PayPal for Diablo III and Battle.net

PayPal for Diablo III and Battle.net

We're pleased to announce that in most regions, PayPal will be our payment-service partner for the Diablo III auction house, allowing players who trade with real-world currency the ability to cash out the spoils of their battle-torn adventures via a PayPal account.

PayPal will also soon be added in several regions as a payment option on Battle.net, providing another convenient and secure payment method for digital purchases of Blizzard products and services.

We’ll share region-related specifics, as well as further details on everything mentioned above, in the near future.  Stay tuned!

The auction house is used to sell and purchase items with gold or real money. However, you cannot purchase items with real money in hardcore mode, just gold.

That being said, what are half of these posts about? This has been going on outside of the game for nearly a decade. They have just made it easier for sellers to sell, and buyers to buy.
Remember the days of SOJ, Chipped Gem & runes as currency? Do you honestly prefer that over this new system?

Quit raging if you have absolutely no clue what you are talking about.

My biggest worry would NOT be if I decided to spend real money for an object, weapon, or whatever? My worry is that I haven't even seen the game, so until that happens and I know what I am getting, or at least know what I will need I'm not spending a thing except the cost of the game. But I will buy the game. The option to buy an item is NOT a deterrent to the game, it's just that an option, and I look forward to it.

If you don't like this system, then don't use it. You aren't being forced. Plus, all items will be balanced so no one will PTW.

I don't know about anybody else here but I'm about to spend $60+ on a PC game. Why would I spend more money on virtual items? I'm going to get my money's worth by spending time on the game and EARNING my items instead of taking food out of my families mouth to help me get ahead on a game. If I can still earn the weapons that I want then thats what I'll do. I'm also glad that Blizzard is keeping the Diablo tradition of playing the game for free online. Thats why I don't play WOW.

I think some people are missing the point. You will still be able to grind for what you want or if you don't want to use real money then you can go buy it. Yes, I agree that the people spending real money will have better gear faster but in the end it's not the only way to do it. I would like to point out for anyone who has played "Eve Online" that you have been able to use RL money to buy stuff but once you get to a certain point you don't need to do that anymore because your cash flow is high.

Just a thought really.

This is good news.

You can still experience all content normally, or buy items if you want to.

I don't know about you all, but I have a full time job. I'd rather spend $15 to get a new axe or something for my barbarian, than spend 10-15 hours grinding to get it.

My time is worth more than $1 an hour.

@DMHorst: I'm glad we have the same mindset as I am. Spending a fraction of your allowance is not as bad what you might think. Would you spend of 8-16 hours farming and sacrifice your $100-150 income per day?

Others will bash this new system. Me, I could care less.

Okay, let me guess. It's not gonna happen in TW region. TW region's got nothing but ball sucking Chinese voices. I'll still purchase the NA edition, period.

I will not be getting D3.

i truly dont understand why people are complaining about teh "real money" AH in D3. do none of you f*ck-!@#$% not rememebr that after abotu a year and a half of d2 and LOD being on the shelves, countless websites popped up, selling gear and gold? what about teh asian farmers, who playing for countless hours, being paid BY A COMPANY to find gear, so they can SELL IT FOR REAL MONEY on their websites. for those who dont rememebr this, you are probably 12.. stop playing videos games for 10 mins and read an F'ing book

the auction house is not that big of a deal.

I guess if you're going to prostitute yourself, do so in a big way. I knew this would eventually happen, but I really didn't want to see it. But then, it's more Activision than Blizzard, so que sera.

Wow I didn't knew there was so much Paypal hate.

I personally like it really, it's a great system and they try to improve by the day.

Anyway I support the real money action house because micro transaction practically are the main entry for mmo companies in general AND MORE IMPORTANTLY the CHINESE would probably have ruined the game like any other game they touch.

Why you don't say it's unfair when you can get money out of it FOR YOUR OWN benefit :D

Guys, this isn't a competitive MMO like WoW. So long as everything is attainable in-game via in-game money, I fail to see the problem in letting people pay to move more quickly in what is essentially a single-player to small-group game.

Buying your way to the top of non-competitiveness? If its not competitive, who cares? "OMG That guy had to pay for his gear! Lifes unfair! I can't talk to girls! I'm going to cry in a corner!"

@Tensai: if it isnt about competitiveness why do you care?

i have seen this as a great way for players that play and get rewarded for it.

This will happen regardless of whether blizzard wants it or not, if they put it in, its going to be much safer, and legal. and they make money on the side as well.

How incredibly disappointing. Another game where your money in real life determines how good you can be in-game. Consider this the last straw that causes me to never play a Blizzard game again.
