Freezing & Beeping

Technical Support
I've had a unique problem that I cannot trace to any mod and does not generate a lua error. I can't trigger this or make it happen, it just happens randomly. The game starts stuttering real bad, my character changes direction and starts running sometimes. And me clicking or pushing buttons on keyboard causes nothing but a beeping sound. This sound is coming from my speakers. This will go on for between 10 and 30 seconds sometimes during which I have zero control of the game and hear nothing but a beeping sound. It did just now happen 3 times in the span of 5 minutes while I was in goldshire. Maybe something to do with to much load? Although it has also happened when I was all alone in a zone so I'm clueless.

Things I have tried.

Completely delete / remove WTF and Interface.
Tried with and without mods.
Remove anything that could be causing interference with my speakers (but that wouldn't explain the stuttering & virtual freezing up of the game for however long)
Ran the repair tool.

I lose all control of the game and every click or keypress causes a beeping sound, almost sounds like a dial tone of some sort. This ONLY happens in world of warcraft. I have posted on other forums but have gotten nothing. It can't be a dial tone as I am on a wireless T1 internet that has nothing to do with the phones, we don't have VOIP or anything. Have reset my router / internet connection many times. Have done everything to my computer possible short of formatting and reinstalling. Cleaned with ccleaner, scanned with malwarebytes + spybot+ avast. Defragged and otherwise cleaned it out of all old junk.

This has only started since 5.2 dropped. Have never seen or heard of this before and have no idea what to do with it. Posting a DXDiag although I don't think this is hardware related as I have never had this issue before patch 5.2.

Kiriline,

I'd probably try using another mouse and keyboard, wired, and plugged into the motherboard's USB ports directly and not a hub or extension of any kind.

You might also try booting in selective startup once and playing like that for a little while and see if it happens again.

Bumping to ask OP if the beep is the same as the one at about :26 in this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0Qbc5wUZuM

I ask because I just installed the game (since not playing since, like, a couple months after cata came out) and started having this problem immediately. I'm also in the process of scouring my computer for malware, for the simple reason that it happened once while the WoW launcher was open but I wasn't logged into WoW itself.

Behavior: My laptop stopped responding to all input momentarily. then my mouse cursor traced a clockwise diamond pattern on my screen twice, my computer made a beep like the one in the video, and I could control my machine again. I checked "remote assistance" and disabled it, but that didn't stop the problem from happening again when I actually logged in. Will report if I make any further progress (or make my own thread if it turns out mine is a different thing)
Been looking at this stuff all day... notice A LOT of gigabyte motherboards... i have a generic gigabyte... think it's a BIOS issue? Idk anything about anything but I'm wondering if somehow that's a problem. Any ideas?
ok, I did a full scan with MBAM, and it found nothing. Relogged and the problem happened immediately. Whether it's malware or some crazy bug, it certainly seems to kick in when I run WoW and only then.
bump

Ran the programs mentioned in http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/8414121765 , full scan with MBAM and Microsoft's anti-malware, still nothing. Played WoW an hour or so, no problems. I have another computer that I'll probably mostly play on instead, but it would be great if someone could get to the bottom of this so I don't have to be paranoid for all my other personal information on my laptop

Op on different character. Had forgotten about this thread until I found it just today while googling for a solution... which I still havn't found. I'm not sure about the solution in the video as my whole computer stutters out, it's not just a beeping sound by itself. Everything gets stuttery. But yes it does sound exactly like that and exactly like you are describing yours does. It happens continuously depending on if I'm moving the mouse around or pushing keys. Mouse jumps around the screen as if my FPS dropped to -1 or something. Keypresses are registered, I know that because my character sometimes changes direction during this stuff but it's always very delayed from when I actually do it. If I wait a couple seconds it stops and everything goes back to normal.

I did try a different keyboard and mouse. Finding people with problems exactly like this all over google but no one has a solution yet that I've found. At this point I'm fairly certain it isn't the game although the coincidence of it starting when 5.2 dropped is tough to let go. But as I spend almost all of my time on my computer in the game I just figured game problem initially.
I'm going to necro the !@#$ out of this thread and tell you what the problem was in hopes that anyone else with this problem can solve it as well.

Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center. Thats it. Uninstall that %^-* and your problem will go away. I made this problem go away for me and a friend in my guild. Exact same issue that was solved by uninstalling this software.

If you need some software for keyboard macros like I did, get IntelliType Pro 8.0. I've been using it for about a week now. All the keyboard lag that I experience with M&KC is gone as well as the beeping and locking up.

As far as it starting with 5.2 landing, look back at your windows update. You'll notice this software upgraded a week or so before.
I happen to agree with Bukowskaii! I started having this problem about a week or so ago and it's been bugging me trying to figure out what the problem then it clicked... normally I use a Naga but it has a sort so I got a wireless Microsoft mouse and a week or so 's s.ago it downloaded updated drives and that's when the problem started for me.

I'm going to uninstall the Microsoft Keyboard & Mouse software and see if that fixes the issue... will up-date with the result

Bukowskaii you are my hero! Just back to the game and had the same problem. Sorry for the necro, but I'm sure there are others out there as well.
Agree with above, hero.
Blizz needs to get this noticed!
Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center definately affects WoW in bizzare ways.
It usually happens when my CPU is undergoing huge pressure.
Running 2 clients at once, streaming. Just after a loading screen.
Entering major cities.
It doesn't just freeze WoW input, you lose control over your entire PC.
And yes this seems to ONLY have this affect when playing WoW.
Blizzard, others might have this issue, bug tests, lets go!
Sorry for the thread necro, but I have this issue as well, though I do not have Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center installed on my PC. Using a Logitech G500 mouse and a G15 keyboard, so I am unsure what is causing the issue for me. It happens in pretty much any game, and even in a browser window if I am clicking fast enough. If anyone knows another solution I'd greatly appreciate hearing about it.
this type of thing can happen when ppl dont keep their process list trimmed. ive seen ppl bring their pcs in that have 140 processes running on boot up, and they say its slow and stuff crashes etc blah. well duh u should have 40-50 things running on boot not 140.
if u dont know exactly what loads on startup on your pc then its most likely too much
sprazzle goto msconfig the startup tab and disable all then goto services tab hide microshaft disable all and reboot and test it like that. if its fixed then its some junk youve had running in the background. enable stuff 3 at a time and test it
just to educate someone that reads this, everything in the startup tab in msconfig was installed after windows. nothing in there is needed for windows to function. same deal for services tab when u hide ms
I'm having a similar problem. I have started a thread that maybe you guys can look at to possibly help me out.

I Dont have Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center or IntelliType Pro 8.0

Although just to try it out I did install IntelliType Pro 8.2 (New version) and it didn't help at all.

I'm having the same issue, but it happens in LoL as well as WoW. It's not the game.
