Eras Zombie Invasion [Official Thread]

Eras Zombie Invasion has just been released onto Battle.net. It is the remake to the classic Warcraft 3 map. I am creating this thread to assemble any and all suggestions or any bugs/glitches one might report into one location. Check out the map now and if you have feedback to give I would be glad to hear it.
As far as what one can expect from the game: I have basically brought all the features from the original over. I have a water/boat system that works quite nicely and one can still expect the dreaded water zombies. I’ve added additional events as well as a new random event feature that will make the game feel different every time, more dynamic. I plan on adding loads more and expanding on what’s already a great game. As this is newly released it may contain some bugs or glitches, even issues of balance, if you encounter them, report them, as I’d greatly appreciate any input on these matters. |

I played solo for a little bit, so I don't really know much about the later game or zombies (played as Sweden)
For one, it would be nice if lumber mills and marketplaces had different icons so you can tell them apart. But a big thing is get rid of the mages and mage towers, those didn't exist and never have. I think the mage towers were supposed to be archer towers? The health of the units seem really low. I understand WC3 Eras had high numbers, but for a recreation, I would start with as many similarities as possible and then go out from there. In WC3 Eras was fairly balanced. Really it only had problems with tier 5 zombies and crows, and water wall offs - which would only cause a stalemate at best for humans. In the same way, clerics should still have an attack. I don't know about the removal of the foundations. it may be non useful if the walls are good/and you have enough slots for building. Also, the number of levels is really low compared to eras. you could get 10 wall upgrades no problem normally. After the first one it gets really expensive for early game. I am just worried that the same thing will happen to this as happened to Heavens last stand. The creator put too many things in at once without really balancing them. (forgotten were ridiculously op, random heroes with no army ect). Someone else may have differing thoughts on keeping it a remake first, then changing around things? |

Well the marketplaces and lumber mills have different icons, i believe your referring to the actor's wire frame which is an armory, i will change this of course. Perhaps the icons are too similar?
-EDIT- I have since made the changes to both icons and wire frames. In regards to the mage tower/wizard, they replace the archers as i could not find a suitable model to be an archer. They fill the same ranged role, and are merely an aesthetic change. I understand your view however. As far as the unit health numbers go, everything has been cut in half including damage, in part due to the fact that the limit for health in the data editor of Starcraft 2 is 100,000 (which i ended up going over and had to use triggers to compensate). These issues aside I hope to balance the game with time, so that it replicates the feel of the original. Also if you feel any features from the warcraft 3 version were missing from this version please let me know. As far as clerics having an attack, when i gave them one they would not use their auto cast heal, however i may try and see what i can do to change that. The walls don't allow for zombies to attack through them as they did in war3 so the need for foundations is unnecessary. Every upgrade has been changed to go up to a maximum of 20. However the price and effects are still the same from each upgrade type. Meaning it still costs the same to go from 1-20 as it did to go from 1-50. For example in the War3 Version 1 Level of Durability provided 10% increase. In this version it is a 30% increase at 3 times the price. (in war 3 it was 60 levels of structure durability) In the end it's the same result, just less number of upgrades. However if this becomes a big issue i can easily change it. As i said i will work on all balance issues. Thank you for your feedback. |

I have changed the upgrades to resemble the way they were in the warcraft 3 version. I must say it does work better now that it is changed, thank you for your help on this matter, Lifeswork.
As far as this error is concerned, I have noticed this as well, it seems to occur around 40 minutes, I will be working on fixing it now. Thank you for reporting this Machschau. -Edit- I have applied a fix and have played the map for 120 minutes and have not encountered the error again, therefore I believe this problem to be fixed, however if you encounter the error again please report so and provide the time in which it occurred. Also note that if it does occur, the game is over as it cause all triggers to no longer function. In addition to fixing this error it seems I have greatly improved performance in the game, if you experienced a great deal of lag or frame rate drops, know that this has been improved. |

I have recently added sound effects for when Night begins and Day begins; also i have fixed an issue in which the night behavior was not being added. It now works as intended, reducing sight range for all human units.

The issues with level 2 zombies is fixed now, thank you for reporting this.
As for lag, I'll see what I can do to improve performance, however I have not found their to be lag when I have played the latest version, It could perhaps be something on your end. Regardless, like I said, I will try and improve performance. Thank you for trying out the map. |

You cant choose your color in the game lobby, can you change that at all?

I loved eras on wc3 so heres my input here. Make it more soloable, like with AI computer zombies and get rid of mages and mut archers. i dont like the zealot model for berserker, maybe a more medieval looking one? and maybe AI humans too. and the heavy infantry use the zealot portait lol. but GREAT JOB OTHERWISE =D

also put way more varieties of units, with faction specific units like spartans, or vikings, english longbowman. you could use models and icons from wc3 too. that would be bad !@#.

Winning condition is that all zombies must be dead you might of had a player hiding his zombies in the water. However i will change is to all zombie building And Zombuilders must be dead as they cannot swim. I will fix this. [Edit] This has been fixed.
As for Computer controlled zombies and humans, I am working on adding some AI capability, however they will never be able to fully replace a full house game. I've been looking around for better medieval models, if I do find them I will utilize them. |

Also, you should have a message for people to go to a special channel for game creation, so you could get more popularity maybe?
