Fellow hunters

Wyrmrest Accord
If I see the silver dragon then I just auto-fire in case it drops something good. Haven't brought down one of the hunter pets yet though.
I haven't yet come across any of these hunter pets, except once, and on that occasion I asked in general chat if anyone wanted to tame the critter.

My advice is the same as it is for miners and anyone else currently at level cap who wants/needs something from the lower level zones. Wait for Mists, and then spend the first few days in the old zones looking for these things, since most of the players will be busy leveling their 85s to level cap again.

Not saying it's a bad thing, but the hardcore raiders that want to vie for world, zone, or server firsts will be leveling as quickly as possible, and that frees up a LOT of the old zones for rare-hunting and profession gathering.

I'd guess it has to do with 25g in the pocket is worth more than some random person having a random pet.

An' this is right there is the core of the ongoin' liberal/conservative debate. Can't put it in no clearer terms.
Must suck to be you then. I never kill rare spawns as I am always looking for them myself. The only one I've ever achieved to tame was Loque'Nahak in the Sholazar Basin. But if I ever see another Hunter killing a rare spawn, I'll give him a piece of my mind for the both of us.
What I want to know is why I'm the only person who was actively hunting Ghostcrawler on my Hunter. I was ready for hours of having to try and find the guy. 1.5 hours later, I had a tamed ghost crab, and not some much as a lick of competition...

The only rarespawn hunter pets that gives an achievement are Loque'nahak in Sholazar Basin and Nuramoc in Netherstorm. All the others are solely fluff for hunters.

I thought Aotona and King Krush were part of the Northrend achievement, too?
Because we're in pre-expansion stagnation and all the jackasses on the server have nothing better to do than annoy people. And yes... They do it because they know it pisses off other hunters.

This, though I would never do such a thing, and I facepalm that another hunter would do such a thing.

Seriously people. =/
I think some of them also do it to -deny- other hunters from getting the same pet so they can be unique snow flakes all by themselves.

So, being jerks, basically.

Damnit, first I was thinking of just spirit beasts, (which Loque is the only spirit beast that's also an achievement), then I remembered Nuramoc (because I'm bummed I need to kill him for the achievement), and for a long while in Wrath, Aotona wasn't tameable, (killed him three times prior, wound up getting him shortly after they made him tameable), and King Krush...well, he blurred in my brains and I had actually just remembered all of this and came back here to edit that in. xD Ya got me!

Try to remember where you were >.>

There's 0 reason to be in that area, so little GC gets to roam around that empty ledge for hours. I almost always find him up and unmolested and can just float around with him till a hunter can come by to tame. I'm going to guess it's two reasons 1) nobody digs the crabby patty. 2) it's way the eff out in the middle of nowhere, in a zone that most players hated, (not me! I loved it!).

As for the rest about people getting up in arms about killing. It's a douche move, for sure, but I try not to get upset about it--mostly just disappointed in the person murdering someone's potential companion.
It's the same people who see me turtle-polying critters and take it upon themselves to kill them all. It's a destructive type of entitlement, I think.

Revolting Peasant as in a peasant that is a part of an uprising? Or revolting as in what most girls call me

Both.
All I want is one spirit beast. ONE. IT CAN BE THE STUPID BEAR FOR ALL I CARE.

/cry

Gondria and Arcturis are the easiest ones to get in my opinion.
I go around Silithus occasionally to kill the rares there for greenz.
I've killed Deth'tilac once before. Early hours of the morning, when my sleep schedule was screwed over. I checked Hyjal and the Molten front for any Hunters, and there were none.
So I dragged him back to the tree hub, and he proceeded to Dethstrike everything to death.

But then, the next day, I found the spider again, and there was a hunter who wanted him, and I helped to tame him.

It balances out.
I'll admit I see the Silver Dragon, my first instinct is 'Arcane Shot Barrage'.

That said, Rare or Unique Skinned Pets are awesome. Here's some of the pets I think look 'awesome', and trying to find the 'lowest' level of each sort so that people can get into them earlier.

White Bat: Ressan the Needler, a Rare Span that pops up in Tirisfal Glade: http://www.wowhead.com/npc=10357

Owls:

This is the Non-Beast Mastery 'Spirit Beast' owl, the Emerald Spirit, a ghostly green owl : http://www.wowhead.com/npc=34982

How about having a Night Elf Druid stuck in Flight Form coming along on your adventures? The Daggercap Hawk lives in Northrend, but is very low level and thus quite suitable for even beginning Hunters who have a powerful friend to escort them! : http://www.wowhead.com/npc=24172

Sadly, you'll have to wait a while to upgrade to the Superiour Tauren Model, the Fjord Hawk : http://www.wowhead.com/npc=24747

It's a Rat with Wings! Seagulls stole my chips! : http://www.wowhead.com/npc=47680

What's Red and Black and probably going to give you nightmares? The Netherskate from Outlands! : http://www.wowhead.com/npc=21901

Purple and Gold and, thanks to those Apexis Crystals, probably smarter than you? The Auther Ray from the regions surrounding Orgrillar! : http://www.wowhead.com/npc=22181

Ravagers! Alien, spiky, almost cute as they waddle towards their victims on those tiny little legs. From the Hellfire Peninsula, we bring you .. the Purple and Green Skitterer, http://www.wowhead.com/npc=19189 , the striking Orange and Black Razorfang Hatchling, http://www.wowhead.com/npc=16932 , and the dark, brooding, Purple and Black Venomspitter, http://www.wowhead.com/npc=19350 !

And because more nightmare fuel is always better, Ravagers that are even spiker than before!
Bigger, Greener and probably a Hippy, the Quillfang Ravager, http://www.wowhead.com/npc=16934
The bigger brother of the Venomspitter, the Ravager! http://www.wowhead.com/npc=19349
Forget the Angry Birds, here comes the Big Daddy Mack of the Ravager family, the Razorfang Ravager! http://www.wowhead.com/npc=16933

Serpents ... not my favourite critter, but handy in a pinch. Also good for terrorizing the hell out of Gnomes and Goblins.

Predominantly white with blue-green belly, spines and frills, the Deviate Moccasin from the Wailing Caverns! http://www.wowhead.com/npc=5762

Purple with white bands, pale pink spines and frills and a faint pink belly, the Deviate Viper of the Wailing Caverns might be for you! http://www.wowhead.com/npc=5755

A more mono-tone servent, this attractive blue Deviant Adder loves hugs and spitting toxic venom in your face. Found only in the Wailing Caverns. http://www.wowhead.com/npc=5048

A florescent Pink-Red with purple spines and frills and a burnished golden belly, the Needlespine Shimmerback is a colourful choice. http://www.wowhead.com/npc=48132

For when you absolutely have to scream 'mass-murdering psycopath', the bloody-red mono-tone Sunburst Adder is probably your first bet for Limbless Terror-Inducing Sidekick. http://www.wowhead.com/npc=44594
What's more terrifying than a Snake snapping at your legs? A Flying Snake snapping at your face! A much maligned breed, the Wind Serpent can be deadly with the right training ... SO LONG AS YOU BASTARDS KEEP THEM AS FAR FROM ME AS POSSIBLE!

The Deviant Dreadfang is an attractive specimen when it's not spitting burning toxins into your eyes! And attractive blue-grey colour with bright cyan-blue markings running down it's back and a similar colouration on it's belly, with midnight-blue wings , this is 'Cool' Brother of the Flying Snake family. : http://www.wowhead.com/npc=5056

A pale, unassuming green with a yellow-gold belly and wings that fade from olive-green to sunwashed-yellow towards the outer edges, the Deviate Stinglash! http://www.wowhead.com/npc=3631

Cream coloured with pale lavender wings and a metallic grey belly, Arash-ethis from Ferals is one of the more dignified looking Flying Serpents. http://www.wowhead.com/npc=5349

Blood-red with paler wings and an off-white belly, Azzere the Skyblade almost looks like the mortal offspring of a certain soul-devouring Loa we all know and love to beat the loot out of ... http://www.wowhead.com/npc=5834

And because there's never enough spikes ....

Blue, Spikey and Dangerous, the Cobalt Serpents that nest within the ruins of Sethekk Halls make for an intimidating pet. With black spines fading to white at the tips, membranous blue wings fading to white towards the trailing edges and the cobalt-blue scales that give this serpent it's name. http://www.wowhead.com/npc=19428

As anyone can tell you, Red goes faster, and the Scalewing Serpent is as fast as they come. Pale Red with fading wings and dark spines, this beast lurks in the Blade's Edge Mountains. http://www.wowhead.com/npc=20749

Looking for something bold? This ash-black serpent has magma-yellow spines, belly-scales and wings, fading to golden yellow towards the 'ends', lurking within the mana-twisted badlands of Netherstorm. http://www.wowhead.com/npc=20673

Finally, we have this quasi-deific scion from Zul'Drak, the aqtly named Scion of Quetz'lun. With a snow-white back and sides, a black belly and wings of subtly faded peach, it possesses a certain majesty in line with it's ancestry. http://www.wowhead.com/npc=28477

Vultures ... ugly, but determined creatures. Plus feeding them is easy, they're not picky, so long as it's relatively fresh. They get along well with the Forsaken, although I've heard some of them accquire a taste for their masters after a while ...

Zaricotl, the only White and Black Vulture in existence, and stuck looking perpetually pissed off about it, from the Badlands! http://www.wowhead.com/npc=2931

A white and black Condor, Lord Condar from Loch Modan isn't picky about what he eats, so long as there's plenty of it. http://www.wowhead.com/npc=14268

Pale blue with black and white banded flight feathers, the Dragonbone Condor can only be tamed by Hunters who can safely brave Northrend, but proves a worthy companion in the long run. http://www.wowhead.com/npc=26483

And of course, Nightmare Fuel .... *sigh*

Not only is it dead, but it's a mutant freak with two heads! The Angered Arakkroa Protector only enters our world under a specific circumstance, normally when an Arakkroa from the Blades Edge mountain nears death near one of their ritual circles. Better Hunters than myself have given the detail on how to tame this spectral monstrosity in the link. http://www.wowhead.com/npc=21470

A brilliant green two-headed monster from the Blasted Lands with bands of grey running all over it's body, the Bonepicker Felfeeder can be tamed ... if you've got the stomach for it. http://www.wowhead.com/npc=5983

Tameable only if you have done the quest, Torgos is a massive, vibrant blue-green Bonelasher with the typical grey banding over his body, a true abomination against nature. http://www.wowhead.com/npc=18707

The final two-headed monstrosity, the White with black-and-grey banding mate of Torgos, Trachela, is also found in Terrokar Forest, much smaller and much closer to the ground than her mate. http://www.wowhead.com/npc=21515

That's just a small sample, I'll be back later but right now my cats are brawling and I've got this six-cat ball flailing around my lounge-room with the catnip toy in the center of it. see you soon.
Petopia.com has the most current list of tameable hunter pets. It's been around since mid vanilla (original WoW), if not earlier.
Because I'm part of Nesingwary's Expedition and I like killing beasties.

Because achievements. The only rare spawn I've only managed to see/tame was the spectral tiger in Zul'Drak, but if I had them all tamed and didn't see anyone around trying to tame them, I'd kill them too for the achievement.

The only rarespawn hunter pets that gives an achievement are Loque'nahak in Sholazar Basin and Nuramoc in Netherstorm. All the others are solely fluff for hunters.

Also Goretooth, Marticar, Aotona, Icehorn, Terror Spinner, and King Krush.

Yea, I corrected myself in another post:

But Marticar, Icehorn, Goretooth and Terror Spinner share models with non-rares, and since they normalized everything forever ago there isn't a point to camping one of those to tame.
