BlizzCon 2010 StarCraft II Tournament: It's Coming!

BlizzCon is a celebration of epic games, a gathering place for our community from across the globe, and also the definitive place to see the greatest competitive matches in the world as the top pro players go head to head both in the World of Warcraft Arena and in Warcraft III. With the launch of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, we feel it’s high time to expand that set list -- BlizzCon 2010 will play home to a 16-player StarCraft II invitational tournament!

Top players from each region's ladder will be invited to compete against each other to prove who truly rules the Koprulu Sector and to see who will take home part of a prize pool worth over $40,000.

those are top 2 in each region to join blizzcon invitation tournament and they had been in final for their regional invitaion tournament.

Maybe if there's LAN lag at the tourney then blizzard will finally add real lan play. MLG DC was seriously painful to watch sometimes with players dealing with lag at a fing lan party.

Brad, its invitational, the top players from each regions ladder, unless your diamond 1 or in some other pro league don't expect an invitation

how do you sign up for preliminaries of these tournaments (blizzcon or otherwise) or is it based on the ranking system? Because i am in diamond, but cant really compete with the number of games many of the players around me play, so i am having trouble getting to top of my league. I am interested in playing people of pro level to see how i would stack up but cant seem to find local tournaments.

Damn im good im a gold player on one accnt 1v1 but i still got a long way to go man i love this game i cant wait for the epansions so terran will get its goliaths back and zerg get its lurkers and that leviathan

@ Jane: Yeah, that is right the spirit of a gamer! I played games fron NES, SNES, PS, PC, PS2... Unforgetable games were: Secret of Mana, Secret of Evermore, Terranigma, Dune II, FF VII, Command Conquer, Starcraft, Diablo, Dungeon Keeper, Warhammer: Dark Omen, Warcraft 1&2&3... I love them all! I hope I can play SC V or VI with 57 ages. ^_<!

@Neko: you'll be lucky to have SC3 come out by the next 13 years as it took blizz that long to notice how good SC1 is to make SC2

@soulreaper: starcraft 2 wont come out anytime soon because there are the xpansion packs, and it will take blizz at least 5 years to ake SC3 after the last expansion

NEKO, You are not too old to play and win, I'm 57 and been a gamer since PONG hit the monitor. The only problem you have is beating me....Ha ha ha... Hang in the Neko, it's never too late...NEVER.

It's a pity that I'm already 25 years old and have to work on working days. When I was a student, I didn't have money for the original game with the CD-key (Starcraft 1 & Warcraft 3).
Now I have the original game but have no time (and maybe too old). (T_T)
I will buy original games for my children!!! :))

@ShadowDragon: it's not that much money as that's the total prize pool and it's the top of the top. Avg pro gamers in America don't really make much money and playing Starcraft all day is stressful and takes a toll on your mind + body.

Why are there no static ground defenses for terran, zerg,such as bunkers with seige tanks, sunken colonies, and not much for protoss?

@DeadeyeJAC: You must have just completely forgot out your cannons. Your cannons do the same thing a spore crawler and a spine crawler do all in one building. This means you can hit air and ground for less minerals then all the races. I would say your defensive buildings are one of the best in the game, besides planetary fortress.
