Heroes of the Storm World Championship Announced!

The Nexus portal will soon be transporting the greatest Heroes of the Storm players in the world to a new battleground—BlizzCon! Heroes of the Storm will be featured on stage alongside StarCraft II, World of Warcraft, and Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, with the World Championship for all four events taking place at BlizzCon on November 6 – 7 in Anaheim.

The stakes are high, with a total prize pool of over $1.2 million in total cash and prizes—including $500,000 at BlizzCon. The World Champion team will walk away with $200,000—and bragging rights as the best Heroes of the Storm players in the world.

The first road to BlizzCon qualifiers are coming soon to Australia and New Zealand, China, Europe, Latin America, North America, Korea, Southeast Asia, and Taiwan. These online events will culminate in live regional championships where the eight best Heroes of the Storm teams from around the world will be decided. Further details on how the eight teams will be determined can be found below.

Americas Championship Tournament

  • North America 
    • Monthly tournaments will be held between June and August, and top teams from each tournament (five total) will advance to compete in the Americas Championship Tournament with a live stream on Twitch (www.twitch.tv/blizzheroes). Further details will be announced soon.
  • Latin America
    • The top eight teams from Latin America will face off in the Latin America Championship, and the winning team will advance to the Americas Championship Tournament—more details to come.
  • Australia/New Zealand
    • Eight teams will compete in the Australia/New Zealand Championship, and the winner will advance to compete in the Americas Championship Tournament—more details to come.
  • Southeast Asia 
    • Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines will each send their top teams to the Southeast Asia Championship hosted by Asiasoft where they will battle it out for the title of SEA's top team and the opportunity to represent the region at the Americas Championship Tournament.   • The top two teams from the Americas Championship Tournament will qualify for the Heroes of the Storm World Championship at BlizzCon 2015.

China Championship Tournament

  • Top teams from the China Heroes professional league will advance to the China Championship Tournament hosted by NetEase, where the top two teams will qualify for the Heroes of the Storm World Championship at BlizzCon 2015. Europe Championship Tournament

  • Monthly tournaments will be held between June and August, and top teams from each tournament (eight total) will advance to compete in the Europe Championship Tournament—more details to come.

Korea Championship Tournament

  • Teams will compete in the Korea Championship Tournament, where the top team will qualify for the Heroes of the Storm World Championship at BlizzCon 2015—more details to come.

Taiwan Championship Tournament

  • Four teams from the Taiwan qualifiers will advance to the Taiwan Championship Tournament where the top team will qualify for the Heroes of the Storm World Championship at BlizzCon 2015—more details to come.

World Championship at BlizzCon -- Tournament Format

A total of eight teams will participate in the Heroes of the Storm World Championship at BlizzCon 2015: 2 teams from America, 2 from Europe, 2 from China, 1 from Korea, and 1 from Taiwan. These teams will face-off in group stages until only four remain. Once the final four teams have been determined, they will battle it out in a single-elimination bracket until the first Heroes of the Storm world champions are crowned.
