2012 Season 4 Has Begun

The new StarCraft II League season has arrived! At this time, Season 8 (2012 Season 3) milestones have been awarded and bonus pools and standings have been reset. Hidden skill ratings used for matchmaking and league placement have carried over from the previous season, so players who have completed placement matches in a previous season will only need to play one new placement match to kick off the new season.

Don’t forget to review the changes to the official ladder and keep in mind that Grandmaster League will start next week.

Has the tier system removal not been implemented yet in the new season? The system setup looks the same as last season. The tier system removal sounds like something that would need to be included in a patch.

@josh: same thing is happening to me and my buddy on 2v2, we've gone 4-1 and we haven't been placed. Plus it said we only needed to do one placement match.... it's freakin retarded

Hey everyone, in my experience blizzards mmr system can be pretty glitchy. It's natural to get frustrated, but like others have said eventually if you skill is consistent enough. Last season I had the highest points in the diamond division and still did not get promoted to masters. I ended up still playing and eventually got promoted so just keep at it. Especially low leaguers, there is so much for you to improve I'm sure you will get promoted if you just learn the basics of the game :)

I have played 2 3v3 games already and it still says I need to play one placement match to determine blah blah.... I played all last season and was bronze. each time it said I needed to play one game, i've played 2 already what gives?

I had massive lag too, it cleared up 5 minutes after
but Start of game it was HORRIBLE.
Chat was delayed for like 15 seconds.

can you do something about the lag? i lost all of my placement matches tonight specifically because the lag was so terrible i couldnt execute any commands in a cohesive manner, let alone micro units.

@Warpig: I find That to be untrue. After playing 12 games and winning 10, I then started in a silver league with 0 points. I put in a ticket and just hope for the best cause this has made me rage hard I admit.

I dont know why people are complaining about there placement and being drop from one league to another i was gold got dropped to silver within 2 games i was ranked 1 in gold just get on your game and you should go back to the league you were in last season if you are fit to be in that league. QUIT CRYING!!!!!!

@ThAsinineOne: I suppose very important because I had over 800 points and rank 2 in the last season and I lost my placement match and didn't get into diamond so I think its important.

@ThAsinineOne: The purpose of the placement match at the beginning of each season is to weed out any inactive players. Otherwise, it is just like any other match you would play during the season. Your MMR will still carry over from last season, unless you were inactive for an entire season.

I have placed two placement matches 1v1 and I receive no points for them...so it still says i need to play a placement...anyone have this problem? or know what i could do...i have a ticket open but...who knows how long that will take

@Digitoxin: If you havnt placed within the last two seasons your MMR score will reset and it will take 5 placement matchs to be placed you will recieve no points for these matchs, however if you where placed last season then it should only take one match will award no points to be placed. anything else i would submit a ticket. have a good day
