they are the best priced ones i found even after looking through newegg, and tigerdirect.

thank you :)
bump
They both have decent hardware except for the same silly Radeon 5450, that's not much of a gaming card and won't give you a very pleasant gaming experience.
lucky if only i could afford one of those haha, as of right now i am stuck between those 2 choices, which one do you think is better in your opinion, only differences are the i3 550 processor (3.2 GHZ) vs the AMD Athlon II x4 ( 3.0 GHZ) but idk which is better.
They're pretty much equivalent except that a Core i3 550 will squeeze out a bit more performance. The video card department on both systems are on the lacking side so if you're using a decent-sized monitor, you may want to consider replacing it.

i am upgrading the video card to a 1GB dedicated one once you guys help me decide which one has the better processor, ect.

Thank you thats exactly what i wanted to know, always thought a quadcore processor would be better, but guess i was wrong haha :)
For a game like World of Warcraft where you generally have ~2 main cores being used, a faster dual core processor will outperform a quad. Not by much, mind you, maybe a few frames a second. If you played a game like Call of Duty: Black Ops, the quad core AMD system will be faster by a significant amount.

So which processor do you think will serve me the most amount of time without having to upgrade? I keep reading that quad-core is becoming more popular among aps ect, i am sorry for so many questions i am not too computer savvy
I feel terrible for coming into this thread thinking you were talking about buying a desktop for a feline friend. >.>

Aaanyways, now that that's out of the way, both of those systems are decent-ish. The first one you linked (with the AMD Athlon II X4 processor) would be quite a bit better since it's got more cores, but as Datth pointed out, you'd want a better graphics card.

i am upgrading the video card to a 1GB dedicated one once you guys help me decide which one has the better processor, ect.

Bam, there we go. That's good. What card are you looking at specifically, by chance? There are low-end and high-end cards alike with 1 GB of video memory.

i mean i love my cat but he loves playing wow with me using the same keyboard, he loves walking on it during BGs, but as for the video card i was thinking something along the lines of http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150462&cm_re=ATI_Radeon_5770-_-14-150-462-_-Product :)

The Radeon 5770's always a good card. Not a bad choice. You should be getting some pretty nice performance out of that system.

You and your cat will definitely enjoy WoW with that system! :)
any thoughts on this pc btw?

That's also a solid system. You'd get an L3 cache, and Phenom II processors tend to outperform Athlon II processors. It's also a cheaper price. Not a bad buy. Just note that you'd still need to upgrade the graphics card to that 5770.
i3 is better for WoW than AMDx4. As Dath mentioned, a faster dual core will outperform a quad, and the i3 is much faster at single threads than an AMD AthlonII for the same clock speed. Your choices show the i3 also has a clock speed advantage, so it's clearly in the lead.

Check some of the benchmark comparison sites like:
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/122?vs=143

That's a 100 Mhz slower Athlonx4 vs a 140 MHz slower i3 (640 and 550 weren't in the listings, results should be comparable)

Single threaded performance is so much higher on the i3 that the x4 is only 15-30% faster in the applications that can take advantage of more than 2 cores. Those that can't (which is most stuff people actually use... and WoW) show a huge advantage for the i3.

If deciding between an i3 dual and an x4 I'd choose the i3. In fact, I did choose the i3...

So you are saying if you had to choose between

and the

you would choose the walmart one? and it would be better than the one with a Phenom II processor?
Remember, neither of the 2 computers who chose in the main post come with a monitor.
