I'm offended when you among others push a self subscribed fanon upon other.

I apologize. Evidently I should not have the KoA's fanon apply at KoA events.

I mean if you like RPing with yourself then I would say yes, that's a good idea.
I was joking with my response in the other thread and edited to clarify - a good read though!
Gilneas is Constantanoplian. No question.

Agreed.
I'm sorry, there's no evidence for Stromgarde being Byzantium. I mean there hasn't even been a Fourth Grand Crusade yet.
Byzantium

Byzantium? HA

The Constantanoplian smashed the Byzantium's every day of the week!
I like Arathi threads!
I like Arathi threads!

I do as well.
Who was doing the Rome thing? I can't see Rome.
Judging by the tabard Arathor is obviously Stonehenge.

A good example.

It's sad that the tabard is so hard to get. We Rp it as a human kingdom. GASP. SO. OUTTHERE! How dare we act like it's STORMWIND.
I'm guessing that you're not a very big fan of Toynbee, Asuryan?
Toynbee is a sociologist, not an historian.

Haha.
I don't involve myself much in the Arathi stuff, but this was a very interesting read.

I'm so glad I wasn't the only one thinking this.
historians distrust large-scale models.

Yes, yes, and more yes! Thank you! As a U.S. historian who maintains a hobby level interest in the Roman Empire, it boils my blood when I hear people say things like, "The U.S. is kinda like the Roman Empire!" Or, "We need to stop deficit spending! It's how Rome died!"

Shut up and read a book for once. The United States and Rome have similarities in the sense that they're comprised of humans who made an empire and made human mistakes. There's no similarity in how the empires were built or run, cultural influence exists only in the sense that almost all western European culture is influenced by the Romans, and there are about a billion factors that caused the Roman Empire to collapse, you can't point to a single one and say, "See! I found the problem!"

Rant aside, this all definitely applies to WoW. Azeroth is a fantasy setting who uses real life civilizations as a baseline for establishing racial cultures. Their histories to not align and no single civilization matches any race or kingdom in Warcraft perfectly.
Excuse me, but you call yourselves historians? And you claim there's no cultural similarities between the US and Rome? Hello?

Rome had columns. Marble columns.
Washington DC has columns. Marble columns.

I believe you owe a few people here an apology. Perhaps a little less Michael Grant, and more Michael Baigent.
More important question. Why is it an historian?

Also, should I be RPing my troll as Aztec, Inca, or Mayan?
