Mazthoril

Story Forum
So, in my exploration of the PTR I was in Winterspring and I decided to check out that cave that the Blue Dragons used to be holed up in.

Inside there are "Arcane Tesseracts" all over the damn place and, apparently summoned by the Tesseracts, there are "Mana Compelled Shades", "Displaced Warp Stalkers", a "Xorothian Eredar", "K'areshi Traders" (Ethereals), "Mana Thirsters", "Xorothian Satyrs", "Dimensional Oozes", "Lost Ravagers", "Xorothian Imps", a "Arcane Mana-Cluster", and at the back of the cave, "Umbranse the Spiritspeaker".

Now, after looking at Wowhead, it seems there are quests to kill him, but are apparently not implemented. No listed quest givers, or any comments/images. Umbranse was present in Vanilla it seems as a spirit somewhere, from what I gather from comments.

Umbranse lurks in the back of Mazthoril. His time has come.

Unfortunately, I am unable to join you on this quest. While I'd love to get my hands on that snake, Mazthoril's magic would rip me apart in its current state. No, I need you to finish this for me.

When the deed is done, use this charm. It will return you safely to the egress.
Is the quest text on the quest to kill him, you are given a charm to return to Haleh, a Blue Dragoness, who had a role in Vanilla, but as far as I can find no explanation is given for the cave.

So, mad mage opens portals for demons, ethereals, various Twisting Nether creatures, and a Eredar/Imp/Satyr from the Realm of "Xoroth", home to Hel'nurath, as mentioned in the Warlock epic mount quest. Could it be that locations where the Blue Dragons spent alot of time are 'weaker' and easier for demons and being from the Twisting Nether to cross? The flavor text of one of the rewards from the new quest to kill him is "We never learned his true purpose." He also has one of the new "!" next to his portrait indicating a quest NPC, I think that is what it indicates.

Edit: Just killed him, adding his /yells

"All those dragon essences I've collected... the power... is exhilerating!"
"You can't take this away from me! Not now, not ever!"

Edit 2!: Around the cave there are "Altered Beasts" that look like foxes/rabbits. When attacked they turn into, so far, a raptor, gorilla, lion, and one of those blood fiend beast things. >.>

Edit 3!: Found Haleh, she is in a camp of High Elves, I am guessing Dragons, and an Explorer's League member. No quests.

Edit 4!: Found a "Shade of the Spiritspeaker" that I assume is related. He was hurling arcane balls down a slope...

Edit 5!: The camp with Haleh in it is called "Beryl Egress" weren't there "Beryl" mages in Borean Tundra?

As a side not... Something I never thought of before, but Xorothian Satyrs? Unless they Satyrs jumped from Azeroth to Xoronthian, or unless there are other types of races that were turned into Satyrs before Night Elves..... That seems off.

Probably Wota satyrs that planet hopped.
We do know from WotA that Satyrs existed in some capacity before Sargeras made them from Night Elves. There were legends among the night elves about them, and Sargeras knew to make them in a specific manner to match this legend.

It could be the Satyr existed in some capacity on Azeroth or Xoroth prior to the invasion of the Legion. I suspect they existed on Azeroth and Sargeras learned of them, shaping his new minions to match the legends, rather than having known the legends prior to arriving on Azeroth.

something I used to think as well, but the option of him just shaping it out of the legends present in Xavius mind made me reconsider. Now however, Im going to have to go back to my original theory of there used to be Satyr on Azeroth.

That's kinda what I meant. Where would the legend come from for Xavius, Malfurion, Aszhara, and Varo'then to recognize it?
It could be that Sargeras had made Satyrs before. It could be that Satyrs existed in some way on Azeroth before. Perhaps Sargeras knew about them before encountering Azeroth, or he learned about them from Xavius's mind.
