This thread is meant to provide links to resources on lore and RP addons for World of Warcraft: Cataclysm (and soon to be Mists of Pandaria!). As there are plenty of threads asking for resources, it seems like a wise idea to have a post that will hopefully be stickied that lists these resources for players new and old to RP servers.

This is the official Game Guide for World of Warcraft and contains a lot of information on the races, classes and factions of World of Warcraft.

The Expanded Universe section is filled with short stories with regards to the lore of the game, including a history of the world we play in.

Lore Resources

Wowpedia

I consider this one of the best places to go for any lore questions I might have. All speculative information here is unofficial and is subject to change at the whims of Metzen.

RP Addons

Courtesy of Iriako, from page 2!

TotalRP 2
http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/totalrp2
An all-inclusive mod that allows extreme character descriptions, emotional states/buffs/debuffs, mount/companion names, personality indicators, chat coloring, NPC chatting, item creation, quest creation, sound effects, IC/OOC indicators, RP skill level, and language functions. Compatible with MyRolePlay's RP Flag functionality.

MyRolePlay
http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/my-role-play
MyRolePlay is an alternative to TotalRP (and other similar addons), listed here to give you the freedom of choice over what RP addon you use. Like the rest it lets you find other roleplayers and set up character information such as names, history and appearance.

MogIt
http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/mogit
A handy mod for trying out any transmoggable gear item on your character, with the ability to save a wishlist and find out where you can obtain that model.

AddEmote
http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/addemote
A mod that allows you to creat custom slash commands and the resulting emote output string for all your toons, and also for your pets and minions.

Due to the sheer size of the post, and the absense of foresight, this post continues over here!

Let's not forget http://www.wowpedia.org.
No prob dude. :)
Most of the links that go back to the old World of Warcraft (WoW) website do not work — or work as well as they used to. They only go to general subsections of the new website and nothing else. This also applies to things linked to the old WoW forums; the links just direct you to the new forums, and nothing else.

Perhaps links to the respective articles on the new website can replace the old ones, and the original poster of that RP add-on guide — if aforementioned person is still around, and has an extra copy of the post — can supply us with another post on the new forums.

I think links to the old forums and website may've worked when this thread was first posted and stickied, but — I believe — that was during a transitional period where both new and old functioned properly, or existed at all in the old's case.
Learning lore is easy, really easy. Doing quests instead of dungeons...
The quests are a really fun way to learn lore, you live it.

Most of my knowledge on the lore comes from Wowpedia (WoWWiki at the time), honestly.

I still look up things that interest me and enough people ask me this or that regarding lore that I seem to refresh my memory on certain topics a lot.

Actually, it is same for me too... But quests are still really teaching. Living there, feeling the ambience and others is unprizeable.
For lore, if you want everything to the tiniest detail, I'd suggest asking your question on the story forums.
Don`t forget GHI under the addons section! Please note, GHI is an awesome addon, that allows you to create your own items, that won`t effect the game in anyway... Only your screen. (You can turn off mass sound spam by pressing the '?' in your bag.)
For ideas, help and information, please vist the GHI site listed below!

I found a few guides for specific races, and one for the usage of herbs. If they're already in the OP, apologies, as I did not notice.
