Fire and Brimstone nerf...Really?

Warlock
anyone else find it coincidental the destruction spec is getting destroyed?
(i was thinking about leveling my next warlock as destruction. this one was leveled in BC)
Why is is coincidental? Cause they'll be getting green fire? Demo gets some green fire as well and yet are largely untouched, so unless you are referring to something else, it's not coincidental, we are just overacting to seeing individual pieces of a giant puzzle that hasn't even been started on yet.
15^2(pi) = normal area of FnB without Mannoroth's Fury
15^2(pi)(5)= enhanced area of FnB with Mannoroth's Fury

If we want to solve for the new radius with Mannoroth's Fury, solve for r with the enhanced area and you will get 34 (which means the diameter of the AoE is 68, not 75, dolt.)

Well, to be a bit pedantic, it's a 500% increase to the area (so multiply by a factor of 6). The radius thus increases by a factor of √6, or 2.45. 15 yards becomes 36.75 (so 73.5 yard diameter).

The change will reduce it to a 24.5 yard radius, or 49 yard diameter. It's a net reduction in total surface area for F&B of ~55%.

destruction spec... getting destroyed.
play on words.
not full irony, but instead a coincidence.
If it's true they are doing this to balance talents (which is pretty stupid IMHO), why not buff the other two instead of doing this?

I really can't understand, it's been proven over and over again that Destruction is the weaker of all three specs. Why is it being nerfed repeatedly each PTR patch?

And don't count on they buffing Incinerate. At most some lame "improvement" like "Incinerate initial damage now deal 2% more damage" or something like that.

Not sure where you've gone wrong but the post you TRIeD to correct is correct and yours is not.

As it stands, MF is not an ADDITIONAL 500% area of effect, thus the multiplier is 5. Some basic iPhone math later shows that the new FNB will cover a radius less than 23 yards, which is barely an upgrade over the original untalented FNB.

You can see the multiplier is 5 as the current tooltip for talented FNB is 34 yards. Do the math yourself to check.

Either way, this is crap.
The reality is that the difference between "Blizzard is destroying destruction!!!!" and "finally doing ur job, gg blizz" will rest entirely on the numbers passes, and the range of FnB really won't be a factor.

If they tune Destruction's numbers upwards, in the end no one will care about a Fire and Brimstone range reduction.
so once again Nerfed for PVP

F'in damn Esport crap

thanks guys, thank a whole F'in lot

The part saying that it's a 500% increase is just a tooltip error. The FnB tooltip becomes 34 yards with MF, which agrees with a 500% modifier to the area, not a 500% increase.
Dest has always been the gimped fire mage spec. Always.

I'm a little bit amused that it's the most viable pvp spec these days - you younguns have no idea how bad dest used to be, how hard you got pwned as dest.

As far as PvE goes? The spreadsheet goblins will crunch the numbers, they'll recommend a spec and a reforge strategy and that's what I'll play (shrug).

Gotta remember that it is a 500% AREA increase, and not radius.
