Playing Zerg is difficult for first time users but they have always been that way. If you practice with them against the A.I. you'll be fine just have to put in a bit of time and find your pattern.

Um..Nytephantom...not everyone has the time to devote so much time into a game >.< It should be made a little easier for casual players like myself whom do not want to spend all her free time just to get decent at the game. The zerg in particular..they are the most interesting team in this game..for if you want men with guns or big hgh tech machines there are plenty of other RTS >.>..but zerg are just not casual gamer friendly..they need a boost..and you jugding people for seeing that..and in such a rude way..just makes you seem childish. >.>

@Meryle: This is not a casual game. If you want to get good at this game, you WILL have to practice and learn over time. Zerg do not need a boost just because they "are just not casual gamer friendly". Normally I don't take part in the pointless bickering about "casuals", but you can't tell someone who understands that this game takes practice that he is in the wrong. Sure he could have been a bit nicer, but that is really how things are these days.

And the people who don't have "the time to devote so much time into a game" probably shouldn't have a voice in how the multiplayer in this game is affected.

@Tobaz: oh alright..I guess you have to be someone who devotes all thier free time to games to be allowed to have an opinion >.> sorry..but I would just like to see it as a balanced game that anyone who buys it could enjoy, and not just game fanatics. Its not much to ask for..

@Meryle: Personally I believe it is a balanced game. There is the different difficulty ratings for this. Everyone is different and has their own skill level. When it comes to multiplayer gaming it's a bit different, just like in any game or sport there will always be someone better, whether they spend a lot of time on the games or not. But as for criticizing each other, that can be left out. Play for fun!

@Meryle: You can be a casual player and enjoy the game all you have to do is stick to bronze division or VS. AI easy-mode where you belong. The whole game isnt going to change because you want it to be easier.

the only real problem with the void rays (coming from a toss player) is that they retain their charge once they move targets, instead of losing it once they move on, which can lead to some power issues. im not too sure if this can be fixed, or is intended. also, this game isnt lactose free. cheese is part of the strategy, and if your not prepared for it, too bad.

void rays were in beta, void ray rush is easily beaten, and it is not o/p. people who are crying about it didn't scout and didn't prepare for it. if you aren't attacked in the first 10-15 minutes you can expect either a drop, air attack, or something involving more tech or a large army. if you haven't attacked in this time you should be prepared for anything. void rays especially ez to defend with terran improved turrets, and the ability to scan bases for super easy scouting.

This post is sad in a way. Just shows how ppl expect to be handed things now. "Oh, it's hard. Fix the void rays." "Fix the zerg. They are beating me." "I've only played for five minutes, but it's too hard. Make it easier 'cuz it's not fair." Wah, wah, wah. I've never played an RTS before this one. I suck. But I learn from every game and I'm gradually getting better (i.e., not getting beat as badly or as quickly...well, mostly.) How do you expect to be as good as someone who has played SC for 10 years? Instead of crying, put some time into the game, more than a week, and try to learn the game. Yes, it takes time and patience, but I guess that's too hard for some of you. Sad....

Agreed, Void Rays are overpowered. I scream IMBA! they instapopp anything and everything once they at full charge, and they might lose one before they get to max damage. zerg doesnt have cheap anti air, like marines to get instapopped while they dwindle void ray numbers. you can mass mutas but its not cost effective and because you are rushing to mutas to fight rays, youl only have one hatchery which means massing is not easy. void rays. imba

@GrimCrow: It's called tacitcs try them, I used to get raging mad about double terran putting out two reapers each and then rushing me. Once I finally calmed down and thought about it I came up with an idea which was to put assimilators on all there vespene gas if I could right at the beginning of the game. It takes away there gas and the ability to make reapers for the first 5 minutes or so. Sure it slows me down but them too as well. Void ray rush is easy to counter especially as zerg. How about getting some hydras and running some lings in early to see what the heck is going on. Sure you will need to micro some but you will prevail in the end with sheer numbers and the toss player will done if he totally commits to the void ray. As I said tactics.........

@GrimCrow: build 2 hatches get a queen and after owning their rays w/ ur mutas go atk theyre workers. if ur terran go mass rines or for all three race build defense structures. Im a toss player and so I know the counters to rays so I know wen to back out if someone has them. starcraft is great for this reason no 1 tactic can overpower everyone.

So, where is the build order strategy for a Terran player defending against the overpowered Void Ray Rush. That's what I want to see. Void Rays shouldn't have been made with a charge up attack. Either that, or they should have been limited to air only.

@Vonsinious: +1 to you, good sir. I concur. I void rush, like a bad person, about every other game, and oh god, do I hate marines. A ton of those d00ds and my void ray harass of your SCVs just doesn't work properly. OP, try those.

@Havok: Dude, two Air to Air units!? That means no Air to Dround until Carriers and Motherships, neither are cheap, I play. Multiplayer against Protoss so I can test strategies against void rays, I only void rushed once, that time I was playing with a n00b, like me, I overran him, I had like twenty void rays, and I lost half, he had a gigillion photons, and he was on a cramped island, and had a lot of pylons powering them, he nearly took the void rays out, he also took out my mothership, I also had a warp prison ready to phase in some DTs, hetook that out first, ruining most of my plan, he also made me almost retreat, so if you get anti air defences early you will by yourself time to get sme marines or hydras in there.

Um, why are balance issues being addressed as a matter of faith in this thread?? Let's step back from the "I believe..." statements and jump to things like rationality and logic, please. The game is so new that it couldn't possibly be balanced... it doesn't take a diamond league player to see that. Add to that the possibility that Activision pushed Blizz to release early, and well... let's just say the in game menus are glitchy to the point that my 2v2 ranking is displayed as either 0th or 376th, depending on which menu you're looking at, lol. And yes, many others are experiencing such a problem, not to mention other strange menu behavior. And no, I did not use my CD as a coaster before I installed : ) . imho (a super humble bronze league opinion at that), the very idea that all 3 races are already perfectly balanced is just ludicrous. Just try to understand how much of an undertaking SC2 balance would be if you were Blizz... did you see how many people were listed in the credits?? lol, we are talking about entire buildings of designers, programmers, artists, etc trying to balance quite possibly the most hyped up game of all time for quite possibly the most analytical people on the face of the planet, lol... and we're talking about a LOT of people. Then, just TRY to grasp how many different mechanics there are to be dealt with... a game with only 1 race would be hard enough, but introduce 2 more races and you've got a rather fiersome challenge ahead of you. Balance is still the shining light at the end of a Diablo style generated dungeon, filled with all kinds of dangerous monsters... and Blizz is just in it for the SOJ, man... haha, jk. SC2 is still tons of fun and more than playable, it just needs a few years under its belt before "perfection" is achieved.

11 years in the making. no excuses. fix it blizzard. 11 years. i've seen games balanced within a year of their release and were only a couple years in the making. so maybe 3 years to make and balance a game. 11 years.. its dissapointing.

@GrimCrow: six years in the making, it was started shortly after wciii frozen throne, which is 2004, six years, blizzard also makes it's mistakes, like everyone else, they want you to choose a style, and nerf it so you can adapt and become more flexible, then nerf that, until the game is perfect, or at least close enough.

anyone have any advice for 3v3 when playing as zerg?
on a team with two terrans. usually up against protoss and terrans.
i realize it'd be a good idea to expand quickly and be more defensive
with less kamikaze-style tactics. but it seems like my defenses are never enough o.o;?
