Window Modes
Q: What is the difference between Windowed, Windowed (Fullscreen) and Fullscreen modes?
A: Read below for the different modes
  • Windowed - the game will behave like a normal OS window that is movable and resizable.
  • Windowed (Fullscreen) - the game is still a normal OS window, however it will be same size of the screen and NOT movable and NOT resizable. In this mode the window cooperates with the OS so all OS functionality is still enabled.
  • Fullscreen - the game takes over the entire screen and it does not function as an OS window. All the OS keyboard shortcuts and mouse hot corners are disabled when in this mode.

OS Keyboard Shortcuts Option
Q: How does the "Disable OS Keyboard Shortcuts" option in the Gameplay section work?
A: The "Disable OS Keyboard Shortcuts" option in the Gameplay section will turn off keyboard shortcuts from the OS so they do not interfere with game play. This option can only be toggled in Windowed and Windowed (Fullscreen) mode. Fullscreen windowed mode always has OS Keyboard Shortcuts disabled.

Displaying FPS
Q: How do I display the FPS?
A: Control+Option+F or Command+Option+F depending on where or not you have the "Swap Control and Command Keys" option enabled.

Replays
Q: Where can I find my saved replays on my computer?
A: Replays are currently stored in the following folder:
  • Mac HD/Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Blizzard/Starcraft II/Account/(random number)/(more random numbers)/Replays

Confine Mouse Cursor
Q: How does the 'Confine Mouse Cursor' work on a Mac?
A: Read Below for more information:
  • Automatic: Mouse cursor is confined in Windowed (Fullscreen) mode and not in Window Mode.
  • On: Mouse cursor is confined in both display modes.
  • Off: Mouse cursor is not confined in either Display Modes.

  • Q: Since 1.4, there was a newer confine mouse cursor mode and an older one. Which one is used current?
A: Defaults are now as follows (the new confine mode is the method we introduced in 1.4.0):
  • In Windowed Mode, the new confine mode is used.
  • In Fullscreen Mode, the old confine mode is used. This should automatically resolve issues for most people that encountered them after 1.4.0.

  • Q: Am I able to change my confine cursor settings if I have issues?
A: Yes you can! You can refer to our post about toggling these options.

On my 2.6GH Quad-Core Xeon Mac Pro w/ 8800GT, there is a significant performance gain in Windowed(Fullscreen) over Fullscreen.

I wish there was a way to disable OS functions like hot corners in windowed mode.

This might help. It's an AppleScript you can set up to auto-disable hot corners and a second script for re-enabling the hot corners. Using Automator, you should be able to set up a quick routine to run the first script, run SC2, then run the second script when SC2 exits.

Can you explain a little more about how to actually do this with Automator? I've never set up an AppleScript before.

Rabbit, it looks like that folder has moved to ~/Library/Application Support, where it belongs and should have been in the first place. :)

Thanks for fixing that, Blizzard. Valve made the same mistake with Steam for the Mac at first, too.

We're working on getting this updated, and back to being more accurate for newer versions of our game. Pardon our dust while this is updated :)
