Need help finding a UI / add-on Designer

UI and Macro
I've tried many different UI's and add-on's (through the years of playing) that you can get off curse or wowinterface, they all have their own pro's and con's. But I'd like to now try and make my own.

I would like help finding up-to-date programs and sites for writing my own add-on's and such. I've got the book "Beginning Lua With World of Warcraft Add-ons" from a friend, and have been running into a few walls with the programs it states to use being out of date by 2-3 years.

So any help from those of you that make your own add-on's and UI's would be very appreciative.
I don't use a WYSIWYG program, just a text editor with syntax highlighting (Notepad++ on Windows, Kate on Linux).

This page covers the very basics of making an AddOn:

This page has a few tutorials on the Lua language itself:

WoW Programming also has a few resources:

I use Notepad++ myself, and learned what I learned from "World of Warcraft Programming." The book is now in its second edition, and the WoW Programming site mentioned above is a companion to this book.
Thank you for the info, I'll be taking a look at those and keep an eye on that book.

that book is a little outdated too, but most of it still works. you just gotta keep an eye on the changes, especially with MoP around the corner.
I saw Something called IGAS. It looked awesome, but it was abandoned 2 years ago. Any chance something new to this extent exists? Almost like making a webpage but using an editor in game to create some simple but fun addons for beginners wanting to learn?

the best text editor imho is Notepad++ for a beginer, also please refrain from posting in old threads.

As for making fun addons in game all I do is make a blank .lua file and a .toc file and run from there.
