Pandaren Language

Moon Guard
I really hope this is some sort of joke.

The only thing I have gathered from the pandaren language is a deranged series of "OMS" and "NOMS". Is blizz pranking us?
Is blizz pranking us?

Yep.
A real prank would have only existed in beta. This is just stupid

...

This is world of warcaft.
The Pandaren language was supposed to be Pig Latin... so yeah, I guess after whining fans called Pandaren a joke, Blizzard decided to troll everyone.
I don't see why the language is such a big deal. I can see why someone would be disappointed, but I don't think it'd amount to them being a joke race.
It can be amusing. It can be facepalm worthy.

I won't lie, when I first saw this while RPing, my heart sunk. But really it's harmless, kind of cute, and it's very easy for me to use Pandaren words while speaking in Common.

"May the Om nom be with you."
It's never really bothered me, either. I find it kind of amusing. The Pandaren are a nice mix of seriousness and light-heartedness so far.

Om nom nom nom!!

Nom, nom om nom. Nom nom. Om nom

Nom.
Would you rather them speak in moon runes?
WoW can't transmit chinese characters in the US client, but Starcraft can.

Makes me sad.
I thought WoW chat was UTF-8. Sure it's not just the font lacking Chinese glyphs?
Really? That's adorable. I'd RP that.
Om nom nom nom!!

Nom, nom om nom. Nom nom. Om nom

Nom.

Nom om, nomnom omnom nom.

Nom.
They... The panda language is noms?

I play with the default font.
Embrace the Omnom.
It's a foreign language. You can't really discern all the sounds the words make, other than a general idea of how does the language sound.

When a non-pandaren listens to pandaren speech, their language sounds to them as if it's "om nom nom", the same way German sounds "ANGRY ANGRY ANGRY YELLING" to non-German speakers, etc.

What you see in your chat is not the words being said themselves, but how does your character hear their speech. The same way not all "zugas" would mean the same thing, even if an Alliance member would hear them all like that.
