Why is their no chat rooms in the new Bnet? That was one of the best things about Bnet

But, do you REALLY want chat rooms?
edit: i should also say that this is a known issue and something they said they'd patch into the game later. There was already a huge uproar about it during beta (just search my original comment). |

Chat channels are something that will be added in a patch sometime after the initial release. The system will be based around groups, where you will be able to join public channels that are based around your interests. Also the system will include private chat channels (in plans for release in the first few months after the release), where you will be able to connect with your friends.

I believe that would fall under the 'Custom Map' section now.
But yea...I was pretty disappointed with the BNet setup. I ever named my guy thinking that was just the broad profile name for my campaign and wouldn't carry over to my BNet Multiplayer name. Now I imagine it's stuck this way! |

Yeah, and here I was trying to see if any of my old buddies from War3 etc. were on, but no... I have to know their RealID to do anything, which is useless since NOBODY knows that crap right now...
At least the game is fun as hell so far, even if the story seems a little lacking so far... |

Channels and clans will be great :)

yeah an online game without chat channel kinda seems :\ unfinished, but since there's a blue post saying will be added, so... we'll just wait, and support bliz :D yay!! SC2's over 9000!!

There were huge screaming rage fights about this on the forums all through beta. After the 1000+ post thread, they finally decided to "take it under review" that maybe people would want chat. The IDEA of them doing chat is an improvement, at this point.
They want people to do their networking elsewhere, realistically. (Facebook, forums, etc.) it's been an ongoing point of contention. |
