So there's clear bias (Madoka vs Sora no Oto)

Movies, TV and Entertainment
Upon watching the first episode of Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Cloaked instantly noticed the unique art style. It isn't necessarily bad, but...

Anime News Network gives the art an "A":

Cloaked does NOT think it is worthy of an A.

This would not be such a problem had they not given Heaven's Lost Property (Sora no Otoshimono) a "B":

You decide:

Cloaked used her decisive skills as a rogue to deduce which series had better art. Cloaked is sure other seasoned rogues can do the same.

DISCLAIMER: Cloaked knows PMMM is all super-good and whatnot, but it is definitely looking like the producers settled with the art and didn't give it as much as they did the plot.

Who knows? Maybe Cloaked is wrong.

... HAH!
I opened the first image and it was of girls in short skirts...

But they looked like they were nine.

Cloaked, why don't you sit down. We need to talk before you get in trouble.
Cloaked has a thread-creation quota, doesn't he? :P

before you get in trouble.

Compare that art to the latter images. WHICH ONE IS BETTER??????

P.S.: the girls are 14-15
Animation can't be defined by still images, I'd have to watch those shows to be able to tell the difference.

Personally, I still hold the team that did Afro Samurai as the best animation team in the world.

but i stopped watching anime after Berzerk =( it ruined everything i tryed to watch imo.

P.S.: the girls are 14-15

This does not help!
Haha, Cloaked's thread got redirected XD
Cloaked is now a movie star!
lol. Poor Cloaked! Thread redirect!

Art does not necessarily have to do with the animation style. Madoka is full of well crafted shots and beautiful art. You'll see in the latter episodes.
EWWWWW blues will redirect Cloaked but they will never sticky Cloaked

the infamy continues...
I havent seen HLP but I did look at the links you gave.

I THINK it has to do with how styled Madoka is. The art style is very unique especially the scenes involving the Witches. Or the scene were Sayaka is losing it and beating the crap out of an already defeated witch. It probably gave the anime the style points to get an A in art.

Or it could be the reviewer really likes the show and was biased with the rating. I love PMMM but id never give it an A for art. All Moe should automatically get no higher than a C on art just out of principle.

But anywho, Cloaked doesn't doubt Madoka's awesomeness, but Sora Oto is EXTREMELY awesome; both the art AND animation is solid 100% of the time. There's no reason it should have gotten a B!!!!!!!!!
Cloaked has convinced me to try out Sora.

Yah Cloaked!
Oppai shows don't really do anything artistic though. :o Hence the rating.

Cloaked has convinced me to try out Sora.
Be wary of fanservice, though. >_>

This is exactly the kind of bias Cloaked was talking about. <_<

It has fanservice -- LOTS of fanservice -- but it is a very solid series, so much that it has 2 seasons and a movie out already and is coming out with a third. The plot is ridiculously complex, so much that Cloaked still doesn't get it, but that's just more to be wrapped up in the 3rd season.

The characters are awesome and the combat is great for a romantic comedy. Speaking of comedy, it is HILARIOUS! There are episodes dedicated solely to the main character's antics that are full of humor and... bouncy goodness.

It's fanservicey, but breaks the stigma that fanservicey anime has nothing else to offer.

P.S.: the girls are 14-15

This does not help!
PMMM probably got it for the insanely tripped-out alternative universes they battle in.

In my experience, any anime with "Sora" in the name is going to be loaded with it.
Madoka's story is solid throughout the series, each episode expands and reveals more about the overall plot. Each Episode builds on what came before it and expands the narrative to it's eventual climax. If you miss even a single episode you loose vital parts of the story.

Sora is mostly a bunch of one offs. there is a loose plot thread that goes through the series as a whole but it is hardly touched in most episodes. You only get the Major story elements in the first and last episodes of the series. If you just took the actual Plot elements and put them together in a coherent story you would maybe have a 2 hour movie.

All of Madoka is an excellent story from start to finish.
Sora is a good story surrounded by trivial and often distracting fluff.
