Login-related issues

StarCraft II's connection button is greyed out.

If you are having issues trying to login to a StarCraft II account that you have already created; (Only lit option is “Create Account” and other buttons are greyed out) Before calling Tech Support, Please check to make sure you are entering your Battle.net email address for your account name, not your StarCraft II account name.

This has already resolved several customer’s issues.

However, if you are still having issues after entering the Battle.net email address for the account name, please contact Tech Support for further assistance.

Gameplay-related issues

  • Achievements and portraits appear black and/or have the circle load icons on them
  • Missing maps - If you're missing maps from any of the Multiplayer or Versus A.I. options, please create a new thread with the following information:
    * Are you trying this on offline mode or online?
    * How big is your cache folder?
    Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Blizzard Entertainment\Battle.net\Cache
    Windows Vista and 7: C:\ProgramData\Blizzard Entertainment\Battle.net\Cache
Keep in mind that some of these folders are hidden. You'll need to go to your Folder Options -> View tab and allow yourself to view them.

    * Did you ever have access to these maps? If you did, what was the last thing you were doing before you noticed that the maps were gone?

To fix this, do a search in the Cache folder above for all *.s2mi files and delete them.
  • Page file low and out of memory crashes may happen if the game is sandboxed or is limited by an internet security type program
  • Out of memory crashes may happen if you turn off the Windows swap file. Don't turn it off.
  • This error message may appear when starting the game: This game makes reference to mod or map dependencies which are no longer available.

e_fileCorrupt

Your StarCraft II installation is corrupt. Would you like to run the Repair tool now?

Cause #1: Permissions
Fix: Create a new user account with administrative privileges and try the game from there.

Cause#2: Corrupt temp files
Fix: hit "Windows Key" + "R" and type %temp% in the run box then hit enter. Now delete everything in the temp folder that says Blizzard or StarCraft and test the game again.

Cause #3: Other corrupted files
Fix:
1) search for and delete all SCII files from the system, so we know we have cleared off the potentially corrupted files,
2) run a diskcheck (if you have not already)
3) connect wired if you are wireless and installing from the digital download. Wireless is more likely to cause file corruption so we want to eliminate it as a potential cause.
4) restart in selective startup and install the game

If the error persists after all of that, then it is likely caused by faulty RAM.
