IsActiveBattlefieldArena False During Staging

Is there a reliable way to tell if a player is in an arena game OR about to start an arena match?

So far, all I got is this (but it seems rather hacky):

function IsInArena()

return IsActiveBattlefieldArena() or (UnitInBattleground("player") and GetCurrentMapAreaID() < 0)
end
