GSL 2011 Sponsorship Season 1 Has Begun!

After three open seasons in 2010, the Global StarCraft II League is moving to a new format with even more tournaments in 2011. But before we get to what's coming next, we’d like to congratulate the 2010 GSL Season 3 champion: Min-Chul “oGsMC” Jang. Thanks to his incredible skill and creative strategies, oGsMC's protoss forces dominated the battlefield against opponent TSL_Rain's terran army.

GOM TV is kicking off the new year with the GSL 2011 Sponsorship Season 1, matching 64 top players (as determined through the three previous open seasons) against one another in the season opener. The first GSL Sponsorship season will run from January 2 through January 29, but remember, if you miss any of the live games (or want to check out some earlier matches from Season 3), you can catch up on all of the action at http://www.gomtv.net.

I set up an account at gomtv to watch the videos only to find out that you have to purchase a season ticket to watch the videos. Go to www.sc2rep.com. There you can download videos for free and watch to heart's content.

@Metalfingers: you can only access the streams ~10min before the show starts which is at like 1am (pst). you also have to download gom player. to watch vod you have to buy a ticket.

@WhiteFang: I agree there should be 2v2 tourneys, Or some hybrid of 1v1 with 2 ppl on each side (there was an old SC1 setup that allowed 2 ppl to be on one side that i thought was pretty nice)

@WhiteFang: there is going to be a 2v2 gsl, The GSTL.
"GSTL will take place in Feb right after GSL Season 4. 8 teams will compete for 15,000,000 KRW (about $13,000 USD). Teams are chosen based on all the points added by how many GSL Code S / A players belong to the team. "
