Heart of the Swarm Video: Ways to Play
In our second StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm preview video, Community Manager Cloaken takes a look at some of the many ways that players may choose to explore the coming expansion, its new campaign, game modes, and other features.
StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm is coming on March 12. You can avoid the (Zerg) rush on launch day by pre-purchasing the game digitally on Battle.net today.

It's nice and all, don't get me wrong.
I binge. I literally only play 1 game at a time, and dump a majority of spare time into that game. For the past several months it has been SC2. Before that I wasted countless hours on League of Legends.
Part of the reason why I quit playing League of Legends is that the ladder/ranking system sucked. If you divide the game up into competitive-custom and ranked, you are basically creating the same !@#$ty system that League of Legends did with Draft and Ranked. Ranked games are going to blow cuz the match making isn't going to be up to par. You don't want the majority of people to be playing custom games. If you throw a title like "ranked" on a button it's going to freak kids out and then custom games are then gonna have %^-*ty match making. The only good thing I can see about the custom games is that you can play more races easier. Part of the commitment to starcraft tho is about choosing what race you want to play and sticking with it.
IMO, the most popular mode needs to definitely be the "Quick Match" game mode. Sorry if this offends anyone but I hate single player, and lame custom games. I've only played like 4 or 5 missions of WoL and that was only when the servers would be down for a short period of time (which isn't often, so you can see how often im on playing). 99.9% of my time i sink into multiplayer quick match (2's or 4's mostly, 3's people dont team fight as well). The only thing I really wish was that some of the maps available on custom games were available on quick match. It seems like they have way cooler maps sometimes. I think some upgrades need to be done to the 2v2, 3v3, and 4v4 maps in terms of texture quality and ambient detail from the quick match list. Even though some of the maps are cooler I've still only played a total of 2 or 3 custom games in my entire life. Custom games needs to be for kids who need to just practice a build or something, or who are fiending some kind of map mod, but that should just be placed in the arcade or something. Maybe Arcade and Custom games should be combined or something. Idk i just know I got some big ideas on how to really fix this game if you really want my brain to tweak it.
I'm really close to getting 750 wins with zerg, and I was going to try and make it to 1k but now it just seems pointless? Will portraits still carry over to the new expansion? I may just end up quitting SC2 because I'm really not in the mood to throw another $60 into an "expansion" with missions that i'm not going to play anyway. You want a real expansion? Throw a $20 price tag on it and make it available online or in stores. Don't create a new campaign and think that every customer is going to care about it. The #1 reason i'm playing a Multiplayer game in the first place is to play with other people. That's all I ever wanted from Starcraft was a good Quick Match/ Multiplayer platform with good match making.
In my opinion, I believe that Blizzard did a B- job in providing . The initial direction of the SC2 improved upon the phrase "Easy to learn, hard to master." Campaign levels, Casual Difficulty as well as Challenge mode/Challenger map, and your leagues provide organized path to mastering SC2.
I do not give it an A because Blizzard should have implemented all these changes from the start. I do not give it a C because Blizzard is willing to change and improve the gaming experience on SC2. (If you want source, I can provide)
Boss.
Perfection.
And there is still LOTV left!
