs. maybe allow us to spec into demonic gateway instead of choosing burning rush, ect. 6h % haste breakpoint ? So im here at 40% haste as destro... is that tooo much ? Should i start padding more critt or just stacking massive haste will be better .... even at 40% i seem to do low dmg compared to other class in mythic +Jbar9 6h
7h Fixing Affliction? After receiving the "Buff" and increasing total dps by maybe 10k if I was lucky I began to think, why am I so weak compared to other classes? I have been 845il for some time now, seeing how It's rare to get invited to anything as a warlock, and normally do about 150k dps on lengthy fights where I have ample time to ramp up and sustain my damage, however a friend, MM hunter, constantly bursts for 350k dps and sustains at 260k dps, best part is he had 10 less ILs when he was doing this, now he has more than me... Anyway I began looking into the class, the artifact and the traits and a few things hit me. Haste is useless. Reap Souls is impossible to maintain and we are balanced around 100% up time on it. Our traits are designed around getting kill chains (real easy on ST fights...) The haste one I can fix myself, after reading up on Icy Veins that mastery is better than int I though I would give it a whirl, and sure enough roughly 40k dps from that alone, now haste is useless because it stacks so badly in Legion, 2k haste is lucky to be 1% and all that does is add maybe 400 dmg to our dot ticks, doesn't reduce time between ticks or even affect UA cast time much at all, 2k mastery on the other hand is like 2% mastery and that's 2% dmg to, well everything. Reap souls would be fine how it is if it procced the passive generation more often but I believe a better solution is to change the way it works and interacts with our "golden" traits, more on that later. Getting Kill chains on Single Target boss fights is a little hard and for some fights impossible, so I though why would they even give us such traits, then it hit me, back in the first inception of the artifacts, Ulthaesh's ability would drop souls, like now, but they would be killable. That ability would help keeping Wrath of Consumption stacks up, but psitioning may be a bit iffy with Soul Flame, and the mana regen thing kind of takes away from Life Tap, alot. So I thought, hmm wouldn't a better option be to change Reap Souls, rather then having a chance to drop a stack, maybe make it more like Havok's second tier talent that causes souls to pop off when using a certain ability. So for example when dealing damage with Drain Life / Drain Soul there is a small chance (keeping in with the whole RNG everything thing Blizz is going for) to "shear" a fragment of the targets soul off, that lands next to the target has like 20-30k hp and can only be seen and killed by the proccing warlock. So Reap Souls would read something like this: Reap Souls Consume all Tormented Souls collected by Ulthaesh, increasing your damage by 10% and doubling the effect of all Ulthaesh's traits for 5 seconds per soul consumed. Ulthaesh collects tormented souls from each target you kill. Drain Life (Drain Soul) has a chance to shear a soul fragment from the target which can be killed by you. I believe this solves alot of issues with the spec right now, you can maintain souls, albeit a little RNG, but more reliably, you get more effectiveness out of your traits and we actually are able to maintain the conditions we are balanced around alot more often. Oh and it stays within class / spec fantasy. And if we get pushed to the top sustained dmg slot, so? shouldn't the class with the longest ramp up and tonne of RNG be the highest sustained dmg class if everything goes our way? Any thoughts or reasons why this wouldn't work, because honestly I can't see anything wrong with this myself.Xerxeth1 7h
