Game Latency (World)

You know it just hit me, this starting happening to me around Thursday night. The same day we had rolling restarts in the morning......

Wondering what the possiblitiys are that something in regards to whatever they did or didnt do with that restart created this problem so many of us are having.

Like I previously stated I had not been having any problems up until then, and now its been a nightmare ever since.
Blues don't work on weekend on this forum, and this issue has been going on for ATT and Cox members for the last week and half almost.

No anwsers, no comments on resolutions.. ect..

if you call you service provider like I have they assure you that it's the game and not their service.

Trying to do anything with a world ping of 21918, is awesome at the best!

I've gotta work weekends......
Same issue, game latency spikes anywhere from 600-1200.
This is very disappointing, seeing as how I just came back to wow.
This has been happening to me for a week straight.

my latency is usually around 80-90 for both world and home. the past week its been at 120- to almost 7k for both worth and home. it does nothing but yo yo back and forth. it usually stays in the red between 3k-4k in both word and home.

it doesnt matter where i am or what im doing in game these spikes are just non stop.

this makes me wish i hadnt just restarted my second wow account because i cant play like this.... i spend most of my time waiting for a low spike to be able to do anything......

I've dealt with the changes to the game over the year, good and bad, and this is the one thing that will get me to quit the game. I'm not paying for a game i cant even play.....
Here is the Tracert I ran -

What affects the above title of my post (Game Latency (World))?

Your world server connection is to the same data center as your (home) realm server.

So it can be anything from the routing between your ISP and Blizzard to traffic management being done by the ISP.

Does the Optimize Network for Speed under System>Network have anything to do with the problems with the spiking maybe? It was checked on my screen. I seem to remember an issue with that option happening before causing lag issues. Anyone remember this as well? Is it suppose to be checked or unchecked? Thanks

That option makes your connection use more bandwidth in an effort to reduce latency.

The actual performance you get from it can vary from ISP to ISP.

For more info :

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/2522462700

My wife was explaining to me this morning that she had a friend who invited her to group which ported her to another realm where she quested just fine this morning. She leaves the group to group with someone from our realm and the lag starts all over again. Is it possible that this issue is only affecting certian realms?

So i just did a battleground (Arathi) on my priest had no issues what so ever, leave the battleground and my Game Latency(world) is now over 2k? Where in the bg it was only around 84ish which is normal for me.

In both these cases you would of been ported into a different World Server each time.

That's beginning to sound like some form of IP range based traffic shaping's going on with your ISP.

Are you on XP ?

You may need to run the command prompt as Admin :

http://www.mywinkb.com/vista-pathping-0-no-resources-fixed/

Do that then run the pathping and post the results.

I am already running in Admin from what I can tell.
You can also try running the pathping on the other computer.

i did as well and got the same results....the tracert worked but pathping did not.

The link suggests not.

Remember being logged into an admin user is not the same as "running as admin"

Sorry about the confusion in terms but by running as admin I mean specifically elevating it to run with admin permissions.

Even logged into an admin user you usually are not running a process with admin permissions.
well when i goto switch users there is nothing else to switch to or log into as well? So I guess I'm confused, how would I get it to admin if it does not give me the option to switch users? Thanks
I was trying to talk to you in-game, Orion- without any response. Maybe you lagged out and didn't get my message? Bluspacecow posted a link that tells you that you need to right click on Command Prompt in the start menu and select 'Run as Administrator,' they are not referring to which account you are logging into the computer with. It's a Vista/7 security thing.
ok, after doing that i typed in the follwing:

pathping 63.240.104.93 > desktop\pathping.txt

and I got this result :

The system cannot find the path specified.

Now what?
Computing statistics for 525 seconds...

The important part comes after that, so be sure to let it finish.
