Some of you may recall that there were times in the past when it was common for the Arenas to be flooded by geared raiders actively engaging in arena matches exclusively to acquire weapons for the sake of defeating PvE content

since when was this the case?

s2? nope. season of the storm herald (PVE).
s3? nope. season of warglaives (PVE).
4? maybe. i only say maybe because i'm not 100% certain that the PVE weapons just shat all over PVP ones in terms of DPS. sunwell was actually kinda hard and s4 PVP weapons might be better than black temple level gear.
5? nope. the PVP gear here was actually so atrocious PVE gear won hands down. it was actually beneficial to stack mostly PVE gear.
6? nope. gear starting now were equal, with difference being PVP weps having res on them.
7? definitely nope. content was so easy you would be a moron to run a PVP weapon instead of PVE here.
8? shadowmourne. even normal PVE > PVP weapons

so tell me specifically, when exactly did PVP weapons outweigh PVE ones?
apples
Should make pve not usable in arena and pvp gear not usable in pve problem solve give us our damn weapons
people need to stop this, "then don't allow pve weps into pvp!" You should know better by now. Their main focus (and has been stated) is pve. That's ok. Fine.

However, just because they think all the pve'rs are grinding pvp to get the 2200 wep is absurd. Most of them can't even get that high. It's different now BECAUSE you have ratings attached... and you didn't in BC. that's the difference.

Also, if this is a problem with RBGs... you need to remove 2200 weps from there. All you have to do is grind in RBGs because you can't really lose rating. In arena... you can actually go down... which is completely different.
Ultimately, what we really want is parity in the availability of top end PvP and PvE weaponry. We want to see top end PvP and PvE items filtering into the player community at roughly the same time.

That won't happen unless you actually fix 10 man heroic raids. They aren't feasible at all right now.

I don't agree with his post but in the first couple seasons of BC the raid landscape was much more similar to today's than it was to Wrath's. Not everyone was in a raiding guild. Lots of guilds were just casual and did heroics and maybe karazhan at most. Lots of people were in scrubby blues and greens. Arena weapons did not require rating, they did not even require you to win a single arena game to get points to buy them, so lots of PVE-ers trying to gear up to get in to a raiding guild were playing arena just to get the purple weapons/gear and filling the forums with their tears. I wore almost full pvp gear the first time I stepped into Karazhan.

Now that said, it isn't the same this time around. The 2200 weapons require rating. PVE-ers are not going to get them anyway. If they do, they deserve them.

Some of you may recall that there were times in the past when it was common for the Arenas to be flooded by geared raiders actively engaging in arena matches exclusively to acquire weapons for the sake of defeating PvE content. That's not the intended design for arena rewards (that they be part of PvE progression), and that was a situation that we were hoping to avoid now. Raid content is very challenging currently, and as a direct result, there are fewer top tier weapons floating around. What we didn't want was a 'gold rush' on arenas, which would diffuse the competitive space there as well as give PvE focused players an undue advantage for raid content.

Ultimately, what we really want is parity in the availability of top end PvP and PvE weaponry. We want to see top end PvP and PvE items filtering into the player community at roughly the same time. This delay is an effort to achieve that aforementioned parity in this case.

I fail to see how more participation in PvP would be a bad thing.

You will get a negative reaction with your decision to delay 2200 arena weapons.
You will get a negative overreaction with your decision not to communicate with us about it.
But then again, you probably already knew that.

Sometimes, you have to make an unpopular decision, and you take a lot of heat for it. I understand that you guys aren't happy, and I'm sorry about that.

With regard to the weapon delay, as with any change which affects your gameplay, we always prefer to provide advance notice whenever possible, but in some situations it isn't an option. Unfortunately, this was one of those cases.

In BC raiders didn't flood arenas to acquire weapons... they flooded arenas because pve gear was so good in pvp.

How is using a PVE weapon in an arena different than using a PVP weapon in a raid?

What a load.. how about making PvP epics the same level then? The only item that would be equal is the weapon. Make PvP epic gear ilvl 372, thanks.
Can I report a blue for trolling?
I don't like how you're implying that basically any pve'r can get 2200.
Most of the mouth breathers in Pve that can't get their precious 372 heroic swords wouldnt be able to break 1500 in arenas anyways. Stop basing my pvp gear on pve progression.
Your decisions are flat out devoid of logic. If you really wanted the t2 weapons to not influence pve content, then make a note on the tooltip that makes it impossible to equip the t2 weapon while zoned in a 10 or 25 man raid. You cant use things like potions or flasks or fish feasts while in arena. Now im sure that was achieved by writing some code in the game which disables their use while zoned in arena. Do the same here! is it really that hard?

I think i just did your job for you guys. No need to pay me though. This ones on me.

The fearless e-dragon slayers of WoW got jealous, and I predict that Blizz will take all our toys away to make them feel better. Not just the 2200 weapons, my guess is that their upcoming change is going to put everything just out of reach for the majority of PvPers. At least, it will if it holds true to past changes. Get ready for Raid or Die 2.0!
Tie goes to the dragon slayers I guess : (
