Arcane Intellect vs Acolyte of Pain vs Novice Engineer
Now that Novice Engineer has been nerfed, which do you guys think is the best draw card of the 3?
Here's my analysis of the 3:
The benefits of novice engineer used to be that she's a decent turn 2 play and drawing her late game simply allowed you to cycle through cards without hurting you much since she only costs 2 mana.
Now that she's nerfed, she's somewhat horrible to play turn 2. Which kinda puts her use back by quite a lot. It's essentially casting paladin's hero power on turn 2. And unlike paladins having our board flooded with creatures isn't so great since we don't exactly synergise with them.
Acolyte of pain is really early-mid game since he usually either soaks up a 3 or more damage hit, pushes for removal, or draws you about 2 cards. He used to be really really good when rush decks were pretty much everywhere. But now, I think the meta has shifted quite a bit towards mid-late.
Drawing him late game + your hero power allows you to immediately replace him. But at the cost of 5 mana. Meaning it doesn't really allow you to cycle through cards efficiently since most of your moves become constricted.
Arcane Intellect is 3 mana for 2. It's a spell so it triggers some cards and is reliable. It's more of a mid-late game card though since playing it early leaves you vulnerable and hurts momentum. Being at 3 mana, it allows you to cycle through cards late game in search of answers and all quite efficiently, but unlike the other 2, you don't get any creatures on the board because of it.
So what do your guys think? Which is best? I can't really rank them.

When you have early board control dropping Acolyte is the best value. Throw down mirrors and you can build up your hand. You can ping him once, run him into a 1dmg minion and leave him for your opponent to deal with, thats 3 card draw, plus force your opponent to either remove him or take a 2nd point of damage to his board... all for 5 mana.
I don't like Arcane Intellect as it gives you no minion. It's slow. Late game if you need cards, and you don't drop a minion on top of that, you are more than likely toast. Even if you do draw a minion from the two cards, you already spent 3 mana, so it limits you. Mid-late game it's a disadvantage. I'd use it early-mid, and only with board control. I removed them from my decks however.
Novice is done, 2 mana for 1 card and a minion that dies if you fart near it. Better to have a useful 2 mana card in place of it. Faerie, Juggler, etc. I wish Mortal Coil was a class neutral.
More often than not, however, your opponent has a minion that has 2 or more attack. So drawing 3 cards from acolyte, while it does happen, is extremely rare.
I guess, I'll totally remove novice engineer from the equation though.
Arcane intellect somewhat does remain a viable option. Although I have removed them from my decks too. And it has been a long time since I touched them.

Ah yes... I've been wondering about them myself as well.
I'm currently running this myself for card draw:
- Thalnos (while not primarily used to draw cards, he does do it)
- Arcane Intellect x2
- Loot Hoarder (only 1 because the 2nd got replaced by Thalnos)
The thing with Arcane Intellect is that it comboes very well with some other cards in my deck:
- Wild Pyromancer, another spell to inflict 1 AOE to combat weenies and imps.
- Apprentice, Making it a 2 cards for 2 mana, much better value.
- Antonidas, Turn 10 combo play, after that just another spell to create fireballs with.
- Mana Wyrm, attack boost
+ then there's the fact this card pretty much lowers your deck size by 2 per AI.
While indeed it doesn't provide a minion on the board, I do have trouble throwing it out because of these combo options. I'm not fully heart set on replacing it yet though occasions where it is just dead weight do tend to happen more often than I would like.
Acolyte of Pain is a good contender indeed, specially considering the synergy with our hero power pinging for cards and friendly fire coming from wild pyromancer. I'm definitely considering putting one in but I don't know in place of what yet if I do it at all.
Novice Engineer is out of the equation. I don't run those in any deck anymore. This includes my rogue deck which has put Shivs back in.

There is also Azure drake and Gadgetzan auctioneer.
I personally run 2 loot horders, 1 azure, and 1 Gadgetzan atm. I am looking to get a second auctioneer for when I have the dust.
It can get ridiculous if you have Antonidas and a Gadgetzan alive at the same time. And a apprentice. 3x fireballs! 3x card draw!

Oh yes, I almost forgot the likes of azure drake and auctioneer.
Azure drake was one of the first rares I crafted and I consider it a staple to my decks since it's somewhat like a 5 mana 4/4 version of blood mage that draws immediately.
I currently run 2 azure drakes, 2 acolytes and 1 arcane intellect.
I don't use gadgetzan since I don't really run much late game spells.
As for arcane intellect, I'm still evaluating it's usefulness compared to acolyte. I only run 1 pyromancer and 1 violent teacher.
