Galaxy Archives: Heaven's Devils

Over the years, many stories have unfolded in the StarCraft universe. Here in the Galaxy Archives we'll be taking a few brief glimpses at the books that depict many of these epic StarCraft adventures.

Today, we're taking a look at one of the most recently published books -- StarCraft II: Heaven's Devils, written by William C. Dietz, in which we're immersed in the legendary Guild Wars.

We follow in the footsteps of a young Jim Raynor after he lands in the middle of a warzone under attack by the Kel-Morian Combine. It isn’t long before we see our favourite hero assuming leadership and earning himself some promotions within the Confederacy’s ranks.

We also meet another character well-known to StarCraft fans: Tychus Findlay. When he and Raynor meet, we witness the forging, perhaps in an unexpected way, of an enduring friendship between the veteran marine and the up-and-coming leader.

But it doesn't stop there. Amid the chaos of war comes betrayal and questionable deeds. It is due to these cruel circumstances that a group is formed that will live long in legend: Heaven's Devils.

How will Jim and this notorious squad react to their discovery of systematic corruption within the Confederacy's ranks? And what are the effects of the "neural resocialisation" carried out on violent criminals after they had fought in the war?

All in all, StarCraft II: Heaven's Devils shows us some defining moments in the stories of major characters in a world that was still free of the zerg threat.
