I know my comp is not that Hot, but my FPS has always been in the 20-30.

after the patch it is usually 0-4 during combat. I can't do anything.

Got kicked out of my guild 25m raid cause my DPS is crap and I kept dying to stupid !@#$.

my Sub renew is coming up so you better fix this %^-*.
you want blizz to buy you a decent computer? Seems logical.

No, I want Blizzard to fix whatever they screwed up on this last patch.

Never had this problem before on my computer. And multiple people have reported the same problem.
Outdated addons are the prime cause of framerate drops....Recount is especially nasty in that regard.

Hello Highborns,

If your guildmates and raid members have discovered a commonality, like a particular video card or driver version, we'd greatly appreciate a Bug Report in the Bug Report forum:

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/932784199

EDIT:
These steps have helped some players in this thread:

1) If you have a laptop with Optimus technology, set it to use the more capable video card.

2) Go to the login screen and click on "Options" > Click on "Sound" in the left pane > Uncheck the "Use hardware" box from the "Hardware" section > Click on "Okay"

3) Thanks to Crunchynuget:
"Windows 7 has a power options (profile). If set to 'Balanced' or 'Power Saver' Windows will limit each competent down to save power. Change this to 'Performance' and you'll see a big difference. I went from 'Power Saver' to 'Performance' and noticed a 100% increase. (1 - 15 FPS on Low to 15 - 40 FPS on Ultra in LFR).

The Steps are generally

Classic Mode
Start --> Control Panel --> Power Options

New Windows 7 Mode
Start --> Control Panel --> System --> Power Options "

4) Run as administrator — Right-click on the World of Warcraft shortcut, and choose "Run as administrator".

Hello Highborns,

If your guildmates and raid members have discovered a commonality, like a particular video card or driver version, we'd greatly appreciate a Bug Report in the Bug Report forum:
my fps is generally 70-90, after this patchs its down to 34.With a 74/79ms ping, it is now so laggy I dont even want to log in.and the 64 bit client? forget it.That thing gp's out and crashs everytime I touch my in game settings.
I am having the same problem..in raids my FPS is down to 7!!!!
It does seem like many people are being affected with FPS issues lately.
I was in a guild run Monday night, For madness, My screen locked up, Was showing 1fps.
Needless to say, I died.
I have done everything from Deleting my WTF Folder. Performing GPU, CPU and Memory diagnostics. Running the repair tool, Even took my PC down for a good cleaning, using air compressor to blow the slight amount of dust that had accumulated on my heatsinks, etc.

I noticed that while I'm out of combat/out of raid, I can get anywhere from 70 to 100 fps, get into a raid and fps drop between 7 and 10.
The only work around that I have discovered is playing with camera at max distance, and have all video settings at its lowest settings.

I've also been getting random LUA errors, and most involve the Blizzard files that are in the \addons folder.

There is a problem going on since the last update, But I seriously don't think its going to be fixed anytime soon since the problem seems to be so complicated to isolate.

The only common issues I've seen with other complaints is most users seem to be using some variety of an nVidia Card and/or Realtek Audio...
Let's try to find some commonalities, like a particular model of video card, or version of drivers. Can you post some computer information from the Direct X Diagnostic Tool (dxdiag)?

  • Hit the Windows key + R
  • Type in:
  • dxdiag
  • Hit Enter or OK

Click on the Save All Information button at the bottom, and Save a DxDiag text file.
Copy and paste everything, except for the last section:
------------------
DirectShow Filters
------------------

After you paste everything into a post, highlight everything, and hit the "pre" button (It says "Code Blocks" when you hover your mouse over it).

Some of the addons cause this. Sometimes it's the directx. Some cards even though are directx 11. Still do not play better on 11. You need to look at other things like resolution, sometimes running native is better. And sometimes not, and need to use like 800x600. Only other option is get a better video card. Blizzard won't design a game because there is that 10% that computers can't handle the graphics. It's not their issue if your drivers are out of date. That's all part of owning a computer, maintain it like your car oil changes. But, you need to try other things.

One issue I know is, since this last patch. There has been alot more reports about over heating gpu's. Not sure what in the patch or game that caused that. Because to me the resolution or graphics looks the same to me now as it did in 4.2.

Nonsense.

On Monday night, people have good FPS.
On Tuesday, FPS takes a nosedive.
There are no major changes in computer configuration between Monday and Tuesday.
There *was*, however, a client patch between Monday and Tuesday.

Now go ahead and tell us the problem is in the computers (which didn't change) and not in the client code (which did). Come on. We'll all have a good laugh when you do.
I'm going to have to comment on this.... I've had the same problem after this small patch this past Tuesday.... I'm not on an ideal computer either, but before the shutdown / patch etc. my system was running as normal, nothing out of the ordinary. Now when an encounter starts (whether it be pvp or a raid, even trash) my frames drop down to 3 and below.

Ive updated my computer's software, gpu, addons, even turned off every addon I have to see if the issue would be fixed; and the end result, still having the same issues.

I'm running on Win-XP SP3.
EDIT: 9600gt nvidia with it's latest driver.
I posted in a couple of other threads, but since this one is getting notice from a blue poster, I'll dump the dxdiag information here, as well as anecdotal information.

Tuesday night, I raided DS10 heroic on a deathknight alt and didn't notice any framerate issues. Wednesday night, I tried to raid DS25 heroic on this character. From the first trash pull, my framerate was abysmal. I was logging in and out and disabling addons, lowering settings, disabling passive system security stuff (realtime antivir scanning, etc), whatever I could do. On the Morchok fight, I could barely play. On Yor'sahj, there was no way, so excused myself from the raid.

Edit: Of course, there were no issues before Tuesday.

This may not be helpful. But I had a similar issue when I tried using the new 64 bit client. The game was trying to load on my onboard graphics card (which sucks). This was resulting in TERRIBLE fps.

I noticed this by right clicking on the client.exe and it allows me to choose which graphics processor to run the game with. For some reason the integrated processor was set as default. Switching this brought happiness back into my life.
I'll give it a try Velnrak, but this card has disagreed with driver upgrades before, and other posters have talked about how driver upgrades haven't helped.
Do you know the particular manufacturer for the 7900? Is it overclocked?

Some of the addons cause this. Sometimes it's the directx. Some cards even though are directx 11. Still do not play better on 11. You need to look at other things like resolution, sometimes running native is better. And sometimes not, and need to use like 800x600. Only other option is get a better video card. Blizzard won't design a game because there is that 10% that computers can't handle the graphics. It's not their issue if your drivers are out of date. That's all part of owning a computer, maintain it like your car oil changes. But, you need to try other things.

What else didn't change since the patch? Most addon code.

Addons, especially popular ones need to be redone after major patches. Running out of date addons especially if Blizzard has made client side changes WILL cause massive issues-usually in the FPS department.

So do what Blues already suggest.....move your Addons folder OUT of the Interface directory and relaunch the game. Play without addons for a while, enough to get into some demanding areas and see if your FPS takes a nosedive. If it doesn't, it was addon related and authors need to be prompted to update their particular addon.

You and I are running the exact same video card and having the exact same problem. It seems whatever this problem is it's definitely effecting Nvidia cards. I'm one of several people in my guild with this problem and we all have Nvidia cards.

In answer to the post above it's not an add on problem. I've deleted the cache, WTF and Interface folders, run the repair, updated my video drivers and played the game with no add ons at all with my graphic settings set low. The problem still persists. Something is screwed up in the patch.
