Blizzard is now DELETING maps forever

"Ultimate Tank Defense has been deleted from Battle.net and cannot be reuploaded again because of inapropriate content." - Sc2Mapster.com

"Blizzard never told me why it was deleted because of personal security stuff." - Cyrileo

So, that's it? People spend one month making a map, one year to make it popular, and Blizzard removes it forever in 1 minute? Mapsters will get mad.

Anyway, I have a suggestion: Blizzard should "block" the map (and popularity) and send a message to the creator explaining WHY the map was blocked. Then, the creator can fix the problem and restore the map with the same popularity.

But no, Blizzard just deletes the map forever and does not give a reason! This is just stupid.

I hope they don't ban Debates.

edit: Now Blizzard banned Nexus Word Wars:

Fairly silly. Blizzard needs to take a different approach at dealing with custom games. The system at the moment is clumsy and restrictive. I have to expand the page 4 times to find some games and then hope that they get filled by other people willing to put the same effort into finding one.

Custom games are a huge part of Blizzard's RTS game and I'd hate to see something that has enormous potential gain a bad reputation or lack of creative support because of things like this.

It takes a ton of effort to make a good custom game. Effort that ultimately benefits Blizzard and the SC2 community. Something like this is not only discouraging to the original developer but also others who are interested in producing something for SC2 UMS.

Blizzard's approach will be met with reproach.

I appreciate blizzards efforts to keep the games clean and free of vulgarity, but I agree that there should be at least a 48 hour warning that you must either re upload a non-vulgar version of the map or it will be deleted. Blizzard is doing a good thing, but I'd appreciate if they gave a heads up before they just delete your map from the server.

I don't appreciate it, except in the extreme cases of "porn maps" and the like. People will swear and say vulgar things themselves, so who cares if your map has a swear word here or there. They should stop trying to morally police the custom games (if this is really what is going on) and instead slap a disclaimer (online experience may vary) on.

I don't think they can do that since you HAVE to be online to access ANY part of the game experience.

Well, I totally agree that theres obviously alot of vulgar stuff that players say, but still... The campaign does have swearing in it.... But blizzard does need to have moderators looking for things on the maps, just like every other online game/forum/site where people can upload things has to. I dont think I'd mind them doing what they did if they had sent a warning.

I'm pretty sure you can still upload a slightly modified version (with the offending part removed).

You'd still lose the popularity rating though which of course is stupid but well the entire popularity system is bull to begin with anyways.

No he can't because his publishing rights have been removed until he drops another $60 and makes a new battle.net account.

"Game experience may change during online play". It's there for a reason.

nonono, you have it all wrong. It's not removed forever. They're going to put a blizzard logo on it and sell it as a premium map.

Wait, blizzard removed your publishing rights?? Seriously? I though you just were blocked from uploading that one map! Well, maybe its only a temporary ban. I would send them an email and just ask whats up. Im sure they will at least give you an explanation (even if it takes forever because they have like 1000 emails).

No, you cannot publish the banned map again. You have to ask a friend to post for you with another name.

Did he loose his publishing rights or not? Because thats a big deal if he suddenly was banned from all that just for a map with one semi-swear word. That would be FINE if blizzard just sent out a warning!
