MarSara Mines is a dual-lane, 1v1 map. A large median cuts the map in half, preventing ground forces from easily accessing both sides of the map.
The expansion layout is tailored to support a variety of playstyles. The right lane grants aggressive builds the ability to control the middle of the map, while also making it difficult for opponents to sustain aggressive builds themselves. The left lane offers a greater number of expansions to support macro-oriented play. The distance between bases, here, allows expansions to be taken more easily.
Opting to expand along both sides is initially the safest option. However, as the game goes on, it becomes difficult to cover the amount of space needed to defend against drops and air attacks.
Split-map scenarios can occur where players hold an entire lane. Due to the vertical layout of bases, every expansion is vulnerable to an attack. Players will need to be vigilant to anticipate where the armies are moving and which attacks pose the greatest threat.
- The median is an undroppable area.
- Destructible rocks block the ramp on the left side of the map, allowing forge fast expands to be placed along the right lane’s natural.
