I just realized I hadn't seen the 6th movie yet.

I think it's appropriate that on the day HP was released, we get one huge lightning storm. I wonder if the guys at the theater got drenched...
This is sort of in the realm of books to movies and leaving stuff out. Anyone read the Eragon series of books? If so did you also watch the Eragon movie? I was very disappointed in all the stuff they cut out just to make a short movie.

If you've never read the books imagine if they took the 4th book and made the movie an hour and a half. That was about the length of the Eragon book but the movie was an hour and a half. There was SOOOO much left out. I about cried and I am actually hoping the remake the thing.
Hi priests!
I have been lurking but I always forget my authenticator. So hey there!

I think I will wait until I can get a box set. Less people throwing popcorn at my neighbor's head and more me sitting on my sofa all cuddled with the s/o. Also, I don't have to sell my first born to get a tub of questionably sanitary popcorn. :D

I did read the entire series however. I believe that sometimes in writing the author has to write the story around an ending and not the other way around. I have found that in my own writing as well. If you pick through the series you will see that the ends were neatly tied, in the way she laid it out, we received the needed ending.
I am going to quote my mother, (who incidentally is a Rolling Stones fan) "Sometimes you can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes you get what you need."

These books were huge, to consolidate them you lose a lot of the story in my humble opinion. Breaking them up into more movies makes sense. It also helps make more money for those involved in the production :)

HP7 Part 1 was almost 100% true to the book.

I sure hope so, it's very disappointing when they cut so much out of all the other books.

I had to re-read a couple of them a few times just because the movie threw me off a little.

I'm actually really glad if this is true. I really thought that the last movie was true to the book...but they cut out a lot of the "meat and potatoes" imo. I'm hoping that now because the 7th movie is in two parts that they won't have to do that for the final installment, and actually have what the author (probably) envisioned when she wrote the book.
I I think they let a few key moments slip away without her stubbornly intelligent input.

you 2 have a lot in common! ♥

My dad tried to convince me that stubbornness was a negative trait yesterday. It didn't work.

edit:

I haven't seen all of the other movies, but I do know that my brain was doggedly sniffing out things that were futzed up in HP7.
I can't watch the movies anymore. Well, Goblet of Fire mostly. Cedric has been ruined forever.
I stopped watching after number 2 because the movies were so incredibly mediocre. Did the rest of the series get better or is it just not for me.
Ask any of the chickies in my pen, they'll tell you I'm the biggest mother hen. I love them all and all of them love me. Because the system works, the system called reciprocity. Got a little motto, always sees me through: when you're good to Mama, Mama's good to you. There's a lot of favors I'm prepared to do. You do one for Mama, she'll do one for you. They say that life is tit for tat, and that's the way I live. So I deserve a lot of tat for what I've got to give. Don't you know that this hand washes that one too. When you're good to Mama, Mama's good to you.
If you want my gravy, pepper my ragout. Spice it up for Mama, she'll get hot for you. When they pass that basket folks contribute too, you put in for Mama, she'll put out for you. The folks atop the ladder are the ones the world adores. So boost me up my ladder kid, and I'll boost you up yours. Lets all stroke together, like the Princeton crew. When you're strokin' Mama, Mama's strokin' you. So what's the one conclusion I can bring this number to? When you're good to Mama, Mama's good to you.
I'm too lazy to read all of this right now, and I also don't know about potential spoilers. :P

In other news, I got home today. Got to see the girlfriend for a few minutes before she had a show to do (she's in our high schools play). I've missed both home and her. :)
Harry Potter + Harvard fricken Yale = BEST WEEKEND EVER
Harry Potter meh. The books got boring after around 5 of them. Or 4. I don't remember. The first movie was good. Then blargh.

I don't know why I don't find them very captivating. Love the genre but something about the writing or screenplay or acting or something just doesn't click. Can't put my finger on it but not my cuppa tea.

Anyway, why are we getting our talents wiped for 4.0.3a? Is it just Disc/Holy getting new stuff?

The movies are kinda meh for me, but I don't really enjoy Daniel Radcliffe very much. I love the books, but I just can't get into Radcliffe's portrayal of Harry.

He was cute but kinda insipid. Nobody in the movie is really watchable. The girl is supposed to have crazy hair and they prettied her up so that was already a big sign of commercialism. I'll probably watch it later when the crowds thin down (since I get in free) but rather see The Warrior's Way (or whatever that's called).

Holy gets a talent that reduces the GCD of Renew by 0.5 sec. That's the only thing for holy.

Seems weird if that's the only thing new, that they're giving us a free respec. Oh well.

They changed the location of Tome of Light and made the Chakra functionality changes too. I think it will be this: http://cata.wowhead.com/talent#b

I don't even find him cute. :/ And yes, they made Emma/Hermione too cute, but I'll take the hit. :P

I lol'd IRL.
