Cheating in StarCraft II

Cheating in StarCraft II

Blizzard Entertainment has always taken cheating in any form in Blizzard games very seriously, and that's no different for StarCraft II. If a StarCraft II player is found to be cheating or using hacks or modifications in any form, then as outlined in our end user license agreement, that player can be permanently banned from the game. This means that the player will be permanently unable to log in to Battle.net to play StarCraft II with his or her account.

Playing StarCraft II legitimately means playing with an unaltered game client. Doing otherwise violates our policies for Battle.net, and it goes against the spirit of fair play that all of our games are based on. We strongly recommend that you avoid using any hacks, cheats, or exploits. Suspensions and bans of players that have used or start using cheats and hacks will begin in the near future.

Does the 4v4 leaving thing to get a win/loss record count as cheating, it's not blatent cheating, like hacking a unit to make it deal more damage, but is cheating in that it's not a real W/L representation and has no basis in real skill.

@PraoWolf: I always report people for this, it's the easiest thing to see as a player. Just go to their match history, and if they are ending a 4v4 every few minutes then it's obvious. When I report I say, "Leaves 4v4 League games, obvious match history."

@PraoWolf: agreed, ppl ditch and leave, kills the real players screws up the game.

the list of things that should be done to people who use hacks or cheats in pvp is too long to put on this board. i've used cheats on games since nintento, but only to do a walk-through on the game that have given me the most challenge. but i alway's run through the game "clean" as well, that's where the challenge and fun come into play. i NEVER use hacks or cheats to battle another player, it's boring if you can't lose. (and i do all the time, lol) DEATH TO ALL HACKERS!!!

@Nommocnu: Yea I do the same, play the game clean first time through, so I get a "true" experience. Then yea, if it's a hard part or whatever I'll get a walkthru or a cheat or something, but on something like SC2 which is really about your skill. I'd rather no cheating so our true skill in playing SC2 is represented.

Losing is a part of your life, if you can't handle losing once, then you haven't really lived, because it's losing that shows you the weaknesses in your game and once you have the weaknesses covered, you begin to win.... =)

@Turkeyofmars: they made it so you cant get achievements while using cheat codes, and by cheats they mean hacks or a program to help them

It would be pretty epic if Blizzard actually banned the hackers in this game. Also - why would anyone ever play World of WaCraft when you can just play EVE Online ?

@SerosKal: I've played Eve Online, and theres a big differance between the two games, and it has nothing to do with one being in space and the other fighting goblins and dragons. It's the fact Eve is uberly boring, awesome at first, and fun in small doses. First time you lose a prized ship you notice how horrible Eve online really is.

I used to know someone in The original StarCraft who hacked but didnt use them in 1 v 1s 2 v 2s etc why would you ban them permanently
Login to rate
@ZergHunter: @ZergHunter: Well in the game even if you're only playing against computers and using hacks, you can still get achievements you otherwise wouldn't have been able to get; which is unfair for other people who worked hard to get their achievements. I do agree it is a little bit harsh, but you have to draw the line somewhere.
