Recent StarCraft II Account Suspensions

We recently issued a new round of account suspensions and bans to StarCraft II players who were in violation of the Battle.net Terms of Use for cheating and/or using hack programs while playing. In addition to undermining the spirit of fair competition that’s essential to play on Battle.net, cheating and hacking can lead to stability and performance issues with the service.

As always, maintaining a stable, safe, and secure online-gaming experience for legitimate players is a top priority for us, and we'll be continuing to keep watch on Battle.net and take action as needed.

GJ Blizzard!!
I remember a game where a kid (had to be a kid or a very immature player) told me "I hack so don't try to do win over me!" It was very funny to kick is ... with my zealots! I didn't knew at that time that hacking was possible on SCII :(

Just wondering how this works, but what happens when you are a suspect of hacking?

Why don´t you add a special tab in b.net to see their usernames.

I just hope no innocent person gets banned, I've heard of it happening before. Blizzard should be very careful.

@KingArthas: As is true with any level of punishment, there will always be innocents that get punished and offenders that get away. As you change the level of strictness you change the ratio of innocents getting punished to offenders getting off free.

I suspect that Blizzard is more likely to let more offenders free than to punish innocents. The level of bad feelings from customers is reduced that way.

Good work Blizzard, you banned about 1/4th of the hack users. What about the rest such as pay2use and external hacks?

Seems curiously timed... With PlayStation network going down for a week just now...
There's a bunch of stuff on it, just Google it. If you need a link though. http://www.cnn.com/video/data/2.0/video/bestoftv/2011/04/27/exp.mxp.playstation.hackers.hln.html

@Kynth: I don't think its the same people responsible for the PSN hack. That stuff was serious like info leakage like addresses and emails and all. But this is just like cheating, like maphacks on multiplayer, still important to stop though. But they also had external reasons for the PSN job they wanted revenge on how Sony jailed one of their members or something. Great job blizzard.

@Kynth: The Playstation Network/Qrocity explotion was most likely Anonymous. Which if you didn't know, are a group of internet vigilantes. Sometimes they do really good things but most of the time they just attempt to screw things up. The reason they exploited these Sony related services is because Sony filed a lawsuit against the original PS3 hacker, George Hotz. Anonymous has obviously denied this because of the size and severity of this hack, but it is most likely them.

@Burritoman: Anon only attacked sony's website. Sony in turn shut down their network to prevent further damage and blamed it on anon. Someone else got the info. Anon doesn't harm the innocent.

Thank you Blizzard.

I have been watching my replays a lot recently and have had two games where the other player does a beeline straight to your base when you are at diagonals on a really big map. I studied the replays and could not see them looking at dark but my guess is that they had some sort of hack going. Good to see blizzard getting rid of this kind of thing that only ruins the game.

Reading this, I'm a little conflicted on what to do. I finally made silver and made it to first. This Morning I find out i'm second, No big deal, its just that the player/s who top the spot wasn't even in the top 8 yesterday and all of sudden he has played a ton of games. The weirdest thing is, going through his match history from weeks back his games don't go above 10mins. Do I report his specious behavior or just forget about it and chalk it up to a cheesy player with to much time on his hands?

@kornbeaner: Unless you have some type of proof, I wouldn't report it. Sometimes will blast out a bunch of games and jump ahead. He may have a big pool. It does suck, when someone pushes you down but that doesn't mean they're cheating.

@Canehdn: its not getting pushed out that is bugging me, that's the way the game goes I get that. But this guys wasn't even top 8 yesterday all of sudden he's way above all of the top 8 players. I'm more suspicious of his match history, I went through a bunch of his games going back a month and none of his games lasted more then 10 minutes. I know quick matches can take place, but to have a majority of your match go less than 10 minutes, while blasting ahead of everybody, almost seems like he found a way to boost (cheat boosting) his way to top. Either way I don't care, it doesn't reflect on my skills as a player, I just want the boards to be legit, I hate seeing hackers and cheaters on leaderboards. No proof just very suspicious.

@kornbeaner: Not suspicious at all actually. He is most likely just rushing/all-ins in his games and wins by either catching his opponent off guard or loses because he can't transition out of it. 10 minutes would fit that time frame just fine.

@kornbeaner: He's prob just a Port farmer man or just has an alt account, talk to people in his match history and see if they can watch the replays for you.

PS: study your replays after you matches there are still alot of hackers out there man.

@RaveTemplar: I didn't think of that actually, that would explain why he has 100+ wins. That makes sense, glad I didn't report him. But going by his match history he is one cheesy player. O'well to each their own.
