GSL Blizzard Cup

The players have been chosen. The stage has been set. Featuring some of the biggest names in StarCraft II eSports, GOMtv is concluding a very exciting year of tournaments with the 2011 GSL Blizzard Cup!

Based on major tournament results, the top 10 players of 2011 have been split into two groups of five to play each other to see who can rise to the top. After one round of group play, the top three performers from each group will be placed into brackets based on their record. The final six players will then battle it out for the right to call themselves the GSL 2011 Champion.

Group A:

  • Park “DongRaeGu” Soo Ho (zerg) – Playing for team MVP, DongRaeGu was the winner of IEM VI – GC New York.
  • Jung “Mvp” Jong Hyun (terran) – Hailing from team Incredible Miracle, Mvp has qualified on three separate occasions for this event. He’s the current points leader in GSL rankings, the BlizzCon 2011 Champion, and the winner of the 2011 World Cyber Games.
  • Jang “MC” Min Chul  (protoss) – From both oGs and SK Gaming, MC has won his fair share of events, and is currently the third place points leader in the GSL.
  • Ilyes “Stephano” Satouri  (zerg) – Millenium’s golden boy, Stephano was the winner of IGN ProLeague 3.
  • Song “HerO” Hyeon Deok  (protoss) – Rounding out the group, from Team Liquid, HerO was the winner of DreamHack Winter 2011.
     

Group B:

  • Lim “NesTea” Jae Duk (zerg) – Also from team Incredible Miracle, NesTea completed the GSL season second overall in the point rankings.
  • Moon “MMA” Sung Won (terran) – Representing team SlayerS, MMA completed the GSL season fourth overall in the point rankings.
  • Johan “NaNiwaLucchesi (protoss) – Quantic Gaming’s newest member, NaNiwa was the runner-up at 2011 MLG Providence.
  • Lee “Leenock” Dong Nyung (zerg) – A young member of FXOpen e-Sports, Leenock was the 2011 MLG Providence Winner.
  • Choi “Polt” Sung Hoon (terran) – Rounding out Group B, from Team SCV Life, Polt held the fifth and final qualifying position in the GSL points race.
