If it had more armor then it was an upgrade!

- Blue gems only went into blue sockets. Yellow gems went into Yellow, ect. Can not put a square object in a round hole!

LOL I did this.

Guilty of this as well.
Stacking INT on armor so I could learn weapon skills faster on my Hunter. INT leather... I'm sure Druids loved me back then.
Nelf starter zone. Vanilla WoW. A couple months after WoW came out - not sure exactly when, but everything was new to everyone. My very first toon in a game since like Pac Man(which I sucked at). My boyfriend tells me to use this button to attack the nightsaber. (Was the spell smite). Nightsaber runs past my toon and starts attacking it from behind. I literally screamed in the apartment, "OH GOD I AM GOING TO DIE! WHAT DO I DO?" He calmly informed me to the toon around. "Oh." I lived.
I was a mage who always stood in melee range.
I usually needed instead of greeded because I thought greed was... well greedy.
Regardless of what could possibly pull, I -always- went after a ! ? or herb or mining node.
I vendored -everything-. I didn't know how to use the AH, or even know the concept behind it.
Never knew I had to train my spells until I was probably level 40.

Started playing WoW 2nd week BC released. I think I was still pretty nubtastic until a little before Wrath released.
Oh, OH!

One of my first characters was a female human paladin, and was having tons of fun exploring. Around level five I wondered off towards the south after hearing about werewolves in general chat or something (might have been zombies?).

After outrunning kobolds and making my way across the river, I was immediately killed by a wolf with a skull attached to it's nameplate. I presumed 'release spirit' translated to 'send to the afterlife', to which I promptly logged out, deleted the character, and quietly sobbed for the next half hour.

Then I made an orc warrior in her stead.
My first character was a nelf hunter. I was around level 15-ish and I pulled something(s) I couldn't handle. I got away, but my pet died. I didn't know I could revive it. I was sooo sad. But I remembered and realized that the pet came with the new character.

So I deleted my hunter and remade her so I could get my pet back.
My second toon was an undead warlock, I got really bored with the night elf starting zone so I thought I'd try something that looked way more awesome. I got to like level 5 and tried to run into Western Plaguelands thinking that the level ?? bears wouldn't catch me. Some nice hunter saved me a few times and escorted me back to Tirisfal. I then went on an amazing journey around the edge of the entire continent until I got eaten by... like an unholy paladin or something? I'm not sure exactly what it was as I never tried to find the mob again and I don't know if it still exists.

My priest had all her skill points crammed into each available shadow skill. Each row? All talents to max.

I tried beating up a level ?? alliance player who was afk with a fishing rod on my warlock.

I also didn't know gems went into any slot and spent ages trying to find a prismatic gem for my prismatic slot.
When I first got invited to a group I went into panic mode, thinking declining or accepting would rule the fate of my character for better or worse.

Also, I fell off of Teldrassil and had to corpse run so many times just to get to the water. It took at the -very- least an hour - because I didn't know you could ressurect at the graveyard.
Back in the old days before I was a RPer I was raiding level 80 Naxx and my brother stopped by to see me while I was raided, we were both in the same guild and he told me to tell everyone whats up all that...

Well he stuck around to watch me raid...and being my first raid...I constantly kept hitting m for the map before Naxx has a map because I was feeling lost.

"Dude stop.."
"OK OK."
....five minutes later
"Are you serious?"
"I'm lost ok it's just in my nature to hit m."
ten minutes later
"I'm gonna rip the m key out of your keyboard..."

Yus :<
"Hi! Do you have any greens I can disenchant?"

I then linked some malachite and asked if that was okay.

I then proceeded to get trolled for being a noob.

/single tear
I needed an agility cloak for my mage because I kept getting aggro and wanted the dodge for higher DPS via no spell pushback on a successful dodge.

Likewise.

Edit: This is to the whole "only this color can go in this socket" post.
Twylla got me hooked about a year and a half ago and I remember logging in for the first time and trying to take my first quest and I couldn't figure out how to make it work. I logged out and said /nope for about 3 more days until she convinced me to try again.

Then, somewhere in my first gathering quest, I got SO EXCITE when I realized OMG THE THINGS I HAVE TO PICK UP - THEY SPARKLE! I'm sure Twylla was doing much /facepalming to herself for those first few months.

-.-
I had previously played EQ classic for a long time. I thought BRD meant bard. I thought 2-3 second cast times were short. I thought a 3-second fear (death coil) was useless.
