Balance Patch, New Test Map, and Daedalus Fix

We’d like to make a small balance patch this week in order to help address PvT concerns, as well as implement a small fix for Daedalus point. Of the changes we’ve tested so far, we feel ready to make the Time Warp and EMP changes right now, but we’ll continue testing other changes as well in case we need to make further adjustments.

We’ll try our best to make these changes within a week:
- Time Warp cost increased from 75 to 100

- Ghosts start with the energy upgrade built in

- Make the natural expansion ramp smaller on Daedalus Point.


Here are a few things we’d like to continue testing on a new balance test map:
- We’d like to try out a sight range nerf to the Mothership Core, as commonly requested by the community. We also believe this could be a really solid direction if the Time Warp and EMP changes aren’t enough.

- We’d still like to include a Hydralisk buff (but not as big as the current one we’re testing) of some sort for two reasons: To bring more Hydras into play in ZvZ as well as help Roach/Hydra to be more viable vs. Terran.

- Late game PvZ in Europe is something we’d still like to look into testing/addressing. Looking at games in Korea, we’d still like to keep testing the Tempest change and not touch Swarm Hosts themselves if we can.

Awesome! Especially your comments about roach/hydra, the MSC, and PvZ.

I do think it will be extremely challenging to make roach/hydra viable in TvZ simply to due to medivac boost though.

I have the feeling that none of these changes are going to change anything about stuff like protoss having 200 options vs terran, or late game skyterran vs zerg.

As a protoss point of view :

- Time Warp cost increased from 75 to 100

it's an ok nerf

- Ghosts start with the energy upgrade built in
it's too much ... 1st the thanks start with siege , now ghost start with energy.. what's next? hellion with blue flame? it's an upgrade and should remain the same...

- Make the natural expansion ramp smaller on Daedalus Point.

How to make hydras better.

a.) Combine their 2 upgrades into a single upgrade

b.) Just make hydras come with 6 range, and make the range upgrade give them 7 range

c.) increase the Hydra HP by 10-20 points

d.) Make it so when hydras get upgrades, they get +2 damage per upgrade, rather than only +1


Literally any of these would help make the hydra a unit that could be used and not make it such an all in unit.

The amount of stupidity in your reply is unfathomable since you are a protoss player, and a ton the maps in the pool are good for toss.

I'm sure lots of people are open to a Ghost buff, but the reason Blizzard gives is completely backwards.

Why can't Blizzard nerf MSC vision now? And then nerf it some more later when they finally realize how necessary it is?

At our level, map balance matters little, except on blatantly anti-meta maps like Daedalus Point where Speedling all-ins are currently INCREDIBLY powerful against anything standard that Protoss can do (specifically, FFE, 1-Gate expand, and Nexus first).

Why are you guys so hesitant to do something about the Swarm Host?

It's not like there's an even a small faction of the community on ANY of the major Starcraft sites begging you to keep the Swarm Host like it is.
