First off, I would like to thank Shadowwolf for inspiring this idea with his post about Hybrids being a, potentially, fully playable race. I, however, don't believe that they will ever do that...but perhaps we could get something equally interesting within the campaign?
Within WoL, we had the side Campaign in which Jim Raynor accessed Zeratul's memories via the Ihan crystal. This gave us a small slew of missions that many of us enjoyed a great deal...especially the final. That said, with HotS there is potential for a similar idea that revolves around the Hybrids instead.
While we don't know, for sure, if Kerrigan will even interact with the Hybrids in the next installment..chances of such are likely, things reaching a climax progressively throughout the three installments. With that said, the Queen of Blades has always been one to enjoy learning all about her enemies...and then using that information against them. So, perhaps we can use this to fabricate the perfect little side campaign where the player delves into the hierarchy of the Hybrids themselves!
During a Zerg mission, or optional mission, could be to slay a sighted Hybrid so that Kerrigan can access the memories of its corpse. Just imagine Kerrigan walking up to a Hybrid Reaver...gazing down upon its barely alive body, battered and torn from an overwhelming amount of Zerg that she threw against the great titan. As it growls ominously with its last breath...she plunges her clawed fist right through its skull and deep into the depths of its brain where she utilizes her powerful psionic abilities to read the memories of the abomination.
This could start a process of missions all geared around the Hybrids...both past and present.
So, if there are going to be ~20 missions in HotS, then there cannot be any choice or side-campaigns. I personally like the side-campaign concept, and the choice missions weren't bad, and I hope they put them in Heart of the Swarm. However, if they put these in, say, 4 and 3, respectively, then that leaves only ~13 missions for the main storyline. This doesn't seem like ample storytelling material...
