It's not about "liking" or "disliking" it. It's about the fact that they made something I didn't want initially instead of the things I did want initially. This was cleared multiple times in the thread and I understand the thread is huge so it may have been hard to come across.

I fixed this for you.

Most of the long-term people who've actually left WoW because of the dumbing down of the game don't care enough to subscribe again and post on these forums.

Nice shot Shaq, too bad like usual, its a miss.

Cute name, but again, your opinion means nothing to me. I stand by my posts.
The "majority" isn't always right. There are examples, in history, of this.

Aren't you arguing that they should never have changed the game from what preceded it in the first place? Because that's what the majority wants?

lol, you have a funny definition of truth.

OPs downrated post says otherwise.

When it comes to business and adding a feature to a game that people may or may not enjoy... Yes. The majority is always right. Please the majority of your players. Catering to the minority never works out in business.

Ok, so blizzard should listen to people that aren't paying customers? And if you're mad about the game being dumbed down what does that have to do with pet battles?

Blizzard was apparently in such a rush to bring back the old, long-term subscribers by giving them free 80's. You bet they care. Money is money.

Yeah, you're totally not in the minority, that's why the post is high rated. Oh wait, it's not.

You are arguing with the guy who says world of WARcraft, the game where two oposing factions of PLAYERS are at war, should be more about pets fighting than pvp.

Good luck.
Hello everyone, I'm the OP. To the supporters of this thread, my original post has been marked as "Low-rated". If you like what I have expressed, and support further response from Blizzard, it would do wonders to thumbs up the post. Thank you.

I think it's safe to assume many more don't agree.

As far as I can tell, the "many more" who don't agree are using arguments every bit as fallacious as far too many on the side of the OP. If you're interested in a real discussion, not one based around "I like pet battles are fun!" and "Pet battles are ruining warcraft," I direct you to my comments and to those individuals who have been so gracious as to offer me considered responses. We've had a pretty decent discussion, with points ceded on both sides (ex. my post #277), amid also arguing against the zealots "sharing" our perspective (ex. post #232).

Edit: I apologize for not linking directly to my co-debaters' posts. To be honest, I'm just being too lazy to find them all, too. They're quoted in mine, below--I do strongly recommend reading in their entirety any posts from which the snippet of quotation hooks you.

Anyone who doesn't have at least a vague understanding of how game development works doesn't deserve to have an opinion on how Blizzard uses its resources.

This has got to be the best rebuttle to OP's post.

OP is the same line of inbred mongoloid who screams when we get new vanity items instead of raids. Because the people that develop cloaks and armors are the EXACT same people who make the raids.

I can have an opinion because I am a PAYING customer. Case closed.

So do we!

And we seem to be the more prevalent demographic!

No.

I am neither for nor against Pet Battles. It is an optional feature.

It's an optional feature that must, by construction of our economic system, come with either an opportunity cost (i.e. Project 9664, http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/4768347221?page=16#314 ) or, in my view, a very troubling direction among decisionmakers (i.e. not even considering projects centered on improving and extending warcraft-unique content).

Edit: The latter paraphrased from http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/4768347221?page=14#267 .

And I can tell you that your opinion is stupid and built with the kind of logic I expect from a 2nd grader.

Again, your insults do nothing to support your "argument". And each time you name-call I will continue to report your posts.

I really hope Blizzard takes these comments seriously because we certainly are not in the minority

I'm so confused.
