Season 3 Begins

The third StarCraft II League season has begun! Bonus pools and standings have been reset, and Season 2 milestones have been awarded. To see your Season 2 results, simply hop in-game and head on over to the Leagues and Ladders section.

The launch of Season 3 also brings 10 new maps to the ladder pool. You can learn more about these new maps here. For a full list of ladder pool changes, head on over to the official forums.

Don't forget: The hidden skill ratings used for matchmaking and league placement have carried over, so that means if you were already placed in a league prior to the Season 2 lock, you'll only need to play one placement match to kick off the new season.

I haven't played in months (didn't play in season 2) and did season 3 placement game (one game) lost horribly yet I was placed gold. This seems... wrong... shouldn't i be like bronze?

Your league placement is a joke. When I see diamond players in bronze league, killing lower tiered players you haven't done your job.

Would 3 people for 4s like to team up (gold and +) cuz i got jipped this season i was gols last season and this season i got bronze.Even tho i was the best player in the game but everyone else sucked so it made me bronze so if you would like to halp me comment and add me as a friend thx.

Dont feel bad I think Husky or some other well know SC2 commentator is Bronze but is in Diamond or higher everything else. Im also in bronze but this will be my first full season since I bought the game.

I've seen this thread so many times... how do I get to the next level? I'm no expert but have jumped from bronze to gold in 3 seasons. For me it's been a early rush after a fast build . never stop making scv's, probes or drones in the beginning. It seems that they want a good win percentage, expansion and constant training of fighters. I've been so frustrated being bronze, then silver, but keep playing gold and plat in even games??? wtf?? If your going up against higher ranked players often...your being considered and tested. Just my opinion

I didn't play any ladder matches in season 2 due to being very busy at work, but played a lot back in season 1. Now in season 3 I had to play a full 5 matches to re-place. Is this a bug or intended behavior? Has my MMR been reset because I didn't play that one necessary match in season 2? That would...kind of suck...

@Amras: No, they make you do 5 because they don't have any info from the previous season on you. Without that info, one placement match isn't enough. With 5 they can more accurately place you. Your MMR should be fine.
