Launcher Problems

Technical Support
Really? How can you break the launcher for this many people? Why should I have to take all these useless steps when it's clearly an issue tons of people are having?

Also just tried deleting my Updates file in the hope that the Launcher would download the new patch, but unfortunately it just downloaded 16309 again... what seems to be the issue here??

O_o

The wow.tfil file tells the launcher where to download new files and the wow.mfil details which files should be there. Both were modified today.

So my gut feeling tells me either your connecting to the EU patch server somehow (see post #39) or it's not updating the wow.mfil and wow.tfil files correctly.

Try downloading a new wow.tfil from :

http://patchup.info/wow/tfil/NA/

Unzip and throw into the wow folder replacing what's there. mfil downloaded from :

http://patchup.info/files/mfil/2012-12-10-NA-16357-AE4379D2E6B819E4CC486D91FA298AC8-810E9A/WoW.mfil

Also throw that in the wow folder replacing what's there.
Tried it, not working.
So i guess its connecting everyone who has the problem to the EU patch server...

Thank you :) yours worked for me!!!!!
Jurannok,

When I tried booting the game by bypassing the launcher, it listed 16309 as the patch version in the lower left corner. It is also the file in World of Warcraft/Updates - I tried deleting this file to force the launcher into downloading the latest patch, but it only re-downloaded wow-0-16309-OSX-final.MPQ. Still no attempts by my launcher to download the latest patch.

Inside my data folder is an enGB file as well as enUS.

@BlueSpaceCow, thanks for the advice, but this fix didn't work for me either.

This means you're probably using the EU game client. We haven't released this patch in Europe yet so that will create patch looping issues if you're trying to connect to the NA realms with the EU client.

Blu mentioned some steps to try and resolve this. Check the following.

Find and replace or Add this line :
SET patchList "enUS.patch.battle.net:1119/patch"

to your config.wtf. You can find this in the WTF folder of your wow folder. Open using a text editor like Notepad.

Save then open the Launcher again.
Doesn't work, the launcher still keeps looping.
Can't play, told that there's an error and corrupted file. Tried deleting cache, etc. and that didn't work.
This blows, Blizz.

Fix your Launcher update systems.
Have never had a problem and now wasted a day bc of your problem.

I am not a computer person and do not have the time to start fishing through folders to throw stuff away.

It is clearly a Blizz problem. Fix it.
I had a looping launcher.
I solved my issue by going to the C:\ProgramData folder
I then deleted the Battle.net folder

Launcher worked after that.
Not using the EU game client anymore (had previously been installed though). I use the US client and am on a US realm. Tried Blu's advice, no luck :(
I had this problem was well, but a reboot fixed it.

I hadn't rebooted my computer since the last patch, which may or may not have something to do with it.
Macbook Air 13", most updated model

Reboot not working.

Launcher looping.

.tfil and .mfil rewriting of files did not work.

same here,

I'm from europe and play both EU & US and just change the SET locale "enUS"
to SET locale "enGB"

I can play on european server but not on US...
I play US server only.
I used Psyclopse's method of deleting the new file (had today's date) in the Updates file and reloading the launcher and it works now.
Elandreil, tried also removing the file inside the Updates Folder.

No good still not working.
Jurannok,

To summarize, I've tried the following.

- Rebooting.
- Launching via launcher (just cycles/relaunches when I press play).
- Temporarily deleting the launcher and starting up game directly (red realms).
- Deleting Cache, WTF & Interface folders.
- Deleting Cache folder from Data folder.
- Replacing wow.tfil and wow.mfil files.
- Deleting Updates folder and allowing launcher to re-download latest patch (reverted to 16309 anyway)
- Adding SET patchList "enUS.patch.battle.net:1119/patch" to config.wtf file.
- Ran as administrator

I'm running on a Macbook Pro, using the enUS game client & launcher on Dawnbringer realm. Last logged off around 7.5 hrs ago, haven't been able to log on again for over 2 hrs. Also tried submitting a ticket, but no luck there as of yet.

Same in here... Isn't there any downloable file to replace the non-working launcher?
Thanks to everybody and hope it solves quick!
