Topic Help on Mobius Datacore mission

OK, I need some help with this mission on hard. I'm going through the campaign again, trying to beat it on hard. So anyway, I've been doing really well so far, but on this mission I've hit a wall. I managed to kill the first two datacores, but the third one...After I take out the second one, I don't have any minerals left.

So after I kill the second one, I have no minerals and not enough forces to kill the third. I would have enough forces, but I can't leave my base unguarded. So help me please.

you should be bioballing with medics and medivacs. mechballs will die to narrow paths. Bioball is cheaper in the long run.

You can use youtube and find any video guide on brutal for this mission if you prefer a visual.

You can expand to the Zerg base at the second data core, but you shouldn't have to.

You are incorrect in saying that you have to defend your base; as long as one building survives, you're golden. Build a minimal defense and fly some of the buildings behind the base. You can even take a building with your army. Wait until you're done with the second data core and the Brutalisk of course before you go all-in.

There are threads here that offer tips; one of my favorite things to do is medivac two siege tanks to the side of the second data core and let them destroy it. This saves a bunch of resources by not charging in and giving the Zerg a fighting chance.

The man thing is to not wait too long. You'll waste resources defending your base if you do. Kryokon is right; find a video if you're really having trouble or look at Liquipedia or elsewhere for strategy tips.

Odds are, you just need to work on speeding it up.

I'm fond of that one too... Very fun! ...Fly them up and around to that little speck of land behind the 2nd Core, right next to that canal.

Usually, by the time I'm on this mission, I place 2-3 [Shrike Turret] Bunkers at the base ramp loaded with 2 Marines, 1 Marauder, and maybe a Firebat in each-ish. Maybe one Siege Tank. 2-3 Missile Turrets. 1 Psi Disruptor Near the center or one on each side of the ramp.

1-2 Missile Turrets at the upper Left of the base with a Goliath or 2 for back up.

Most of the assault units I get & use either come from the stranded troops or the Mercenary building. I make a Hercules, 2-3 Medivacs, & 2-3 Science Vessels.

I forgot how I did this. I just massed infantry and medivacs. For defense, i spammed marines and siege tanks. Clear the zerg area outside your base and keep your medivacs safe at all times. it's not hard to rebuild your troops if you have to. If you want the achievement, you can disregard the research and finish the misison faster. i did it with the research though =P.

Not too bad a necro...2 weeks is all.

With the first datacore you just pick up your forces and land em on the roof. That way there is zero resistance.

^ I usually make a side trip to the platform just left of your base, via the Medivacs, and pick up the Goliath and Marine before heading to the Datacore you've mentioned. A little extra anti-air support never hurts.

What's the viable, reasonable freshness scale before a thread / post has been categorized as potentially "necroed"? I figure a month. After all, some threads are months old, yet still on the first page if tons of new threads are not being created... So by that clarification, is it acceptable for any thread on the first page of its forum is fair game regardless of its age?

The light heartedness of a cheerful laugh is indication that comments are not taken too seriously... A preemptive buffer of good will. It's funny... just like the pervious volleys! Both made me laugh.

Thanks! xD
