Redo Mothership

Has anyone seen what the old mothership could do, it was AMAZING!
If you can, try and get to the old starcraft2 site (before game release) it still does exist, once there look up the mothership page. it seems to me what happened to me is that it was too OP so they just gave the mothership a worse attack, a bigger limit on amount (from 2 to 1), and then strapped on the old arbiter stuff plus vortex. since no one uses the mothership maybe it should be made more like the old version (still only one) but make it a beast of an offensive caster like it was Any thoughts? see old momma here: http://us.starcraft2.com/features/protoss/mothership.xml P.S. its cool to look at all the old stuff on this sight like old models and the original Col atack |

Man, some of these old things. Warp rays and Phase Prisms? Twilight archons seemed powerful. Oh, how much things have changed.
Colossi without splash damage? That just seems wrong... Phoenixes without shoot while moving or graviton beam, but with the Power Overload AoE ability? Much less options for harass, much more of a specialist anti-air fighter. Also, some of the older unit designs on the other fronts. Zerg didn't have much shown, but... wow. The Reaper used to have rapid-fire pistols, and D8 charges were like land mines rather than an anti-building attack. The banshee? Looked like a cloakable valkyrie that attacked ground rather than air (the style of its attack: a barrage of minor AoE missiles, rather than a pair of single-target missiles). |

agreed about the mothership would be so much more useful with those abilities and now it makes it seem almost like a MOTHERSHIP can you believe it!
other things they shoulda kept Phase Prism's ability to restore energy to areas without pylons (There is so much use for these) Twilight Archon.... it seems so badass Reapers with the D8 charge as an ability.... this would definantely make this unit a better counter to a squad of stim marines, it allows the D8 charge to be used as an ability which would need to be research and have probably limited use. Makes no sense for D8 charges to be infinite supply on the reaper AND it makes up for the ridiculous build time! -Battlecruisers firing graphics are so much better looking and intimidating in their previous one. Now, Battlecruisers actually look like a command ship (I still think they need to enlarge the carrier and cruisers a little bit to give them a little more perspective because if I remember right in the cinematics they mutalisks look like flies swarming a BC) |

I believe the mothership was nerfed because those abilities were kind of unbalanced. it was meant to be fun, but time bomb? planet breaker? and dark hole? they just scrapped them all and changed dark hole into vortex and spit the units back out. before it ate yamato blasts, ships, missle, everything and they were destroyed. |

there was never a mothership limit of 2
watch the first release thingy witht eh OP mothership and other OP units like the infestors that could infest buildings while burrowed, and the marines with 65 hp bfore combat sheilds |

There is something I noticed about Motherships as well. If they are suppose to be the Protoss trump card, the anti-everything button... why is it so weak?! These are the things that crack planets and they can't even beat a squad of Vikings! Protoss players barely summon any!

It was so great seeing that site again. Mothership needs its old abilities (maybe nerfed) and so does the Phoenix. I hope to see it all in LOTV in the campaign.
Edit: Bring back the Arbiter and give it current Mothership abilities. |

Would not mind the Mothership redesigned. With the Archon toilet nurfed, I honestly don't see any reason as to why it's even in the game...yes, rework it into something more viable. I still believe Protoss could use a good bit of tweaks...hell, ALL the races could use a little love in some areas, while some others (Terran) could use a little hate in some as well. >.>
Either way, every one of the races could still use some perfecting. |

Planet cracker is cool and should replace mass recall, because why have a transport ability when almost all other units can walk faster than mothership? invisibility is fine, but might need to be nerfed for this new momma ship to be balanced, maybe it can only be used while ship is immoble the old attack is a must have! it can target multiple units and just looks really cool |
I like to use the mothership as a defensive unit when I don't go mass void rays in team games. It cloaks your front line of defense, and you can recall all your units back to your base if it looks like you're about to lose the battle. |

B) There's no way to balance planet cracker, it wont come back get over it. C)Invisibility is fine, dont change. D) the attacks are already weak you want it to hit multiply targets for weaker hits? You're not taking account that right now the mothership hits the target what? 2/3 times? if they split that the units would take 1/3 of the damage as before and die slower. Upping the damage wont happen to even out the three beams hitting the same as now, so No. E) if you want all of these abilities just wait until legacy of the void, they will most likely have these abilities for single player campaign. |
